Eisenbahn-Sicherungsvorrichtung.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.1
So könnte z. B. das weichenznngenartige Organ e allein, also ohne die Führungsschiene d, genügen,
EMI2.2
Ausführungsform, wobei der Schwenkzapfen f des Organs e in der Bahn h des Betätigungsorgans t liegt, hat aber den Vorteil, dass die äussere Führungsfläche der Zunge e bei der in Fig. l dargestellten Lage und bei der dargestellten Länge dieser Zunge sanfter gegen die Bahn h geneigt ist, als wenn der Abstand des Sehwenkzapfens t von der Fahrschiene a grösser wäre als der Abstand der Bahn h von dieser Fahrschiene ;

Railway safety device.
There have already been proposed many railway safety devices, by means of which the brake or a warning signal on locomotives or railcars at points where slow travel or stop is required, is operated from the track body, namely by adjusting the actuators on the locomotive by next the running rail arranged resistance body is to be effected. These resistance bodies were designed as stops that lay in the path of the actuating element located on the locomotive, and it is clear that this actuating element, due to the high speed at which the locomotive came up to such a stop, hit against it with such force, that destruction could not be avoided.
According to the invention, a resistance body arranged next to the running rails is probably also used to adjust the actuating element located on the locomotive; but this resistance body is designed in such a way that the adjustment of the actuating element takes place only gradually, despite the high speed with which it approaches the resistance body, without impact. This is achieved by a switch tongue-like organ which is adjustably arranged next to the running rails and the tip of which is directed opposite to the direction of travel. This switch tongue-like organ can be connected to the mechanism for adjusting the usual route signals in such a way that it is adjusted automatically in accordance with the adjustment of these signals.
An embodiment of the device according to the invention is illustrated in FIG. 1 in a plan view and in FIG. 2 in a cross section.
On the side of the track consisting of the running rails a, b, which is normally traveled in the direction of arrow c, a guide rail d is arranged, which consists of an I-iron (Fig. 2) and is slightly higher than the running rail . At one end of this guide rail d, the switch tongue-like member e is hinged, which detaches its tip from the direction of travel c and can be pivoted from the position shown in full lines around the vertical pin t into the position e 'shown in dashed lines. At the other end of the guide rail d a second switch tongue-like guide piece g is attached, but which remains immovable in the position shown.
The dash-dotted line h indicates the path of a pin i, which is connected to the actuating device for the brake, the steam whistle or the like located on the locomotive and whose adjustment puts this actuating mechanism into effect. This pin i (it could, for example, also be the end of a lever with a guide roller or the like) thus moves on the dash-dotted line h, and it comes up to the tongue e, which is the one shown in FIG Assumes position, it is gradually pushed outwards by its straight path h, so that it finally slides over the outer surface of the guide rail d and then the guide body and only at the end
EMI1.1
returns to its normal orbit h.
Displacement of the pin i from its normal path activates the organ on the locomotive by which the train is automatically braked or a warning signal is activated so that the train is brought to a standstill either automatically or by the intervention of the locomotive driver.
If the soft-tongue-like organ e is in the position e 'shown in dashed lines, the pin i of an approaching locomotive is gradually displaced inwards by the organ e', then slides on the inner surface of the guide rail r7 and then continues on its path h,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.1
Pin i has no consequences, 0 so that the train can continue unimpeded.
The organ e is thus brought into the position described first when the train is to be stopped, and into position e 'when the path is free. If, in addition to this safety device, the usual line signals are also available, it is advisable to use the mechanism for adjusting these lines. to bring signals with the switch tongue-like organ e in connection in such a way that the adjustment of the line signal automatically brings the organ e into the corresponding position. It is advisable to arrange the automatic safety device in the vicinity of the distant signal and to bring the organ 0 into connection with the wire pull acting on this distant signal.
The purpose of the fixed tongue g is to guide the pin of a locomotive approaching in the opposite direction safely against the inner guide surface of the rail d and to prevent the actuation of the brake or the warning signal, even if trains passing this point in the normal direction of travel should be stopped.
It is therefore essential for the described device that an adjustable element (0) is used, by means of which the adjustment of the actuating element of the locomotive is carried out without jolting despite the high driving speed, i.e. very gradually, so that all the reliability requirements of such a safety device are met can. In structural terms, however, the described guide device can be changed in many ways.
So could z. B. the switch tongue-like organ e alone, i.e. without the guide rail d, suffice,
EMI2.2
is located at the rear end or at some intermediate point. The adjustment of this organ e could incidentally also take place in other ways than by pivoting about a pin f.
The subdivision of the guide device into a fixed and an adjustable part has, as can easily be seen, the advantage that this makes the adjustment easier.
In the embodiment shown, the device is made so that the actuator i, when it is to perform its function, is pushed inward; however, it is clear that the device can also be designed in such a way that the actuating member is pushed outwards when it is to come into effect. This would only have a disadvantage insofar as the actuating member could also be adjusted by any object which accidentally got onto the track body.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the guide rail d is mounted obliquely in such a way that it moves away from a point at which its inner guide surface is closer to the running track a than the
EMI2.3
diverges. This has the effect that when the switch tongue-like member e assumes the position e ', the pin i of the locomotive is pushed in and only then gradually returns to its normal position. Web h is returned to the inner side of the guide rail d. The guide rail d could, however, also be arranged in such a way that during free travel, i.e. when the switch tongue-like setting is set
Organs e in the position e'the path h of the actuator i is completely free.
The illustrated in Fig. 1
Embodiment, wherein the pivot f of the member e lies in the path h of the actuating member t, but has the advantage that the outer guide surface of the tongue e in the position shown in Fig. 1 and with the length of this tongue shown against the path h more gently is inclined as if the distance between the pivot pin t and the running rail a were greater than the distance between the track h and this running rail;
In this latter case, one would have to increase the length of the tongue e to the same gentle inclination of the outer guide track of the tongue e as in the embodiment shown, if the tongue tip is to protrude sufficiently far inward against the running rail a by one improper distraction of the
Cones? To avoid.
