Abstract

An air press to non-compressively dehydrate a wet tissue at consistency levels not previously thought possible at industrially useful speeds without thermal dehydration. For this purpose, an air press is used to drain a wet fabric comprising support fabrics adapted to retain the wet tissue between them and transport it through an air press; a first drain device that has skinning members; A second drain device wherein one of the drain devices includes air operatively connected to a source of pressurized fluid and the other comprises a collection fluid operatively connected to a vacuum source. The invention contemplates a device for draining a wet fabric provided by the air press and the collection device. In addition, a method for draining a cellulosic tissue using pressurized tissue is contemplated.
