Definitions

  • This invention concerns a dispensing head of a cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device, including:
  • a product dispenser having a member movable along a longitudinal axis, between a product storage configuration and a product dispensing configuration allowing the dispensing of cosmetic product
  • an actuator intended to be actuated by a user, the actuator being mobile with regard to the base between a rest position and an actuation position in which it moves the mobile member in the product dispensing configuration;
  • the dispensing head is intended to be mounted on a container of a cosmetic product packaging.
  • the device thus formed is suitable for storing and dispensing care product, coloration product or makeup product such as creams, emulsions, lotions, gels, oils.
  • the cosmetic product is intended to be applied onto a surface body of a user, such as the user's skin or keratin fibers.
  • a cosmetic product is defined in EC Regulation No. 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council of November 30, 2009, relating to cosmetic products.
  • Known cosmetic product packaging and dispensing devices include a dispensing head comprising a product dispenser such as a pump or a valve, a base receiving the latter, and an actuator mobile with regard to the base between an actuation position and a rest position. When pressing the actuator, the product is conveyed in a duct connecting the product dispenser to a dispensing outlet.
  • Such a device enables a precise dispensing and application of a controlled dose of cosmetic product by the user.
  • the locking piece is movable between a locking position, in which the locking stop comes in abutment against a complementary stop of the actuator, and an unlocking position, in which the locking stop is positioned away from the complementary stop of the actuator, thus allowing actuation of the device.
  • Such a locking piece does not provide full satisfaction. Indeed, it is not suitable for devices having a larger actuation surface.
  • a single locking stop may not fully prevent non-centered actuation of the actuator and thus accidental dispensing of cosmetic product when an imbalanced pressure is fortuitously exerted on the actuator.
  • One aim of the invention is providing a dispensing head of a cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device, having a lock system which is very reliable to avoid any accidental actuation when not in use, in particular during transportation of the device.
  • the invention concerns a dispensing head of a cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device, characterized in that the intermediate locking part comprises a plurality of stops angularly spaced around the axis of rotation, each pair of adjacent stops delimiting an intermediate passage between them, the actuator comprising, for each stop, a protrusion extending towards the intermediate locking part, each protrusion cooperating with a corresponding stop in the locking position, each protrusion being located facing an intermediate passage in the unlocking position.
  • Such a locking part having a plurality of angularly spaced stops prevents accidental actuation of the device, even in the case of a non-centered pressure application on the actuator.
  • the intermediate locking part comprises a central hub with a plurality of arms extending radially, the stops being delimited by the radial arms;
  • the intermediate locking part comprises between two and eight arms extending radially from the central hub;
  • the stops of the intermediate locking part are evenly angularly distributed around the central hub.
  • the angular distribution of stops guarantees that an imbalanced pressure on the actuator is efficiently counteracted.
  • This structure also provides a compact device, as the radial arms do not need to be significantly thick to ensure excellent stability.
  • the actuator comprises an upper wall and a peripheral wall extending from the upper wall towards the base, the protrusions protruding from the upper wall.
  • peripheral wall allows for a reliable guiding of the actuator while the stops are kept compact in the cavity defined by the upper wall and the peripheral wall.
  • the intermediate locking part comprises a main radial arm having at its free end an actuation button, the actuation button being intended to be accessible from the outside of the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device to allow a user to rotate the intermediate locking part between the locking position and the unlocking position;
  • the dispensing head comprises a click noise generator having a first plectrum borne by one of the intermediate locking part and of the base, and a deformable wall borne by another one of the intermediate locking part and of the base, the first plectrum deforming the deformable wall to produce a click noise upon rotating the intermediate locking part from the locking position to the unlocking position;
  • the first plectrum is connected to a rib, the first plectrum and the rib having together a T-shaped cross section;
  • the dispensing head comprises a blocking mechanism having a second plectrum borne by one of the intermediate locking part and of the base and a fixed ridge borne by another one of the intermediate locking part and of the base, the fixed ridge blocking the second plectrum without click sound upon rotating the intermediate locking part from the unlocking position to the locking position.
  • the product dispenser is a pump or a valve

Description

Dispensing head of a comestic product packaging and dispensing device and related device
This invention concerns a dispensing head of a cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device, including:
- a product dispenser having a member movable along a longitudinal axis, between a product storage configuration and a product dispensing configuration allowing the dispensing of cosmetic product,
- a base receiving the product dispenser,
- an actuator, intended to be actuated by a user, the actuator being mobile with regard to the base between a rest position and an actuation position in which it moves the mobile member in the product dispensing configuration;
- a product conveying duct connected to the product dispenser and having a product dispensing outlet;
- an intermediate locking part, rotatable between a locking position in which the actuator is blocked in the rest position, and an unlocking position in which the actuator is allowed to move along the longitudinal axis to the actuation position.
In particular, the dispensing head is intended to be mounted on a container of a cosmetic product packaging. The device thus formed is suitable for storing and dispensing care product, coloration product or makeup product such as creams, emulsions, lotions, gels, oils. The cosmetic product is intended to be applied onto a surface body of a user, such as the user's skin or keratin fibers.
More generally, a cosmetic product is defined in EC Regulation No. 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council of November 30, 2009, relating to cosmetic products.
Known cosmetic product packaging and dispensing devices include a dispensing head comprising a product dispenser such as a pump or a valve, a base receiving the latter, and an actuator mobile with regard to the base between an actuation position and a rest position. When pressing the actuator, the product is conveyed in a duct connecting the product dispenser to a dispensing outlet.
Such a device enables a precise dispensing and application of a controlled dose of cosmetic product by the user.
However, this type of device sometimes undergoes accidental actuation of the actuator, leading to unwanted dispensing of product.
To overcome this problem, it is known for example from US 2007/0241134 to include in the dispensing device an intermediate locking piece with a locking stop, between the base and the actuator.
The locking piece is movable between a locking position, in which the locking stop comes in abutment against a complementary stop of the actuator, and an unlocking position, in which the locking stop is positioned away from the complementary stop of the actuator, thus allowing actuation of the device.
Such a locking piece does not provide full satisfaction. Indeed, it is not suitable for devices having a larger actuation surface. A single locking stop may not fully prevent non-centered actuation of the actuator and thus accidental dispensing of cosmetic product when an imbalanced pressure is fortuitously exerted on the actuator.
One aim of the invention is providing a dispensing head of a cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device, having a lock system which is very reliable to avoid any accidental actuation when not in use, in particular during transportation of the device.
To this aim, the invention concerns a dispensing head of a cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device, characterized in that the intermediate locking part comprises a plurality of stops angularly spaced around the axis of rotation, each pair of adjacent stops delimiting an intermediate passage between them, the actuator comprising, for each stop, a protrusion extending towards the intermediate locking part, each protrusion cooperating with a corresponding stop in the locking position, each protrusion being located facing an intermediate passage in the unlocking position.
Such a locking part having a plurality of angularly spaced stops prevents accidental actuation of the device, even in the case of a non-centered pressure application on the actuator.
According to alternate embodiments :
- the intermediate locking part comprises a central hub with a plurality of arms extending radially, the stops being delimited by the radial arms;
- the intermediate locking part comprises between two and eight arms extending radially from the central hub;
- the stops of the intermediate locking part are evenly angularly distributed around the central hub.
The angular distribution of stops guarantees that an imbalanced pressure on the actuator is efficiently counteracted. This structure also provides a compact device, as the radial arms do not need to be significantly thick to ensure excellent stability.
According to an alternate embodiment:
- the actuator comprises an upper wall and a peripheral wall extending from the upper wall towards the base, the protrusions protruding from the upper wall.
The provision of a peripheral wall allows for a reliable guiding of the actuator while the stops are kept compact in the cavity defined by the upper wall and the peripheral wall.
According to alternate embodiments:
- the intermediate locking part comprises a main radial arm having at its free end an actuation button, the actuation button being intended to be accessible from the outside of the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device to allow a user to rotate the intermediate locking part between the locking position and the unlocking position;
- the dispensing head comprises a click noise generator having a first plectrum borne by one of the intermediate locking part and of the base, and a deformable wall borne by another one of the intermediate locking part and of the base, the first plectrum deforming the deformable wall to produce a click noise upon rotating the intermediate locking part from the locking position to the unlocking position;
- the first plectrum is connected to a rib, the first plectrum and the rib having together a T-shaped cross section;
- the dispensing head comprises a blocking mechanism having a second plectrum borne by one of the intermediate locking part and of the base and a fixed ridge borne by another one of the intermediate locking part and of the base, the fixed ridge blocking the second plectrum without click sound upon rotating the intermediate locking part from the unlocking position to the locking position.
The presence of a slide button, as well as a click noise mechanism upon actuating the device, the intermediate locking part being in the unlocked position, allows for a practical and ergonomic gesture.
According to alternate embodiments:
- the product dispenser is a pump or a valve;
The invention also concerns a cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device comprising:
- a container delimiting an inner volume intended to receive cosmetic product,
- a dispensing head as defined above, the base being mounted on the container.
The device may comprise one or more of the following feature (s) , taken solely or according to any feasible technical combination:
- the device comprises an outer shell, enclosing the container and the base, and defining an outer surface of the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device, the intermediate locking part comprising a main radial arm having at its free end an actuation button, the actuation button being intended to be accessible from the outside of the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device to allow a user to rotate the intermediate locking  part between the locking position and the unlocking position, the outer shell having a window receiving the actuation button;
- the device comprises a cover placed on the actuator to close the outer shell, the cover delimiting an indentation receiving the actuation button;
- the device comprises a piston translatable in the inner volume upon dispensing of cosmetic product by the product dispenser.

The protrusions 104 protrude towards the base 18 from the upper wall 100 of the actuator 20. In this example, they have a T-shaped cross section.
The central chimney 106 also protrudes from the upper wall 100. The chimney 106 fits into the circular opening 72, between the dome 70 of the base 18 and the tube 90 of the product dispenser 26. The tube 90 of the product dispenser 26 is inserted into the chimney 106.
The chimney 106 delimits an upstream opening at its base. The product conveying duct 22 extends between the upstream opening and a downstream dispensing outlet 118 defined in the peripheral edge 102.
The product conveying duct 22 is thus connected to the product dispenser 26 and carries the cosmetic product between the tube 90 of the product dispenser 26 and the downstream opening 118 of the actuator 20.
The ring 108 surrounds the central chimney 106.
The upper wall 100 of the actuator 20 is provided with notches 112 having an arcuate shape, intended to receive the teeth 80 of the base 18 in the actuation position.
In addition, the actuator 20 has two pairs of complementary ribs 114 arranged at two adjacent inner corners for cooperating with the two pairs of fins 68 of the base 18.
The notches 112 and the ribs 114 guide the actuator 20 in translation along the longitudinal axis A-A'. The notches 112 and the ribs 114, together with the upper wall 100 of the actuator 20, also define a stop surface complementary to the stop surface delimited on the upper edge of the base 18.
With reference to figures 1 and 4, the intermediate locking part 24 is inserted between the base 18 and the actuator 20.
The intermediate locking part 24 comprises a central hub 120 with a plurality of arms 122 extending radially.
The number of arms 122 is generally greater than two and comprised between three and ten, in particular between four and six.
The central hub 120 defines a central opening 123 in which the dome 70 of the base 18, the tube 90 of the product dispenser 26 and the chimney 106 of the actuator 20 pass through.
The central hub 120 defines for each lug 74 of the base 18 an opening 124 cooperating with the lug 74 to axially maintain the intermediate locking part 24 connected to the base 18.
The intermediate locking part 24 is rotatable around the longitudinal axis A-A’ between a locking position in which the actuator 20 is blocked in the rest position, and an unlocking position in which the actuator 20 is allowed to move along the longitudinal axis A-A’ to the actuation position.
The ends of the radial arms 122 form stops 126, each stop 126 being able to cooperate with a respective protrusion 104 of the actuator 20 extending towards the intermediate locking part 24.
The stops 126 are angularly spaced around the longitudinal axis A-A’, each pair of adjacent stops 126 delimiting an intermediate passage 127 between them. Each intermediate passage 127 is delimited from the outer contour of the central hub 120 between two adjacent arms 122
In the locking position, each protrusion 104 of the actuator 20 faces a corresponding stop 126 of the intermediate locking part 24. The stops 126 are able to block the protrusions 104 in place, hence preventing a translation of the actuator 20 with regard to the base 18.
In the unlocking position, each protrusion 104 of the actuator 20 faces an intermediate passage 127 of the intermediate locking part 24. The protrusions 104 are able to pass through the intermediate passages 127, hence allowing a translation of the actuator 20 with regard to the base 18.
The intermediate locking part 24 thus prevents accidental actuation of the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device 1, as the actuator 20 is blocked in translation along the longitudinal axis A-A' when the intermediate locking part 24 is in the locking position.
The intermediate locking part 24 further comprises a main radial arm 128 having at its free end the actuation button 28.
The actuation button 28 is accessible from the outside of the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device 1 to allow a user to rotate the intermediate locking part 24 between the locking position and the unlocking position.
The actuation button 28 here has a notch in its center, designed to receive an outer part 29 of the actuation button 28. The outer part 29 is fixed to the actuation button 28 once inserted in the notch.
In reference to figure 1, the cover 14 is mounted on the actuator 20.
The cover 14 has a top wall 140 and a peripheral side wall 141.
The peripheral side wall 141 defines a plurality of notches 142 including a central notch (not visible in figure 1) to receive the nozzle 12.
The cover 14 also has an indentation 144 on the opposite side wall to receive the actuation button 28.
The nozzle 12 is intended to dispense the cosmetic product when using the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device 1. It is inserted into the dispensing outlet 118 of the product conveying duct 22 through the notch 142 defined by the cover 14.
In an advantageous embodiment, the cross section of the nozzle 14 inner duct at its downstream opening is narrower than the cross section at its upstream opening inserted in the dispensing outlet 188.
In particular, the bottom wall of nozzle 14 inner duct has a sloping ramp over a portion of the nozzle 14 duct. The inclined section of the nozzle 14 inner duct advantageously represents between 10%and 50%of the total length of the nozzle 14 inner duct.
The outer shell 16 here receives the container 6, the piston 8, the product dispenser 26, the base 18, the intermediate locking part 24, the actuator 20, the actuation button 28, the nozzle 12 and partially the cover 14.
The outer shell 16 has a peripheral wall 150.
The upper edge of the outer shell 16 is angled, so that the cover 14 protrudes away from the outer shell 16.
In particular, the bottom wall of the outer shell 16 has ribs at the corners, bracing the container 6 in the outer shell 16.
The outer shell 16 also has a longitudinal slit on the upper part of one of the sides of its peripheral wall, intended to receive the nozzle 12.
Finally, the outer shell is provided with a central opening 154 on its opposite side, for accessing the actuation button 28, through the indentation 144 in the cover.
As shown in figure 6, the dispensing head 10 advantageously includes a click noise mechanism.
The operation of the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device 1 will now be described.
The intermediate locking part 24 is initially in the locked position.
The protrusions 104 of the actuator are blocked by the stops 126 of the intermediate locking part 24, and the actuator 20 is unable to move in translation along the longitudinal axis A-A’.
The device 1 can thus be transported without risk of accidental product dispensing, even if unbalanced forces are applied on the actuator 20.
When dispensing of cosmetic product is needed, the user first switches the actuation button 28. The intermediate locking part 24 is rotated from the locking position to the unlocking position.
The first plectrum 130 deforms the deformable click wall 82 of the base 18 and a click noise is produced.
The protrusions 104 of the actuator 20 stand opposite the intermediate passages 127 delimited by the radial arms 122 of the intermediate locking part 24. The actuator 20 is able to move in translation along the longitudinal axis A-A’.
The user presses on the cover 14, and the actuator 20 moves towards the base 18 along the axis A-A’ to actuate the mobile member 92 of the product dispenser 26.
A dose of cosmetic product is released from the container 6, through the tube 90, and the chimney 106 to the upstream opening.
The cosmetic product is then dispensed through the product conveying duct 22 to the nozzle 14.
The user can then lock the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device 1 again by switching the actuation button 28. The intermediate locking part 24 is rotated from the unlocking position to the locking position.
In the embodiment shown in the figures, the cosmetic product is kept tightly contained between the piston 8 and the product dispenser 26 which is in particular an airless pump.
In a variant, not shown, the intermediate locking part 24 comprises six arms 122, and the actuator 20 comprises six protrusions 104.
According to another variant, the stops 126 delimited by the radial arms 122 of the intermediate locking part 24 are evenly angularly distributed around the central hub 120.
According to another variant (not shown) , the cosmetic product packaging and dispensing device 1 comprises a blocking mechanism for blocking the intermediate locking part 24.
The blocking mechanism comprises a second plectrum borne by the lower wall of the intermediate locking part 24 and protruding towards the base 18, and a fixed ridge borne by the base 18 and protruding towards the intermediate locking part 24. The fixed ridge radially protrudes towards the longitudinal axis A-A’ from the outer wall 60.
When the intermediate locking part 24 is rotated from the unlocking position to the locking position, the fixed ridge of the base 18 blocks the second plectrum without click sound upon rotating.
The first and second plectrum advantageously protrude from the rib 134 on opposite sides of the rib 134.
According to other variants, the first plectrum 130 and the ramp 134 are carried by the base 18, and the deformable click wall 82 is carried by the intermediate locking part 24.
The device 1 according to the invention is particularly simple and reliable to use, and offers a very precise dispensing of cosmetic product.
The device 1 is intended for daily use and is advantageously stored at room temperature. For example, it can be kept on a shelf, in a bathroom, on a table, or carried in a bag, a toilet bag or a suitcase.
