Figures 2-4 are side sectional views of the changing station for abrasive belts in different configurations of use.
Embodiments of the Invention
With particular reference to these figures, a changing station for abrasive belts has been globally indicated with reference numeral 1.
The station 1 is usable in robotized cells for sanding and finishing metal workpieces with the aid of an articulated robotic arm.
The robotic arm is able to pick up a series of tool heads from special positions and to bring them into contact with the metal workpieces to be processed.
The station 1, according to the invention, comprises at least one supporting base 2 comprising at least one bearing plane 3 for at least one abrasive belt 4 applicable to a sanding head T.
In detail, the abrasive belt 4 is closed in a loop and is applicable to the sanding head T at the point where motorized rollers R are located which are adapted to keep it taut and to move it in order to carry out sanding and finishing operations. The station 1 is provided with retaining means 5, 7, 8 for retaining the abrasive belt 4 associated with the bearing plane 3 and comprising at least one pair of retaining elements 5 spaced apart from each other and movable between a retaining position, wherein the retaining elements 5 are substantially protruding with respect to the bearing plane 3 and the abrasive belt 4 is positioned around the retaining elements 5 themselves and is held on the bearing plane 3, and a release position, wherein the retaining elements 5 are substantially retracted with respect to the bearing plane 3 to release the abrasive belt 4.
In addition, the station 1 comprises thrust means 6 of the retaining elements 5 from the release position to the retaining position: the retaining elements 5 are adapted to be moved from the retaining position to the release position due to the action of the sanding head T.
The sanding head T exerts a pressing force on the retaining elements 5, which are shifted to the release position, thus releasing the abrasive belt 4.
In the release position, therefore, the motorized rollers R of the sanding head T are surrounded by the abrasive belt 4.
As shown in detail in the figures, the bearing plane 3 is substantially horizontal and the abrasive belt 4 rests thereon; in particular, the abrasive belt 4 is positioned on the bearing plane 3 so as to surround the retaining elements 5.
The retaining elements 5 are spaced appropriately apart from each other so that the abrasive belt 4 is kept stationary in the retaining position.
The retaining elements 5 are positioned in such a way as to define a coupling to corresponding motorized rollers R of the sanding head T.
For this purpose, at least one of the retaining elements 5 is of the type of a cylindrical support.
In the embodiment shown in the figures, both the retaining elements 5 are of the cylindrical support type.
In addition, the retaining means 5, 7, 8 comprise at least one tensioning element 7 of the abrasive belt 4, in the retaining position.
The tensioning element 7 operates in conjunction with the retaining elements 5 to keep the abrasive belt 4 stationary and stable on the bearing plane 3.
The tensioning element 7 is in turn movable between the retaining position, wherein it is substantially protruding with respect to the bearing plane 3 and keeps the abrasive belt 4 taut, and the release position, wherein it is substantially retracted with respect to the bearing plane 3 to free the abrasive belt 4.
The tensioning element 7 is also moved from the retaining position to the release position by the sanding head T on the retaining elements 5.
The tensioning element 7 is positioned so as to define a coupling to a corresponding motorized roller R of the sanding head T.
The tensioning element 7 is misaligned with respect to the pair of retaining elements 5.
In more detail, the tensioning element 7 is arranged in a far-away position from an ideal joining axis of the two retaining elements 5.
In even more detail, the retaining elements 5 and the tensioning element 7 are arranged together to form a triangle.
Again with reference to the preferred embodiment shown in the figures, the tensioning element 7 is of the type of a fin.
The retaining means 5, 7, 8 comprise a holding element 8 of the retaining elements 5 and of the tensioning element 7.
The holding element 8 is substantially of the type of a rigid plate to which the retaining elements 5 and the tensioning element 7 are locked integrally.
The holding element 8 ensures that the retaining elements 5 and the tensioning element 7 move at the same time after the interaction with the sanding head T. The holding element 8 is in turn movable between the retaining position, wherein it is moved close to the bearing plane 3, and the release position, wherein it is moved away from the bearing plane 3.
Substantially, the pressure force of the sanding head T on the retaining elements 5 gives movement to the holding element 8, which shifts away from the bearing plane 3.
In more detail, the holding element 8 is arranged lower than the bearing plane 3 and the retaining elements 5, as well as the tensioning element 7, are shifted between the retaining position and the release position through respective openings made on the bearing plane 3.
Advantageously, the thrust means 6 are associated with the supporting base 2 and with the holding element 8.
This way, the thrust means 6 move the retaining elements 5 and the tensioning element 7 at the same time towards the retaining position.
Preferably, the thrust means 6 are of the type of elastic means.
More specifically, the thrust means 6 are of the type a spring provided with one end associated with the supporting base 2 and with the opposite end associated with the holding element 8.
In addition, the supporting base 2 comprises guidance means 9 of the holding element 8.
The guidance means force the holding element 8 to shift between the retaining position and the release position so as to always keep substantially parallel to the bearing plane 3.
In doing so, the retaining means 5, 7, 8 are shifted along a direction that is always substantially orthogonal to the bearing plane 3.
In more detail, the guidance means comprise a pair of guidance elements 9 associated with the holding element 8 and adapted to slide inside respective seats defined in the supporting base 2.
Advantageously, the station 1 comprises a plurality of retaining means 5, 7, 8 arranged side by side to each other with respect to the bearing plane 3.
This way, a plurality of abrasive belts 4 can be positioned on a single bearing plane 3 at the point where the respective retaining means 5, 7, 8 are located. Conveniently, the abrasive belts 4 may be of the same type or with different grinds.
The station 1 comprises a load-bearing structure 10, wherein the supporting base 2 is associated in a movable manner with the load-bearing structure 10 between an operating position, wherein it is arranged inside an operating area for the picking of the abrasive belts by means of the sanding head T, and a home position wherein it is moved away from the operating area.
In particular, the supporting base 2 is movable by sliding between the operating position and the home position.
In more detail, in the home position, the supporting base 2 is moved to a loading area, wherein the abrasive belts 4 can be positioned by an operator at the point where the retaining means 5, 7, 8 are located.
Advantageously, the station 1 comprises at least one motor unit 11 operationally connected to the supporting base 2 and adapted to move the supporting base 2 between the operating position and the home position.
In more detail, the supporting base 2 is connected to the motor unit 11 through a toothed belt 12.
The toothed belt 12 is set in motion by a pulley associated with the motor unit itself.
Conveniently, as shown by way of example in Figure 1 , the station 1 comprises a plurality of supporting bases 2.
The supporting bases 2 are movable with respect to each other so that at least one of the supporting bases 2 is positioned in the operating area and that, therefore, there are always abrasive belts 4 available for the sanding head T.
The station 1 comprises at least one pair of supporting bases 2.
The supporting bases 2 are connected to each other by means of the toothed belt 12 so that when one supporting base 2 is brought towards the loading area, the other supporting base 2 moves towards the operating area.
The operation of the present invention is as follows.
The supporting base 2 is moved towards the operating area by the motor unit 11 and the sanding head T is moved to the supporting base 2 by means of an articulated robotic arm.
As shown in Figure 2, the sanding head T is positioned in the proximity of the bearing plane 3 so that the motorized rollers R are positioned at the point where the retaining elements 5 are located.
Afterwards, the sanding head T pushes the retaining means 5, 7, 8 towards the release position so that the abrasive belt 4 is positioned around the motorized rollers R. (Figure 3)
At this point, the sanding head T moves away and the retaining means 5, 7, 8 are returned to the retaining position by the thrust means 6 (Figure 4).
Once the available abrasive belts 4 are finished, the supporting base 2 is moved to the home position to be loaded with new abrasive belts 4.
It has in practice been ascertained that the described invention achieves the intended objects and in particular it is underlined that the changing station for abrasive belts allows reducing the time and costs related to the replacement operation of the abrasive belts from the sanding heads.
The present changing station for abrasive belts enables the abrasive belts to be installed quickly and safely.
In addition, the changing station for abrasive belts ensures precise installation of the abrasive belts to the sanding head.
