Abstract
The present invention relates to a door handle (1) suitable to used in a refrigerator (10) having at least one door (11), comprising two support members (3) which extend towards the side wall of the door (11) from both ends of a grip (2) enabling the door (11) to be opened/closed by being gripped by the user and which are mounted to the door (11); and at least one suspension screw (4) which is fixed to the side wall of the door (11) at the same level of each support member (3) such that the screw head (5) thereof remains outside.
Description
The present invention relates to a door handle which is used for opening/closing refrigerator doors.
The refrigerator door is opened/closed by means of the door handle by the user. The door handle is mounted onto the refrigerator door by means of fixing members such as screw, etc. Especially in embodiments wherein the door handle is mounted onto the vertical side wall of the door by means of support members, it is undesirable for the support members to protrude towards the side of the door. Therefore, the support members which connect the door handle to the door are produced from metal material as thin as possible and fixed to the door by means of screws. However, in this case the screws fixing the door handle to the door remain on the visible surface of the support members, adversely affecting the appearance and the quality perception of the user.
The Patent No. EP2201199 (B1) relates to a door handle which is used on household appliances. The Patent No. DE29624454 (U1) relates to a door handle which is used on furniture doors, especially on refrigerator doors.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a door handle with improved appearance which is used for opening/closing the doors of refrigerators and which is easily mounted.
The door handle realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention comprises two support members which extend towards the side wall of the door from both ends of a grip enabling the door to be opened/closed by the user and which are mounted to the door. The door handle further comprises at least one suspension screw which is fixed to the side wall of the door at the same level as each support member for connecting the support members such that the screw head remains outside, and at least one recess which is bored on the surface of each support member in contact with the side wall of the door and wherein the screw head of the suspension screw is fitted. The support members are mounted to the door by engaging with the suspension screws so as to cover the screw head fitted into the recess.
The door handle realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a refrigerator.
Figure 2 - is the perspective view of the refrigerator door and the door handle.
Figure 3 - is the sideways view of the door handle.
Figure 4 - is the view of the cross-section A-A in Figure 3.
Figure 5 – is the view of detail D in Figure 4.
Figure 6 - is the view of the cross-section B-B in Figure 5.
Figure 7 - is the detailed view of the door handle in an embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 8 - is the detailed view of the door handle in another embodiment of the present invention.
The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
- Door handle
- Grip
- Support member
- Suspension screw
- Screw head
- Recess
- Snap ring
- Threaded hole
- Set screw
- Refrigerator
- Door
The door handle (1) suitable to used in a refrigerator (10) having at least one door (11) providing access into the fresh food and freezing compartments comprises a grip (2) which enables the door (11) to be opened/closed by being gripped by the user and two support members (3) which extend from both ends of the grip (2) towards the side wall of the door (11) and which are mounted to the door (11).
The door handle (1) of the present invention comprises
- at least one suspension screw (4) which is fixed to the side wall of the door (11) at the same level of each support member (3) such that the screw head (5) thereof remains outside,
- at least one recess (6) which is bored on the surface of each support member (3) in contact with the side wall of the door (11) and wherein the screw head (5) of the suspension screw (4) is fitted, and
- the support members (3) which are mounted to the door (11) by engaging with the suspension screws (4) so as to cover the screw head (5) fitted into the recess (6) (Figure 4, Figure 5).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the recess (6) on the support member (3) is composed of a wide section with a diameter allowing the free passage of the screw head (5) and a narrow section with a diameter gripping the screw head (5). During the mounting of the door handle (1), the wide section of the recess (6) is aligned with the suspension screw (4) and the screw head (5) is passed through the wide section, thus enabling the screw head (5) to be fitted into the recess (6). After the support members (3) is attached to the suspension screws (4), the door handle (1) is slid upwards-downwards or right-left on the side wall of the door (11) depending on the position of the wide sections and narrow sections of the recesses (6), thus enabling the screw head (5) to pass through the wide section until reaching the narrow section such that the narrow section grips the screw head (5). The door handle (1) is mounted onto the door (11) by being fitted and slid over the suspension screws (4), and the support members (3) cover the screw heads (5) of the suspension screws (4).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the door handle (1) comprises at least one snap ring (7) which is placed into the recess (6) provided on the support member (3) and which stretches so as to enable the screw head (5) to be passed through the wide section of the recess (6) until reaching the narrow section and enable the screw head (5) to be tightly gripped at the narrow section of the recess (6) such that the door handle (1) is mounted to the door (11) in an immovable manner (Figure 7).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the door handle (1) comprises at least one set screw (9) which is fitted into a threaded hole (8) extending from one side of each support member (3) towards the recess (6) and which bears against the screw head (5) in the recess (6) such that the door handle (1) is mounted to the door (11) in an immovable manner (Figure 6, Figure 8).
The screw heads (5) of the suspension screws (4) used in the mounting of the door handle (1) to the door (11) are covered by the support members (3) such that the suspension screws (4) are not visible from the outside. The snap ring (7) or the set screw (9) attached to the support members (3) strengthens the connection, thus preventing the door handle (1) from dislodging.
