Abstract

The invention relates to a lubricant gel for optimisation of clearances in friction assemblies, which can be used in all kinds of combustion engines, mechanisms, compressors, and which is able to form a protective metal-ceramic layer with an exceptionally low coefficient of friction. Lubricating gel is finely dispersed mixture comprising minerals, restorative composition, oxides of metals, engine oil or process fluids and thickeners.

Description

A LUBRICATING GEL
Field of the Invention The invention relates to a lubricant gel for optimisation of clearances in friction assemblies, which can be used in all kinds of combustion engines, mechanisms, compressors, and which is able to form a protective metal-ceramic layer with an exceptionally low coefficient of friction. Background of the Invention
Russian Federation patent publication No. 2224010 discloses a plastic that contains, wt %: lithium stearate 5-12% by weight, lithium 12-hydroxy stearate 5-12% by weights, cuprous oxide 5-1% by weight, low-molecular polyisobutylene 0.2-3% by weight, diphenylamine 0.1-1.0% by weight, poly-alpha-olefm oil 20-40% by weight, pentaerytritol ester and synthetic fatty acid fraction C5-C9 as the balance.
Russian Federation patent publication No. 2555710 discloses a lubricant on hydrocarbon oil which contains lithium soap of stearic acid, lithium soap of 12- oxystearic acid, copper (I) oxide, low-molecular weight polyisobutylene, diphenylamine, poly-alpha-olefm oil, as well as pentaerythritol ester and synthetic C-C fatty acids, wherein the lubricant employs poly-alpha-olefm oil with a lower viscosity and higher content of copper oxide. Russian Federation patent publication No. 2555710 discloses a lubricant comprising l2-oxy stearate of lithium 4-7% by weight; lithium oleate 10-14% by weight; zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate 4-6% by weight; nitrated oil 1.0- 1.5% by weight; and petroleum oil. Summary of the Invention
The resulting lubricant gel is a finely dispersed mixture of minerals and oxides of metals in engine oil or process fluids and is a carrier for the delivery of the restorative composition to friction surfaces for the optimisation of clearances in friction assemblies, in all kinds of combustion engines, mechanisms, compressors.
The gel includes the following components: restorative composition Mg3(0H)4(Si205), at 7% to 12% by weight in gel composition, oxides of MgO, S1O2,
AI2O3, Fe203, K20, Na20, at up to 2% by weight in the composition of the gel mixture, minimising resistance to shear and the contact area of surfaces of friction couples converting any type of friction into rolling friction, which achieves strengthening of friction couples, reduction of the friction factor, and improvement of operational and technical parameters of machines and mechanisms.
Engine oil or process fluids make up to 75% by weight of the gel’s composition and are carriers for the delivery of the restorative composition to friction surfaces. The thickeners are: lithium 12-hydroxy stearate at 4% to 7% by weight, lithium salt and l2-hydroxystearic acid, inorganic compound with the formula CH3(CH2)4CH(OH)(CH2)l lCOOLi, colourless (white) crystals, soluble in hot petroleum oils, not soluble in water. It is used in the production of industrial lubricants. Lithium stearate at 3% to 8%, stearic acid salt of lithium with the formula Cl7H35COOLi, a colourless (white) soft waxy substance. Not soluble in water, ethanol. Also includes glycerol at up to 4% by weight, a triatomic alcohol with the chemical formula C3H803, group of stabilisers. It has the property of increasing viscosity, helping to blend different mixtures that do not blend well. Associated impurities are possible: Fe, Ca, Ni, Ti, Cr, Cu, totalling 1% by weight of the entire mixture composition. The list of associated impurities will depend on the purpose of the lubricant.
The applied composition of the lubricant gel was found experimentally to keep the restorative composition in suspension and to prevent settlement.
When the gel is used in friction couples inside combustion engines, mechanisms, compressors, the following technical effects may be reached: - a protective layer having no sharp boundary between itself and the metal with which it has conformed;
- by its structure, the layer is not foreign to metal, therefore it remains on the surface of steel or cast iron much better than chrome, nickel and other surfacing;
- the protective layer has the same thermal coefficient of linear expansion as the metal on which it forms, and therefore it does not come off when heated or cooled;
- the layer is shock-resistant up to 50 kg/mm2, which is higher than mechanical impact loads in mechanisms;
- the hardness of surfaces of parts with the protective layer reaches 63-70 HRC;
- the friction factor of parts covered by the protective layer reaches 0.003;
- the layer’s breakdown temperature is 1570 - 1600 C°; and
- roughness of the surface protected by the layer of the gel reaches class 14.
The reduction of emissions of toxic substances in the process of operation of combustion engines happens via sealing in the ring-cylinder couple, which allows fuel to burn more efficiently.
The increase in efficiency of mechanisms of any kind occurs as a result of reduced friction, reduced consumption of fuel and electricity.
The result of the invention is a universal lubricating gel, which can be used for delivery to the friction surface in all kinds of combustion engines, mechanisms, compressors, which can form a protective layer with an exceptionally low friction factor and has the following properties: cleaning of surfaces of friction assemblies; reduction in emissions of toxic substances during the operation of a combustion engine; and increased efficiency of mechanisms.
Given invention is not restricted by embodiments of invention described herein. Those skilled in the art can change or modify given embodiments without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A lubricating gel, wherein lubricating gel is finely dispersed mixture comprising:
Mg3(0H)4(Si205) in the amount of 7 to 12% by weight relative to the total weight of the mixture as a restorative composition;
oxides of metals in the amount up to 2% by weight relative to the total weight of the mixture;
lithium 12-hydroxy stearate at 4 to 7% by weight and lithium stearate at 3 to 8% by weight relative to the total weight of the mixture as thickeners; and engine oil or process fluids up to 75% by weight relative to the total weight of the mixture.
2. The lubricating gel according to claim 1, wherein the oxides of metals are selected from MgO, SiCk, AI2O3, Fe2Ck, K2O, Na20.
3. The lubricating gel according to any of claims 1 or 2, wherein the mixture further comprises a glycerol at up to 4% by weight relative to the total weight of the mixture as the thickener.
4. The lubricating gel according to claim 3, wherein the mixture further comprises lithium salt and 12-hydroxy stearic acid as the thickener.
5. The lubricating gel according to any of claims 1 to 4, which can further contain an associated impurities, selected from Fe, Ca, Ni, Ti, Cr, Cu, in the amount of 1% by weight relative to the total weight of the mixture.
6. The lubricating gel according to any of claims 1 to 5, characterised by coefficient of friction about 0.003.
7. The lubricating gel according to any of claims 1 to 6 for use in the friction assemblies.
