Abstract

The invention relates to adapters for the starters of internal combustion engines, and may be used in the designs of geared starters for engines in freight- and agricultural machinery. An adapter comprises a housing (1) provided with apertures (2), disposed on a first circumference, for connecting the adapter to a starter in various angular positions, and apertures (4), disposed on a second circumference, for connecting the adapter to an engine, wherein the first circumference and second circumference have a common center, and the diameter of the second circumference is larger than the diameter of the first circumference. The housing (1) has installed therein a transmission shaft (6) having disposed thereon a first pinion gear (8) for transmitting torque to the transmission shaft from a pinion gear (10) of the starter, and a second pick-off gear (9) for meshing with a pinion gear of an engine drive.
