Description

A balloon for the exhibition of advertising
DESCRIPTION:
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a balloon comprising:
a gas-filled bag,
- at least one display which is present on the outside of the bag and is connected to the bag,
at least one anchoring cable which is connected to the bag, and
a frame being present on the outside of the bag and defining a holding volume inside which said bag is housed.
State of the art
A balloon according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from WO2012/114314A. In this known balloon the frame has a cubical shape and the bag has a circular cylindrical shape. Due to these different shapes the bag can displace and deform inside the frame.
Summary of the invention An object of the invention is to provide a balloon of the type described in the opening paragraph which is more stable. For this purpose, the balloon according to the invention is characterized in that the bag and the frame have the same or substantially the same contour. Because the frame and bag have the same contour the bag has a steady shape which makes the balloon stable.
Preferably, the bag is fixed to the frame and is preferably at least substantially entirely within the contour of the frame present. Furthermore, the anchor cable is preferably attached to the frame. An embodiment of the balloon according to the invention is characterized in that the frame comprises two frame parts which are movably connected to each other, wherein in an upper frame part of the two frame parts the bag is housed and wherein to a lower frame part of the two frame parts the anchor cable being connected. As a result, the balloon can be better kept in a stable position than the well-known balloon. By rotating wind anchor cables will not twist relative to each other.
A further embodiment of the balloon according to the invention is characterized in that the balloon comprises a hinge comprising two hinge parts that are rotatable relative to each other around at least three axes which are at right angles to each other, one of the hinge pats being connected to the frame and the other hinge part being connected to the anchor cable. As a result, the balloon can focus freely in the wind without affecting the position of the anchoring cables. The two frame parts are preferable connected to each other via the hinge.
Preferably, the hinge is a ball joint type hinge. The hinge preferably comprises two hinge parts, one of which is formed by an inner ring having a convex outer surface and the other by an outer ring having a concave inner side wherein the inner ring is enclosed by the outer ring and the mutually facing inner side and outer side co-operate with each other.
Yet a further embodiment of the balloon according to the invention is characterized in that the frame comprises a lower part and a middle part having sides which are inclined with respect to the center line of the frame, wherein the angle between the centre line and each of the sides of the middle part is greater than the angle between the centre line and each of the sides of the of the lower part. Because of this geometry the middle part gives shade on the lower part and therefore the display or displays remain longer in the shadows and are better visible from the ground.
Brief description of the drawings
The invention will be further elucidated below on the basis of drawings. These drawings shows embodiments of the balloon according to the present invention. In the drawings:
Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the balloon of the invention in perspective, anchored to the ground; Figure 2 shows the frame of the balloon shown in Figure 1;
Figure 3 and figure 4 shows a detail of both parts of the frame with the hinged connection in various views;
Figure 5 and Figure 6, the hinge in perspective and in cross-section. Figure 7 shows a second embodiment of the balloon of the invention in perspective, anchored to the ground; and
Figure 8 shows the balloon of figure 7 in front view.
Detailed description of the drawings
Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the balloon for the exhibition of advertising and the like according to the invention in perspective. The balloon 1 has a frame 9 (shown separately in Figure 2) and a gas-filled bag 3 fitted within the contour of the frame. The balloon further has a number of displays 5 which are present on the outside of the bag. The displays can be attached to the bag and/or to the frame.
The frame 9 consists of two frame parts 9A and 9B, as shown in Figures 3 and 4. These frame parts are movably connected to one another by means of a hinge 11. An upper frame part 9A of these parts is connected to the bag 3 and a lower frame part 9B of these parts is connected to anchoring cables 7 (see Figures 1 and 2).
The hinge 11 is a ball joint type hinge so that the two frame parts are able to rotate relative to each other around at least three axes X, Y, Z which are at right angles to each other. The hinge 11, see Figures 5 and 6, has two hinge parts one of which is formed by an inner ring 13 having a convex outer side 15 and the other by an outer ring 17 with a concave inner side 19. The inner ring enclosed by the outer ring and the mutually facing inner and outer sides co-operate with each other.
Figure 7 shows a second embodiment of the balloon of the invention in perspective, anchored to the ground. In this balloon 21 the frame 23 consists of one part and the anchoring cables 25 are connected to a part of a kind of ball hinge (not visible in the drawing) of which the other part is connected to the frame.
Figure 8 shows this balloon 21 in front view. The frame 23 and with it the bag 27 within the frame comprises an upper part 31, a middle part 33 and an lower part 35. The middle and lower parts having sides 33b and 35b which are inclined with respect to the center line 37 of the frame. The angle 39 between the centre line 37 and each of the sides 33b of the middle part 33 is greater than the angle 41 between the centre line 37 and each of the sides 35b of the lower part 35, so that the middle part gives shade on the lower part and therefore the displays 29 remain longer in the shadows and are better visible from the ground.
Although in the above the invention is elucidated with reference to the drawings, it should be noted that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiments shown in the drawings within the context defined by the claims.
