Abstract

Description
本出願は、日本国特許出願2016-13851号(2016年1月27日出願)の優先権を主張するものであり、当該出願の開示全体を、ここに参照のために取り込む。
本発明は、車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置に関する。
車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイは、透過型の液晶パネル等を透過した光を車両のウインドシールド等に反射させる。反射した光は、車両の操作者に虚像を視認させる。
車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置では、虚像の輝度ムラが問題となることがある。車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の輝度ムラを低減させるための技術が提案されている。例えば特開2011-90217号公報には、虚像の輝度ムラを低減させる技術が開示されている。特開2011-90217号公報に開示された技術では、複数の光源を配置する。複数の光源それぞれに対応する複数のレンズを配列する。外側に位置するレンズの射出光の中心軸を外側の方向に傾くように設ける。
本開示の一実施形態に係る車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置は、光源装置と、表示パネルと、照明光学系と、を備える。前記表示パネルは透過型である。前記照明光学系は、前記光源装置からの照明光を前記表示パネルに導く。前記照明光学系は、レンズモジュールを含む。前記レンズモジュールは、前記照明光の光軸上に位置する1つ以上のレンズを含む。前記光源装置は、前記光軸となす角が大きい光線ほど輝度が低い照明光を射出する。前記レンズモジュールは、前記照明光のうち前記光軸となす角度が大きい光線ほど密度を高めて透過させる光学特性を有する。

図1を参照して、本発明の一実施形態に係る車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1の概略構成について説明する。車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1は、表示部10と、投影光学系20とを備える。車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1は、例えば、車両Vのダッシュボード等に収容される。
表示部10は、表示光Xを、投影光学系20を経て車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1の外部に射出する。表示光Xは車両Vのウインドシールド等の半透過板Yで反射する。反射した表示光Xは車両Vの操作者M(運転手等)の眼球に入射する。このように、表示光Xが操作者Mの眼球に入射することで、操作者Mに視認可能な虚像Zが半透過板Yの前方の所定の位置に生成される。
表示部10は、光源装置や透過型の表示パネル等を備える。光源装置から射出される照明光は、透過型の表示パネルを透過する。照明光は、表示パネルの透過後に、表示部10の外部に射出される。照明光は、表示パネルを通過するときに、所望の画像に応じて照明光の各波長の強度が減衰する。照明光は、表示パネルの通過によって表示光Xとなる。表示部10の詳細は後述する。
投影光学系20は、表示部10からの表示光Xを半透過板Yに導く。投影光学系20は、表示光Xが投影される範囲を拡大しうる。投影光学系20は、例えば凹面鏡等のミラーを有する。図1には投影光学系20が2つのミラーを有する場合を例示したが、ミラーの個数は2つに限定されない。
半透過板Yは、入射した光の一部を反射する。半透過板Yは、入射した光の一部を透過しうる。半透過板Yは、車両Vに備えうる。半透過板Yは、車両Vのウインドシールドの他、表示光Xを反射させるコンバイナ等であってよい。コンバイナ等の半透過板Yは、車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1に含まれうる。半透過板Yは、車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1から照射される表示光Xの一部を反射させる。半透過板Yは、操作者Mの目が存在すると想定している空間に向かって表示光Xを反射させる。
図2を参照して、表示部10の概略構成について説明する。表示部10は、光源装置11と、表示パネル12と、照明光学系13とを備える。
光源装置11は、照明光X0を射出する部材である。光源装置11は、例えば白色光を発散して射出する1つ又は複数のLED(Light Emitting Diode:発光ダイオード)等の発光素子を含む。光源装置11は、表示パネル12と平行な基板上に位置しうる。図2の例示では、基板上に3個の光源装置11が位置している。各光源装置11から射出される照明光X0は、照明光学系13を透過して表示パネル12に照射される。ここで、各光源装置11は、一つの発光素子で構成されてよい。各光源装置11は、一つの点光源とみなせる複数の発光素子を含みうる。各光源装置11は、複数の発光素子が近接して位置しうる。各光源装置11から射出される照明光X0は、輝度分布を有する。輝度分布は、光軸Oの方向の光線が最も輝度が高く、光軸Oとなす角度が大きい光線ほど輝度が低い。光源装置11の光軸Oは、照明光X0の輝度が最も高い方向と言いうる。
表示パネル12は、透過型の表示パネルである。表示パネル12は、液晶表示パネル及びMEMSシャッターパネルを含む。液晶パネルは、例えば、偏光フィルタ、ガラス基板、透明電極、配向膜、液晶表示素子、カラーフィルタ等を含みうる。表示パネル12は、光源装置11から照明光学系13を経て照明光X0が照射されると、その透過光を表示光Xとして射出する。表示光Xは、表示パネル12に表示される画像に対応する光となる。表示パネル12にカラー画像が表示されている場合、表示光Xは、カラー画像に対応する光となる。表示パネル12に表示される画像が変化すると、表示光Xは、変化した画像に対応して変化する。
照明光学系13は、各光源装置11と表示パネル12との間に位置する。照明光学系13は、光源装置11からの照明光X0を表示パネル12に導く。照明光学系13は、レンズモジュール131及び拡散板132を含む。
レンズモジュール131は、光源装置11に対向する。レンズモジュール131は、照明光X0を均一な輝度分布の平行光に近づける。レンズモジュール131は、1つのレンズ131aを含む。各レンズ131aは、各光源装置11からの照明光X0の光軸O上に位置する。照明光X0は、複数のレンズモジュール131によって平行光に近づけられる。
各レンズ131aは、相互のレンズが近接する周縁部Aでは、表示パネル12側の表面が中央に比べて粗面である。レンズ131aから射出される照明光X0は、粗面によって散乱する。各レンズ131aの粗面は、粗面加工処理によって実現しうる。粗面加工処理は、例えば、レンズ131aの表面の梨地処理、又はレンズ131aの表面のランダムな凹凸パターンの形成処理を含みうる。粗面加工処理によって、レンズ131aに光拡散効果を持たせうる。レンズ131aの周縁部Aに粗面を有することで、レンズモジュール131は、モアレ縞や色ずれの発生を抑制することができる。
拡散板132は、表示パネル12の光源装置11側の表面を覆うようにして設けられる。拡散板132は、レンズモジュール131からの照明光X0を拡散して表示パネル12側に透過させる。
図3を参照して、表示パネル12側から光源装置11の方向を見たときの、表示部10の構成について説明する。各レンズモジュール131は、照明光X0の光軸Oに垂直な平面内において、照射面である表示パネル12を広範囲に亘って覆うような曲率の楕円形状に形成される。このような形状に形成することで、レンズモジュール131は、表示パネル12の広範囲に照明光X0を照射することができる。
次に、図4を参照して複数のレンズモジュール131の各々が1つの照明光X0を均一な輝度分布の平行光に近づける様子について説明する。図4は、一つのレンズモジュール131と、そのレンズモジュール131に対となる光源装置11とを拡大して示す。図4に示す例では、光源装置11を、近接した3つの発光素子で構成した例を示す。図4に示す破線は、照明光X0の光線のうち、光源装置11から等角度間隔で射出される9本の光線の経路である。
レンズモジュール131に含まれるレンズ131aは、光源装置11側に凹面を有する。レンズ131aは、表示パネル12側に凸面を有する。レンズ131aは、正のレンズパワーを持つメニスカスレンズである。光源装置11からの照明光X0は、レンズモジュール131に含まれるレンズ131aの凹面に入射する。照明光X0は、レンズ131aの凹面に入射するとき、光軸Oに対する傾斜角が大きくなる方向に屈折して、凸面の方向に進行する。照明光X0は、光軸Oとなす角度が小さい光線ほどより強く屈折する。照明光X0は、凸面を透過するとき、平行光に近づけられる。照明光X0は、凸面の界面で屈折して平行光に近づく。平行光として射出される光線は、光軸Oに近い内側より光軸Oから遠い外側ほど密集している。すなわち、レンズモジュール131は、光源装置11からの照明光X0のうち光軸Oとなす角度が大きい光線ほど密度を高めて透過させる光学特性を有する。
光源装置11からの照明光X0は、光軸Oとなす角度が大きい光線ほど輝度が低いという輝度分布を有する。照明光X0は、輝度の低い光線ほど高密度な光に変換される。照明光X0は、光源装置11の輝度分布及びレンズモジュール131の光学特性が合わさって輝度分布が均一に近づけられる。
レンズモジュール131は、上述の通り、照明光X0のうち光軸Oとなす角度が大きい光線ほど密度を高めて透過させる光学特性を有する。レンズモジュール131の光学特性は、例えば、レンズモジュール131に含まれるレンズ131aの凹面の曲率が位置に応じて連続的に変化することで実現しうる。例えば、レンズモジュール131に含まれるレンズ131aが光軸Oから離れるほど高屈折率となる屈折率分布を有することで実現しうる。レンズ131aに屈折率分布を持たせるには、例えばレンズ131aの組成を光軸Oからの距離に応じて連続的に変化することで実現しうる。
図5を参照して、表示部10の一変形例の概略構成を説明する。表示部10は、レンズモジュール131が照明光X0の光軸O上に位置する複数のレンズを含んでよい。この場合、レンズモジュール131は、光源装置11側に凹面を有するレンズと、表示パネル12側に凸面を有するレンズとをそれぞれ1つ以上含む。図5に示す例では、レンズモジュール131は2枚のレンズを含む。光源装置11側に位置するレンズ131aは、光源装置11側に凹面を有し、表示パネル12側に凸面を有する正のレンズパワーを持つメニスカスレンズである。表示パネル12側に位置するレンズ131bは、光源装置11側及び表示パネル12側に凸面を有する両凸レンズである。各レンズ131bは、本実施形態に係るレンズ131aと同様に、相互のレンズが近接する周縁部Aでは、表示パネル12側の表面に粗面加工処理が施される。レンズ131bから射出される照明光X0は、粗面加工処理によって散乱する。
光源装置11からの照明光X0は、光源装置11側に位置するレンズ131bの凹面に入射する。照明光X0は、レンズ131bの凹面に入射するとき、光軸Oに対する傾斜角が大きくなる方向に屈折して、凸面の方向に進行する。照明光X0は、凸面を透過するとき、当該凸面及び表示パネル12側のレンズ131bによって段階的に屈折して、平行光に近づけられる。照明光X0は、図4に示した例と同様に、レンズモジュール131によって輝度分布が均一に近づけられる。
図6を参照して、表示部10の他の変形例の概略構成を説明する。表示部10が備える照明光学系13は、反射型偏光板133と、反射シート134とを備えてよい。
反射型偏光板133は、特定の偏光成分を透過し、他の偏光成分を反射する性質を有する。反射型偏光板133は、光源装置11と表示パネル12との間に位置する。図6に示す例では、反射型偏光板133は拡散板132と表示パネル12との間に位置する。反射型偏光板133の向きは、透過する偏光成分の偏光方向が表示パネル12の偏光フィルタの偏光方向と揃っている。
反射シート134は、光を反射する性質を有する。反射シート134は、照明光X0を含む光源装置11が発する光を反射しうる。反射シート134は、光源装置11を支持する基板の、光源装置11がある側の面上に位置する。反射シート134は、レンズモジュール131を支持する枠の内面に位置しうる。
照明光学系13は、反射型偏光板133及び反射シート134を備える。反射型偏光板133は、照明光X0のうち表示パネル12を透過しうる偏光成分以外の偏光成分を反射される。反射型偏光板133で反射される偏光成分は、反射型偏光板133に再入射するまで、反射シート134で反射を繰り返す。照明光X0は反射によって偏光状態が変化する。反射型偏光板133に再入射した照明光X0は、表示パネル12を透過しうる一部が透過し、残りが反射される。照明光X0は、反射シート134で反射を繰り返すことで、徐々に反射型偏光板133を透過する。反射型偏光板133及び反射シート134を備える照明光学系13では、照明光X0の利用効率を高めることで表示光Xの輝度が高まる。
本発明を諸図面や実施形態に基づき説明してきたが、当業者であれば本開示に基づき種々の変形や修正を行うことが容易であることに注意されたい。従って、これらの変形や修正は本発明の範囲に含まれることに留意されたい。例えば、各構成部、各ステップなどに含まれる機能などは論理的に矛盾しないように再配置可能であり、複数の構成部やステップなどを1つに組み合わせたり、或いは分割したりすることが可能である。
レンズモジュール131は、照明光X0の光軸Oに垂直な平面内において、楕円形状に形成されるとして説明したが、このような形状には限定されず、例えば円形状であってよい。
照明光学系13は、複数のレンズモジュール131を含むとして説明したが、レンズモジュール131の個数は複数には限定されず、1つであってよい。
レンズモジュール131に含まれる各レンズは、相互のレンズが近接する周縁部Aでは、表示パネル12側の表面に粗面を有し、射出される照明光X0が粗面で散乱するとして説明したが、このような構成には限定されない。

- 光源装置と、透過型の表示パネルと、前記光源装置からの照明光を前記表示パネルに導く照明光学系と、を備え、
前記照明光学系は、前記照明光の光軸上に位置する1つ以上のレンズを含むレンズモジュールを含み、
前記光源装置は、前記光軸となす角度が大きい光線ほど輝度が低い照明光を射出し、
前記レンズモジュールは、前記照明光のうち前記光軸となす角度が大きい光線ほど密度を高めて透過させる光学特性を有する、車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。 - 前記レンズモジュールに含まれるレンズは、前記光源装置側に凹面を有し、前記表示パネル側に凸面を有する、請求項1に記載の車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。
- 前記レンズモジュールに含まれるレンズは、前記光軸から離れるほど高屈折率となる屈折率分布を有する、請求項1又は2に記載の車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。
- 前記レンズモジュールは、前記照明光を均一な輝度分布の平行光に近づける、
請求項1から3の何れか一項に記載の車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。 - 前記照明光学系は、前記光源装置及び前記レンズモジュールを各々複数含み、
前記光源装置の各々は、前記レンズモジュールのいずれかに対向し、
複数の前記レンズモジュールは、前記レンズモジュールの各々を透過した照明光を互いに平行に近づける、
請求項1から4の何れか一項に記載の車両用ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。 - 前記光源装置と前記表示パネルとの間に位置する反射型偏光板と、
前記光源装置を支持する基板の、光源装置がある側の面上に位置する反射シートと、
