Description

Braid and gland packing
The present invention relates to a braided body and a gland packing.
Conventionally, a stuffing box is provided between a sliding portion such as a shaft provided in a valve or the like and a fixed portion, and a gland packing formed from a braided body is used in the stuffing box. I came.
The gland packing is required to have a sealing property for preventing leakage of internal fluid or the like.
As a gland packing relating to such a sealing property, for example, a gland packing having a square braided body knitted from an outer peripheral reinforcing expanded graphite knitting yarn and an inner reinforcing expanded graphite knitting yarn as a constituent element is known (Patent Document 1).
Further, the gland packing is also required to have a small resistance with respect to a sliding portion such as a shaft.
As such a gland packing relating to low resistance, for example, a plurality of knitting yarns of main fibers and sub-fibers are braided, and the knitting yarn existing on the outer peripheral surface portion has a sealing property with the lubricating sub-fibers containing a lubricant. A braided packing characterized by being composed of abundant main fibers is known (Patent Document 2).

The interior of the stuffing box may become hot (300 ° C or higher) due to internal fluids. When the conventional gland packing is used at such a high temperature, the gland packing in the stuffing box tends to be easily fixed to the sliding portion, which is usually made of metal. This tester was heated at 300 ° C. or 350 ° C. for 1 hour, and 3.8 MPa of water (internal fluid 40) was flowed (loaded). The amount of leakage from the stuffing box (the amount of leakage from between the shaft 22 and the packing retainer 23) in the 5 minutes after starting to flow water was measured with a graduated cylinder (in the case of measuring the amount of leakage, The shaft was not slid). Thereafter, the initial sliding torque was measured using a torque wrench. The results are shown in Table 3. The case where the leakage amount was 30 cc / min or less and the initial sliding torque was less than 100 N · m was evaluated as “◯”, and the other cases were evaluated as “X”.
The initial sliding torque means the sliding torque when the shaft is moved for the first time after starting to flow water.
