Definitions
- the present invention relates to an organic EL light emitting device.
- organic electroluminescence element (hereinafter referred to as an organic EL element) is highly visible because the element itself emits light, and since it is a solid element, it is excellent in impact resistance, so that it can be used as a light emitting element in various display devices. Attention has been paid.
- the organic EL element is characterized in that it can be thinned with a surface light source.
- the configuration of the organic EL element is basically a laminate of an anode, a light emitting layer, and a cathode, and a configuration in which a transparent anode is formed on a substrate using a glass plate or the like is usually employed. In this case, the emitted light is extracted to the substrate side.
- the organic EL element of Patent Document 2 includes an anode, an organic layer, a light-transmitting barrier conductive layer, and a light-transmitting cathode, which are sequentially provided on a substrate.
- An organic EL element has also been devised in which both electrodes are formed of transparent electrodes and emit light on both sides.
- a light-transmitting first electrode is provided on a substrate, and an organic layer having at least a light-emitting layer is provided on the first electrode.
- a light transmissive second electrode is provided on the organic layer, and at least the second electrode is made of indium oxide.
- Patent Document 3 describes a passive matrix drive top emission type EL element using a CCM method.
- Patent Document 4 describes a surface emitting light source that improves light extraction efficiency to improve luminance.
- a light-emitting element composed of a laminate of a light-emitting layer and a reflective electrode including a transparent electrode and an organic EL layer is formed on the surface of a transparent substrate.
- the light emitting element has a prism structure surface having a multi-face structure on the surface of the transparent substrate. Thereby, the light emitting layer is provided with a bent portion, and the totally reflected light in the light emitting layer is extracted from the bent portion.
- the luminance is substantially improved by increasing the light emitting area.
- the organic EL light-emitting elements of related technologies all have a single light-emitting surface when viewed as a whole as a light-emitting device. Although the organic EL light emitting element can be formed in a curved surface, there is no depth as a light emitting surface in a direction orthogonal to the light emitting surface. A light emitting device using an organic EL element of related technology does not have a sense of depth in a direction orthogonal to the light emitting surface.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide an organic EL light emitting device having a light emitting surface with a sense of depth.
- An organic EL light emitting device is A light-transmitting first electrode formed on a transparent substrate, an organic layer having a light-emitting layer formed on the first electrode, and a light-transmitting layer formed on the organic layer
- Two or more organic EL panels including an organic EL panel that transmits light having a second electrode;
- a support unit that supports the two or more organic EL panels by placing the organic EL panel that transmits the light at one end in a direction intersecting with a main surface of the organic EL panel; It is characterized by providing.

- FIG. 10 is a cross-sectional view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Modification 1 of Embodiment 2. It is sectional drawing of the organic electroluminescent light-emitting device which concerns on the modification 2.
- FIG. 10 is a conceptual perspective view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Modification 4. It is a perspective view of the organic electroluminescent panel of the organic electroluminescent light-emitting device concerning Embodiment 3 of this invention. It is a figure which shows the example of the non-light-emission transmission pattern of the organic electroluminescent panel which concerns on Embodiment 3. FIG. It is sectional drawing of the organic electroluminescent light-emitting device which concerns on Embodiment 4 of this invention.
- FIG. 1 is a cutaway perspective view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention.
- the organic EL light emitting device 1 includes two organic EL panels 10 and 11 and a support portion 21 that supports the organic EL panels 10 and 11. In the drawing, a lighting circuit and wiring for lighting the organic EL panels 10 and 11 are omitted.
- the support unit 21 supports the two organic EL panels 10 and 11 in a substantially parallel manner by overlapping in a direction orthogonal to the main surface. In each of the organic EL panels 10 and 11, the substrate and the electrode are transparent and transmit light.
- FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the organic EL light emitting device according to the first embodiment.
- the two organic EL panels 10 and 11 are arranged in parallel with a gap therebetween.
- the organic EL panels 10 and 11 are formed with electrodes and a light emitting layer over almost the entire surface, and emit light with a single color over the entire surface.
- the organic EL panel 10 and the organic EL panel 11 may have the same emission color or different emission colors.
- FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the organic EL panel according to the first embodiment.
- an anode 32 In the organic EL panels 10 and 11, an anode 32, an organic layer 33, a light-transmitting barrier conductive layer 34, and a light-transmitting cathode 35 are formed on a transparent substrate 31 such as glass.
- the anode 32 is made of, for example, ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) or TiN, and transmits light.
- the organic layer 33 may include, for example, a hole transport layer, an organic EL light emitting layer, an electron transport layer, and an electron injection layer.
- the organic layer 33 includes at least an organic EL light emitting layer. The light emission color of the organic EL panel changes depending on the material of the organic EL light emitting layer.
- the barrier conductive layer 34 is formed of, for example, a Ca diffusion layer, a conductor layer such as Ag, Mg, or TiN, or a thin film such as a metal, inorganic nitride, or inorganic oxide.
- the barrier conductive layer 34 prevents the cathode material from diffusing into the organic layer 33 and facilitates electron injection into the organic layer 33.
- the cathode 35 is made of, for example, indium oxide (In 2 O 3 ) and transmits light. In that case, in order to match the indium oxide and the conduction level of the electron injection layer or the electron transport layer, it is preferable to pass an In metal layer as the barrier conductive layer 34. If the diffusion of the cathode material into the organic layer 33 can be ignored and it is not necessary to match the conduction level for electron injection from the cathode 35 to the organic layer 33, the barrier conductive layer 34 can be omitted. Good.
- both the organic EL panels 10 and 11 transmit light
- the light emitted from the organic EL panel 10 is directly irradiated to the outside of the organic EL light emitting device 1 (left side in FIG. 2) and simultaneously transmitted through the organic EL panel 11. Then, the light is irradiated on the opposite side of the organic EL light emitting device 1 (the right side in FIG. 2). Further, the light emitted from the organic EL panel 11 is directly irradiated to the outside of the organic EL light emitting device 1 (right side in FIG. 2), and at the same time, is transmitted through the organic EL panel 10 and opposite to the organic EL light emitting device 1 (see FIG. 2 on the left).
- the emission color of the organic EL panel 10 and the emission of the organic EL panel 11 are mixed.
- the light emission of the organic EL panel 11 (10) can be felt through the organic EL panel 10 (11). That is, a sense of depth occurs in the light emission. This is because parallax occurs because there is a gap between the organic EL panel 10 and the organic EL panel 11.
- the sense of depth can be confirmed by turning on the organic EL panel 11 after turning on the organic EL panel 10. The sense of depth is easier to recognize when the distance between the organic EL panels 10 and 11 is larger and when the emission color is different.
- the emission colors of the organic EL panels 10 and 11 are the same, the emission color does not change but the luminance increases when both of the panels are lit.
- the luminescent colors are different, the luminescent color changes depending on whether each is lit alone or when both are lit. Further, the color tone can be changed by changing both emission intensities.
- the portion that does not emit light can be made extremely small by separating the organic layer 33 or wiring in the panel, so that the effective light emitting area is large, and the organic EL light emitting device 1 The emission intensity per unit area can be increased.
- the organic EL panel of the organic EL light emitting device 1 is made into three pieces and each has a single emission color of red (R), green (G), and blue (B), the overall color tone can be freely changed. .
- the organic EL light emitting device 1 having a high light emission intensity can be obtained.
- FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Embodiment 2 of the present invention.
- the organic EL light emitting device 1 according to Embodiment 2 includes three organic EL panels 10, 11, and 12. Of the three organic EL panels 10, 11, and 12, one sheet located at the end reflects light. This is a configuration in which an organic EL panel 12 that reflects light is added to the organic EL light-emitting device 1 of the first embodiment.
- the organic EL panel 12 that reflects light is configured such that, for example, the anode 32 or the cathode 35 reflects light.
- a light reflecting member may be formed on the opposite side of the substrate 31 of the organic EL panel 12 that transmits light from the electrode.
- the organic EL panel 12 that reflects light emits light toward the other organic EL panels 10 and 11. Light directed from the other organic EL panels 10 and 11 toward the organic EL panel 12 is reflected by the reflecting member of the organic EL panel 12 and is emitted from the transparent organic EL panel 10 side.
- FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of an organic EL panel including a reflecting member.
- the reflective electrode 36 is formed on the substrate 31 as a reflective member.
- the emitted light is extracted to the electrode side opposite to the substrate 31. Accordingly, the substrate 31 is disposed on the opposite side of the other organic EL panel.
- the reflective electrode 36 can be formed using a highly reflective metal, amorphous alloy, or microcrystalline alloy.
- High reflectivity metals include, for example, Al, Ag, Mo, W, Ni, Cr, and the like.
- High reflectivity amorphous alloys include, for example, NiP, NiB, CrP and CrB.
- the highly reflective microcrystalline alloy includes, for example, NiAl.
- the reflective electrode 36 may be used as an anode or a cathode.
- a conductive metal oxide such as SnO 2 , In 2 O 3 , ITO, IZO, and ZnO: Al is stacked on a high reflectivity material to form holes for the organic EL layer. Injection efficiency can be improved.
- the reflective electrode 36 is used as a cathode, the efficiency of electron injection into the organic EL layer can be improved by using the constituent layer of the organic layer 33 in contact with the reflective electrode 36 as an electron injection layer.
- FIG. 5 assumes a case where the reflective electrode 36 is an anode.
- the configuration of the organic layer 33, the barrier conductive layer 34, and the cathode 35 is the same as that in the first embodiment.
- the reflective electrode 36 is a cathode, an anode is formed on the organic layer 33.
- the organic EL panel 12 is disposed with the substrate 31 side facing another organic EL panel.
- Embodiment 2 light is irradiated to the side of the organic EL light emitting device 1 on which the organic EL panel 10 that transmits light is disposed (the side opposite to the side on which the organic EL panel that reflects light is disposed). Since the light from the other organic EL panels 10 and 11 is reflected by the reflecting member and irradiated on one side, the intensity on the light emitting side is increased. Moreover, since the virtual image of the organic EL panels 10 and 11 is formed by the reflecting member when viewed from the light emitting side, the feeling of depth increases.
- the reflective electrode 36 may not be formed over the entire panel surface.
- the portion that does not reflect light has a different color tone or brightness, and can have a decorative or design effect depending on its shape. Moreover, the effect which emphasizes a feeling of depth can also be expected.
- a portion that does not reflect light may be configured to transmit light.
- a pattern that reflects light may be formed on two or more organic EL panels. For example, a pattern that emits light on the organic EL panel 12 side of the organic EL light-emitting device 1 can be formed by forming a portion that transmits light in the organic EL panel 12. Thereby, the decorative or design effect of the organic EL light-emitting device 1 can be produced.
- each of the organic EL panels 10, 11, and 12 has a single emission color and the same emission color or different emission colors is the same as described in the first embodiment. Similarly, it is possible to freely change the overall color tone by using single emission colors of red (R), green (G), and blue (B).
- FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Modification 1 of Embodiment 2.
- Modification 1 is a case where the organic EL panel 12 that reflects light is disposed between the organic EL panels that transmit light.
- the second from the right in FIG. 6 is an organic EL panel 12 that reflects light, and the other is an organic EL panel that transmits light.
- the configuration of the left three is the same as in FIG. If the back surface of the organic EL panel 12 that reflects light is also configured to reflect light, the light emission of the organic EL panel 13 at the right end is reflected by the back surface of the organic EL panel 12, so that the light emission intensity increases and a sense of depth increases. Arise.
- the organic EL panel 12 when the organic EL panel 12 emits light to the side where the number of organic EL panels that transmit light is small (right), the number of panels that emit light is the same on both sides of the reflecting member. If the back surface of the organic EL panel 12 is configured to reflect light, the configuration is similar on both sides. However, since the distance between the light emitting surface and the reflecting member is different, the appearance is slightly different.
- FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Modification 2.
- the reflecting plate 30 is disposed instead of the organic EL panel 12 that reflects light. Since the light emission of the organic EL panels 10 and 11 is reflected by the reflecting plate 30, the configuration shown in FIG. 4 is similar to the case where a single organic EL panel that transmits light is used. 4 corresponds to a state in which the organic EL panel 12 that reflects light does not emit light.
- the reflecting plate 30 can be a curved surface such as a convex surface or a concave surface instead of a flat surface.
- the reflecting plate is formed as a concave surface facing the organic EL panel sides 10 and 11, the reflected light is collected, and thus an effect like a downlight can be obtained.
- FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Modification 3.
- the organic EL panels 10 and 11 that transmit light are not parallel but are inclined with respect to each other. Since the light-emitting surfaces are not parallel, the sense of depth varies depending on the location, and there is an unusual production effect. Different light emission can be produced by selecting and arranging the organic EL panel to be inclined.
- the organic EL panel 12 that reflects light may be tilted.
- FIG. 9 is a conceptual perspective view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Modification 4.
- FIG. 9 shows the shape and arrangement of the organic EL panels 14, 15 and 16, and the support portion 21 is omitted.
- a flat organic EL panel is assumed, but the organic EL panel may be formed of a curved surface.
- FIG. 9 shows an example in which three organic EL panels are arranged in a cylindrical shape so that the central axes overlap each other. Also in FIG. 9, the organic EL panel is supported by being overlapped in a direction intersecting (orthogonal) with the light emitting surface (main surface).
- an organic EL panel that reflects light may be disposed around the center, and an organic EL panel that may transmit light may be disposed around the organic EL panel.
- all the organic EL panels can be configured to transmit light.
- the appearance of light emission differs depending on whether the central organic EL panel reflects light or transmits light. In either case, the light emitting surface has a sense of depth. In particular, when the light emission colors of the organic EL panels are different, the light emission colors appear to be different between the central portion and both sides.
- the organic EL panels 12 and 16 or the reflecting plate 30 that reflect light may not reflect light over the entire panel surface. Further, a portion that does not reflect light may be configured to transmit light. In that case, a pattern that reflects light may be formed on two or more organic EL panels.
- FIG. 10 is a perspective view of an organic EL panel of the organic EL light emitting device according to Embodiment 3 of the present invention.
- the support portion is omitted.
- non-light-transmitting transmissive patterns 17b and 18b and a non-light-emitting pattern 19b that transmit light without forming part of the panel surface are formed.
- the portions other than the non-light-emitting transmissive patterns 17b and 18b and the non-light-emitting pattern 19b are light-emitting patterns 17a, 18a, and 19a that emit light when the anode 32, the organic layer 33, and the cathode 35 are formed.
- FIG. 10 shows an example of a non-light emitting transmission pattern (light emitting pattern).
- the right organic EL panel 17 has a light emitting pattern 17a around the central square portion which is a non-light emitting transmission pattern 17b.
- the central organic EL panel 18 also has a non-light-transmitting transmissive pattern 18b in the square in the panel and a light-emitting pattern 18a around it.
- the left organic EL panel 19 has a light emitting pattern 19a in a square (broken line) in the panel and a non-light emitting pattern 19b around it.
- the left organic EL panel 19 may reflect light or transmit light.
- the non-light emitting pattern 19b is a non-light emitting transmissive pattern, and when reflecting light, it is a non-light emitting reflective pattern.
- FIG. 11 is a diagram illustrating an example of a non-light-emitting transmission pattern of the organic EL panel according to the third embodiment.
- FIG. 11 is a plan view of the organic EL panel of FIG. 10 viewed from the right organic EL panel side.
- the boundary between the light emission pattern and the non-light-emitting transmission pattern of the organic EL panel 17 is indicated by a solid line.
- a boundary between the light emission pattern and the non-light emission transmission pattern of the organic EL panels 18 and 19 is indicated by a broken line.
- the non-light-emitting transmissive pattern 17b of the organic EL panel 17 a non-light-emitting transmissive pattern 18b of the organic EL panel 18 and a light-emitting pattern 19a of the organic EL panel 19 can be seen.
- the light emitting surface appears with a step in a direction (depth direction) orthogonal to the main surface. Since the light emitting surface appears to have a step in the depth direction, there is a three-dimensional effect. In particular, when the organic EL panels 17, 18, and 19 are sequentially turned on, the light emitting surface appears to move in the depth direction, so that attention can be drawn and a highly visible display effect can be expected.
- the organic EL panel 19 reflects light, the light emission pattern of the organic EL panels 17 and 18 is reflected by the organic EL panel 19, so that it appears that the depth further extends.
- Whether or not to form a non-light-emitting transmissive pattern (light-emitting pattern) on the organic EL panel is arbitrary. You may mix the organic EL panel which forms a non-light-emission permeation
- each organic EL panel is arbitrary.
- Each organic EL panel may have a single emission color, or there may be a portion having a different emission color in the organic EL panel.
- the light emission colors of the organic EL panels can be the same or different.
- Embodiment 3 and Embodiment 1 or 2 can be combined.
- a non-light-emitting transmission pattern may be formed on the organic EL panel.
- the organic EL panel that reflects light may not reflect light over the entire panel surface. Further, a portion that does not reflect light may be configured to transmit light. In that case, a pattern that reflects light may be formed on two or more organic EL panels. For example, in FIG. 10, it is conceivable to form a pattern that reflects light on the organic EL panels 18 and 19. The light reflecting pattern and the non-light emitting transmissive pattern need not overlap. These combinations can produce various decorative or design effects. When a pattern that reflects light is formed on two or more organic EL panels, the appearance of the light emission pattern changes in a complicated manner depending on the position where the organic EL light emitting device 1 is viewed.
- FIG. 12 is a cross-sectional view of an organic EL light emitting device according to Embodiment 4 of the present invention.
- the organic EL light emitting device 1 according to Embodiment 4 includes a light source 40 that emits light toward the gap between adjacent organic EL panels 10 and 11.
- a light source 40 that emits light toward the gap between adjacent organic EL panels 10 and 11.
- an LED Light Emitting Diode
- the light source 40 irradiates light in the direction of the panel surfaces of the organic EL panels 10 and 11 on both sides of the gap.
- the emission color of the light source 40 may be the same as or different from the emission color of the organic EL panels 10 and 11.
- FIG. 12 shows a configuration in which a light source 40 is provided in the organic EL light emitting device 1 of the first embodiment.
- Embodiment 2 or 3 can be combined with Embodiment 4. Further, if there is a gap for disposing the light source 40, the light source 40 can be disposed between any organic EL panels. That is, if at least two adjacent organic EL panels are arranged with a gap sufficient to arrange the light source 40, the light source 40 can be arranged in the gap.
- the light source 40 disposed in the gap between the organic EL panels is not limited to the LED.
- a halogen lamp or a fluorescent lamp may be arranged.
- a light guide may be disposed in the gap between the organic EL panels to guide the light from the light source 40 and diffuse it.
