Abstract
カム軸駆動用タイミングチェーンの移動抵抗を低減して低燃費化を図る。トルク伝達用のタイミングチェーン(5)の一側部に対向配置されるガイドベース(21)の対向一対の側板部(22)で複数のローラ軸(31)のそれぞれの軸端部を支持し、複数のローラ軸(31)のそれぞれでチェーン案内用の針状ころ軸受(41)を回転自在に支持する。針状ころ軸受(41)の保持器(43)を針状ころ(45)による案内として、タイミングチェーン(5)の移動を転がり案内する外輪(42)の回転抵抗を低減することにより、タイミングチェーン(5)の移動抵抗を低減して、燃料の無駄な消費を抑制する。
Description
この発明は、チェーンの張力調整用として、あるいは、チェーンの移動案内用として使用されるチェーンガイドおよびそのチェーンガイドを用いたチェーン伝動装置に関する。
クランク軸に取付けた駆動スプロケットとカム軸に取付けた従動スプロケット間にタイミングチェーンを掛け渡したカム軸駆動用のチェーン伝動装置においては、タイミングチェーンの弛み側チェーンの一側方に揺動可能なチェーンガイドを設け、そのチェーンガイドの揺動側端部にチェーンテンショナの調整力を負荷してタイミングチェーンを緊張させ、チェーンの緩みやバタツキを防ぐようにしている。
また、タイミングチェーンの張り側チェーンにチェーンガイドを固定し、その固定のチェーンガイドによってタイミングチェーンの移動を案内してバタつきを抑制するようにしている。
ここで、タイミングチェーンの張力調整用や移動案内用のチェーンガイドとして、タイミングチェーンを滑り接触によって面案内する形式のものが知られているが、タイミングチェーンの移動抵抗が大きく、伝達トルクロスが多いという問題がある。
そのような問題点を解決するため、特許文献1においては、タイミングチェーンの移動方向に長く延びるガイドベースによって曲線状に配置された複数のローラ軸の両端部を支持し、その複数のローラ軸のそれぞれによってころ軸受からなるローラを回転自在に支持し、その複数のローラによりタイミングチェーンを移動自在に支持するようにしたチェーンガイドを提案している。
上記のチェーンガイドにおいては、タイミングチェーンの案内が複数のローラの転がりによる案内であるため、タイミングチェーンを面案内する場合に比較してタイミングチェーンの移動抵抗が小さく、伝達トルクロスが少ないという特徴を有している。
ところで、上記特許文献1に記載されたチェーンガイドにおいては、ローラとしてころ軸受を用いるようにしているが、保持器の案内形式について何も記載されていない。このため、ころ軸受として、軌道輪案内される形式のものが採用されると外輪の回転トルクが大きく、その回転トルクがタイミングチェーンの移動抵抗となってトルク損失となる。このため、エンジンでの燃料の消費が多くなり、その低燃費化を図る上において改善すべき点が残されている。
また、上記チェーンガイドにおいては、ころ軸受に対する潤滑がタイミングチェーンによって運び込まれる潤滑油のみのため、外輪の転走面に潤滑油が充分に行き渡らず、ピーリング等が発生し、短寿命になるという問題があった。
この発明の課題は、ころ軸受によってタイミングチェーンの移動を案内するチェーンガイドにおいて、タイミングチェーンの移動抵抗を低減して低燃費化を図ることである。
また、この発明においては、ころ軸受に対する潤滑性の向上を図ることを他の課題としている。
上記課題を解決するために、この発明に係るチェーンガイドにおいては、タイミングチェーンの外周一部に配置されて、そのタイミングチェーンの移動方向に長く延びる側板部を有するガイドベースと、そのガイドベースの側板部により両端部が支持されて、その側板部の長さ方向に間隔をおいて設けられた複数のローラ軸と、その複数のローラ軸のそれぞれに回転自在に支持されたチェーン案内用の複数のローラとからなり、前記ローラが、軸方向の両端部に内向き鍔部が形成された外輪内に保持器を組込み、その保持器の周方向に間隔をおいて形成されたポケット内に前記外輪の内周に形成されたころ転走面と前記ローラ軸の円筒状外周面に沿って転動可能なころを収容したころ軸受とされたチェーンガイドにおいて、前記ころ軸受の保持器を、その保持器外径面が外輪のころ転走面に対して非接触とされ、かつ、保持器内径面がローラ軸の円筒状外周面に対して非接触とされるようころ案内した構成を採用したのである。
また、この発明に係るチェーン伝動装置においては、駆動スプロケットと従動スプロケット間にタイミングチェーンを掛け渡し、そのタイミングチェーンの弛み側チェーンの一側部に、タイミングチェーンの移動を案内する揺動可能なチェーンガイドを設け、そのチェーンガイドの揺動側端部にチェーンテンショナの調整力を負荷して、その揺動側端部をタイミングチェーンに押し付けるようにしたチェーン伝動装置において、前記チェーンガイドとして、この発明に係る上記のチェーンガイドを採用したのである。
上記の構成からなるチェーン伝動装置において、タイミングチェーンの張り側チェーンの一側方に、タイミングチェーンの移動を案内する固定のチェーンガイドを設け、その固定チェーンガイドとして、この発明に係る上記のチェーンガイドを採用することによりタイミングチェーンのバタつきを効果的に抑制することができる。
この発明に係るチェーンガイドにおいては、上記のように、タイミングチェーンの移動を転がり案内するローラとして、保持器がころ案内されるころ軸受を採用したことにより、外輪と保持器および保持器とローラ軸は非接触状態とされるため、外輪の回転トルクは極めて小さく、タイミングチェーンとの接触によってその外輪を円滑に回転させることができ、タイミングチェーンの移動によるトルク損失を低減し、低燃費化を図ることができる。
ここで、ころ軸受の保持器は、隣接するポケット間に形成された柱部が、ころのピッチ円径より内側に配置される内柱部と、その内柱部の軸方向両端に連設された傾斜柱部と、その傾斜柱部の軸方向端部に連設されて、ころのピッチ円径より外側に配置される外柱部を有するV字形とされた鋼板のプレス成形品またはフォーミング品からなるものであってもよい。
上記のような保持器の採用において、ポケットの周方向で対向する一対の側面を、ポケットの保持器外径面側の開口の周方向幅がころの外径より大きく、保持器内径面側の開口の周方向幅がころの外径より小さくなるよう相反する方向に内方傾斜させておくと、柱部の傾斜柱部の側面がころのピッチ円径より内径側で接触案内されることになり、一対の側面を平行とする保持器に比較して簡単にころ案内することができる。
また、ころで案内される案内面を剪断面とすると、破断面でころを案内する場合に比較して、面粗度が滑らかになる分、ころの回転抵抗が小さく、トルク損失をより少なくすることができる。
この発明に係るチェーンガイドにおいて、外輪の鍔部内径を保持器ところの接触部の接触円径より大径とし、かつ、保持器の端部外径より小径とすると、保持器を抜止めする状態において、鍔部の内径面とローラ軸の外径面間にきわめて大きな間隙を確保することができる。
その結果、タイミングチェーンにより運び込まれる潤滑油が外輪の外径面に転移し、その外径面から鍔部の外側面を伝って内周部に流れる潤滑油が上記間隙から軸受内部に入り易くなり、軸受内部を効果的に潤滑することができる。
ここで、外輪の鍔部の内径面を、鍔部の外側面側を大径端とするテーパ面としておくと、鍔部の外側面に伝ってテーパ面の大径端側に至る潤滑油は、そのテーパ面の傾斜に沿って軸受内部に向けて流れることになり、軸受内部に潤滑油を効果的に取り入れることができ、潤滑性をさらに向上させることができる。
また、鍔部の外側面を凸曲面とすると、その外側面を伝う潤滑油が鍔部内径面側に向けて流れ込み易くなり、軸受内部に潤滑油を効果的に取り込むことができる。
この発明においては、上記のように、タイミングチェーンの移動を転がり案内するローラとして、保持器がころ案内されるころ軸受を採用したことにより、保持器を外輪等の軌道輪案内するころ軸受に比較して、ころ軸受の回転トルクが小さくなり、タイミングチェーンとの接触によって外輪を円滑に回転させることができ、タイミングチェーンの移動によるトルク損失を低減し、低燃費化を図ることができる。
また、この発明においては外輪の鍔部内径を保持器ところの接触部の接触円径より大径とし、かつ、保持器の端部外径より小径としたことにより、保持器を抜止めする状態において、鍔部の内径面とローラ軸の外径面間に、タイミングチェーンによって運び込まれる潤滑油の入り込みを容易とするきわめて大きな間隙を確保することができ、軸受内部の潤滑性の向上を図ることができる。
以下、この発明の実施の形態を図面に基づいて説明する。図1は、カム軸駆動用のチェーン伝動装置を示し、クランク軸1の軸端部に取付けられた駆動スプロケット2とカム軸3の軸端部に取付けられた従動スプロケット4間にはタイミングチェーン5が掛け渡されている。
タイミングチェーン5はローラチェーンであっても、サイレントチェーンであってもよい。
クランク軸1は、図1の矢印で示す方向に回転される。そのクランク軸1の回転により、タイミングチェーン5が同図の矢印で示す方向に移動し、そのタイミングチェーン5の弛み側チェーン5aの一側部にチェーンガイドA1が設けられている。
チェーンガイドA1は、タイミングチェーン5の移動方向に長く延び、その上端部がエンジンブロックから突設する支点軸10により支持されて、その支点軸10を中心に揺動可能とされ、下側の揺動側端部には、チェーンテンショナ11の調整力が負荷されて弛み側チェーン5aに向けて押圧されている。
タイミングチェーン5における張り側チェーン5bの他側部にはチェーンガイドA2が設けられている。このチェーンガイドA2は、揺動可能なチェーンガイドA1と同様に、タイミングチェーン5の移動方向に長く延び、その両端部がエンジンブロックにねじ込まれるボルト12の締め付けにより固定されて、タイミングチェーン5の移動を案内するようになっている。
ここで、揺動可能なチェーンガイドA1と固定のチェーンガイドA2とは、同一の構成とされて形状のみが相違している。したがって、ここでは、揺動可能なチェーンガイドA1の構成について以下に説明し、固定配置のチェーンガイドA2については同一の部分に同一の符号を付して説明を省略する。
図1乃至図3に示すように、チェーンガイドA1は、タイミングチェーン5の移動方向に長く延びるガイドベース21と、そのガイドベース21の長さ方向に間隔をおいて設けられた複数のローラ軸31と、その複数のローラ軸31のそれぞれに回転自在に支持されたチェーン案内用の複数のローラ41とからなっている。
ガイドベース21は、対向一対の側板部22間に複数の間隔保持板23を長さ方向に間隔をおいて形成した構成とされており、隣接する間隔保持板23間にはローラ収容空間24が形成されている。
なお、チェーンガイドA1における側板部22は、弓形とされ、一方、チェーンガイドA2における側板部22は、帯板状とされて形状が相違しているが、チェーンガイドA1と同様に弓形としてもよい。
上記の構成からなるガイドベース21は、合成樹脂の成形品とされているが、アルミニウム合金やマグネシウム合金等の軽金属を用いて鋳造し、あるいは、ダイカスト成形してもよい。
複数のローラ軸31のそれぞれは、ローラ収容空間24のそれぞれ内部に対して1本ずつの組込みとされており、その両端部が一対の側板部22により支持されて、軸中心を結ぶ線が凸形の円弧状線を描く円弧状の配置とされているが、曲線状の配置とされていてもよい。
ローラ軸31は、SUJ2やSC材を素材としている。このローラ軸31は、耐摩耗性を向上させるため、熱処理されて硬度が高められている。熱処理として、ここでは、光輝焼入れを採用しているが、高周波焼入れしてもよく、浸炭焼入れしてもよい。あるいは、浸炭窒化焼入れしてもよい。
複数のローラ41は、複数のローラ軸31のそれぞれによって回転自在に支持されている。図3乃至図5に示すように、ローラ41は、針状ころ軸受からなっている。この針状ころ軸受41は、外輪42内に保持器43を組込み、その保持器43の周方向に間隔をおいて形成された複数のポケット44のそれぞれ内部に針状ころ45を組み込んだ構成とされている。
外輪42は、SPCやSCM等の低炭素鋼を素材とし、絞り成型により形成されてシェル型とされ、熱処理により硬化処理されて表面硬度が高められている。また、外輪42の軸方向の両端には、保持器43を抜止めする内向き鍔部46が形成されている。
外輪42の熱処理として、ここでは、浸炭焼入れや浸炭窒化焼入れを採用しているが、外輪42をSUJ2やSC材等の高炭素鋼で形成して、光輝焼入れし、あるいは、高周波焼入れするようにしてもよい。
保持器43は、鋼板のプレス成形品またはフォーミング品からなる。保持器43に形成されて周方向に並ぶ複数のポケット44の、隣接するポケット44間に形成された柱部47のそれぞれは、針状ころ45のピッチ円径PCDより内側に配置される内柱部47aと、その内柱部47aの軸方向両端に連設された傾斜柱部47bと、その傾斜柱部47bの軸方向端部に連設されて、針状ころ45のピッチ円径より外側に配置される外柱部47cとで形成されてV字形とされている。
図5に示すように、ポケット44の周方向で対向する一対の側面44aは相反する方向に内方傾斜する傾斜面とされて、ポケット44の保持器外径面側の開口の周方向幅W1が針状ころ45の外径d0より大きくされ、また、保持器内径面側の開口の周方向幅W2が針状ころ45の外径d0より小さくされている。そして、傾斜柱部47bの一部が針状ころ45のピッチ円径PCDより内径側の外周面で接触案内され、保持器43は、その外径面が外輪42内周の針状ころ45を案内するころ転走面42aおよびローラ軸31の円筒状外径面31aに対して非接触の状態でころ案内されている。ここで、図5および図6に示すPは、保持器43と針状ころ45の接触点を示す。
図6に示すように、外輪42の鍔部46の内径d1は、保持器43の端部の端部外径D1より小径とされ、かつ、保持器43と針状ころ45の接触部Pの接触円径d2より大径とされ、その鍔部46の内径面46aとローラ軸31の外径面31a間に間隙50が形成されている。
上記のような保持器43は、図7(a)、(b)に示すように、帯状鋼板60の長さ方向に等間隔に矩形のポケット61をプレス打抜きし、隣接するポケット61間に形成された柱部62を、図7(c)に示すように、帯状鋼板60の片面側にV字状に曲げ成形して保持器素形材Bを形成し、その保持器素形材BをV字状の曲げ成形部が内側となるように円筒状に曲げ成形して両端を接合することにより簡単に形成することができる。
ここで、ポケット61は、プレス打抜きにより形成されたものであるため、ポケット61の内周は剪断面とされ、その剪断面は滑らかであり、その滑らかな剪断面が針状ころ45の円筒状外径面で接触案内されるため、保持器43に対する針状ころ45の回転抵抗が小さく、外輪42回転時のトルク損失は少ないものとされる。
針状ころ軸受41に代えて、円筒ころ軸受を採用するようにしてもよい。
実施の形態で示すチェーン伝動装置は上記の構造からなり、駆動スプロケット2と従動スプロケット4間に掛け渡されたタイミングチェーン5の移動によってクランク軸1の回転をカム軸3に伝達するトルク伝達状態において、負荷の変動によりタイミングチェーン5の張力が変化すると、チェーンテンショナ11により、緩みやバタツキが防止される。
クランク軸1の回転をカム軸3に伝達するトルク伝達時、揺動可能なチェーンガイドA1および固定のチェーンガイドA2のそれぞれの針状ころ軸受41の外輪42は高速移動するタイミングチェーン5との接触により回転し、タイミングチェーン5は転がり案内される。
このとき、針状ころ軸受41は、保持器43がころ案内されて、その保持器43と外輪42は非接触の状態にあるため、針状ころ軸受41の回転トルクは極めて小さく、外輪42は円滑に回転する。そして、その円滑回転する外輪42によってタイミングチェーン5が転がり案内されるため、タイミングチェーン5はスムーズに移動することになり、タイミングチェーン5の移動によるトルク損失は少なく、燃料の無駄な消費が抑制されることになる。
クランク軸1からカム軸3へのトルク伝達時、一方向に移動するタイミングチェーン5によって針状ころ軸受41の外輪42外径面上に潤滑油が運び込まれ、鍔部46の外側面に沿って内周部に流れる潤滑油は、鍔部46の内径面46aとローラ軸31の外径面31a間に形成された間隙50から軸受内部に浸入して、軸受を潤滑する。
ここで、鍔部46の内径面46aとローラ軸31の外径面31a間に形成された間隙50が小さい場合、軸受内部に潤滑油を充分に取り入れることができず、外輪42の転走面やころ31の転動面にピーリング等が発生し、短寿命になる。
しかし、実施の形態では、図6に示すように、外輪42の鍔部46の内径d1を保持器43ところ31の接触点Pの接触円径d2より大径とし、かつ、保持器43の端部外径D1より小径としているため、保持器43を抜止めする状態において、鍔部46の内径面46aとローラ軸31の外径面31a間にきわめて大きな間隙50を確保することができる。
このため、外輪42の外径面から鍔部46の外側面に沿って内周部側に流れ落ちる潤滑油は、間隙50から軸受内部に入りやすく、その浸入する潤滑油によって軸受内部を効果的に潤滑することができ、針状ころ軸受41の寿命低下を抑制することができる。
図8および図9は、針状ころ軸受41の他の例を示す。図8に示す針状ころ軸受41においては、外輪42の鍔部46の内径面46aを、鍔部46の外側面側を大径端とするテーパ面としている点でのみ図6に示す針状ころ軸受41と相違している。ここで、テーパ面からなる内径面46aの小端径は図6に示す鍔部46の内径d1と同径とされている。
図8に示すように、外輪42の鍔部46の内径面46aをテーパ面としておくと、鍔部46の外側面を伝ってテーパ面の大径端側に至る潤滑油は、そのテーパ面の傾斜に沿って軸受内部に向けて流れることになるため、軸受内部に潤滑油を効果的に取り入れることができる。
図9に示す針状ころ軸受41においては、外輪42の鍔部46の外側面46bを凸曲面としている点のみ図8に示す針状ころ軸受41と相違している。図9に示すように、鍔部46の外側面46bを凸曲面とすると、その外側面46bを伝う潤滑油が鍔部46の内径面側に向けて流れ込み易くなり、軸受内部に潤滑油を効果的に取り入れることができる。

Claims (9)
- タイミングチェーンの外周一部に配置されて、そのタイミングチェーンの移動方向に長く延びる側板部を有するガイドベースと、そのガイドベースの側板部により両端部が支持されて、その側板部の長さ方向に間隔をおいて設けられた複数のローラ軸と、その複数のローラ軸のそれぞれに回転自在に支持されたチェーン案内用の複数のローラとからなり、前記ローラが、軸方向の両端部に内向き鍔部が形成された外輪内に保持器を組込み、その保持器の周方向に間隔をおいて形成されたポケット内に前記外輪の内周に形成されたころ転走面と前記ローラ軸の円筒状外周面に沿って転動可能なころを収容したころ軸受とされたチェーンガイドにおいて、
前記ころ軸受の保持器を、その保持器外径面が外輪のころ転走面に対して非接触とされ、かつ、保持器内径面がローラ軸の円筒状外周面に対して非接触とされるようころ案内したことを特徴とするチェーンガイド。 - 前記保持器が、鋼板のプレス成形品またはフォーミング品からなり、隣接するポケット間に形成された柱部が、ころのピッチ円径より内側に配置される内柱部と、その内柱部の軸方向両端に連設された傾斜柱部と、その傾斜柱部の軸方向端部に連設されて、ころのピッチ円径より外側に配置される外柱部を有するV字形とされた請求項1に記載のチェーンガイド。
- 前記ポケットの周方向で対向する一対の側面を、ポケットの保持器外径面側の開口の周方向幅がころの外径より大きく、保持器内径面側の開口の周方向幅がころの外径より小さくなるよう相反する方向に内方傾斜させた請求項2に記載のチェーンガイド。
- 前記柱部の、前記ころで案内される案内面が剪断面とされた請求項2又は3に記載のチェーンガイド。
- 前記外輪の軸方向両端に形成された内向き鍔部の内径を、前記保持器ところの接触部の接触円径より大径とし、かつ、保持器の端部外径より小径としたことを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載のチェーンガイド。
- 前記外輪の鍔部の内径面が、前記鍔部の外側面側を大径端とするテーパ面とされた請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載のチェーンガイド。
- 前記外輪の鍔部の外側面が、凸曲面とされた請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載のチェーンガイド。
- 駆動スプロケットと従動スプロケット間にタイミングチェーンを掛け渡し、そのタイミングチェーンの弛み側チェーンの一側部に、タイミングチェーンの移動を案内する揺動可能なチェーンガイドを設け、そのチェーンガイドの揺動側端部にチェーンテンショナの調整力を負荷して、その揺動側端部をタイミングチェーンに押し付けるようにしたチェーン伝動装置において、
