Definitions
- the present invention relates to a mobile phone terminal and a communication state transition method of the mobile phone terminal, and in particular, when a state in which packet communication is not performed in a state where RRC (Radio Resource Control) is connected to the network for a predetermined time,
- the present invention relates to a mobile phone terminal that transmits a transition request for changing the communication state to a packet idle state to a network and a communication state transition method for the mobile phone terminal.
- the Cell-DCH state In packet communication using the W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) method, it is necessary to secure radio resources. For this reason, in the packet communication in the W-CDMA system, the Cell-DCH state, the Cell-FACH state, the Cell-PCH state, There are a plurality of communication states such as a packet idle (idle) state.
- W-CDMA Wideband Code Division Multiple Access
- the Cell-DCH state is a communication state in which high-speed data communication is possible.
- a communication channel is individually assigned for each user.
- uplink and downlink communication channels are always ensured on the mobile phone terminal side and the network (hereinafter referred to as “NW”) side.
- NW network
- a mobile phone terminal must always perform communication in order to maintain upstream and downstream communication channels. For this reason, in the Cell-DCH state, the current consumption of the mobile phone terminal is larger than in other communication states.
- the mobile phone terminal uses each of the uplink and downlink communication channels together with other mobile phone terminals.
- the data communication speed is slower than that in the Cell-DCH state.
- RACH Random Access Channel
- the current consumption in the mobile phone terminal is smaller than in the Cell-DCH state.
- the downstream communication channel is always maintained (received) even in the Cell-FACH state.
- the Cell-PCH state is a communication state applied when there is no packet data to be communicated.
- the Cell-PCH state is a standby state maintained until packet data to be communicated is generated.
- downlink communication channels are established intermittently. For this reason, in the Cell-PCH state, the current consumption is very small as compared with the Cell-FACH state.
- the Cell-PCH state since the downlink communication channel is also intermittently established, the Cell-PCH state becomes a communication state very similar to a packet idle state described later.
- RRC connection is established between the mobile phone terminal side and the NW side. For this reason, the mobile phone terminal enters a quasi-communication state with a specific base station. Therefore, in the Cell-PCH state, call connection processing when packet data to be communicated is generated and packet communication is resumed, specifically, the transition of the communication state from the Cell-PCH state to the Cell-DCH state, There is a merit that it is faster than the transition of the communication state from the packet idle state to the Cell-DCH state.
- the packet idle state is a communication state in which the above RRC connection is broken.
- the radio resources between the mobile phone terminal and the NW are released, but the packet communication protocol Packet Data Protocol Context (hereinafter referred to as PDP Context) is maintained.
- PDP Context Packet Data Protocol Context
- the process of re-establishing the PDP Context is not required, and only RRC connection is performed. Therefore, the processing time required until the packet communication is executed after changing to the packet idle state is slightly shorter than when the packet communication is activated.
- the NW side uses each communication state described above in order to efficiently use radio resources. Specifically, the NW side has a mechanism for transitioning the communication state of each mobile phone terminal to a communication state that consumes less radio resources based on the parameters. As the parameter, a data amount of packet communication, a time during which packet communication is not performed, or the like is used.
- the mobile phone terminal Normally, when packet communication is started, the mobile phone terminal performs packet communication in the Cell-DCH state. Thereafter, the NW transitions the communication state of the mobile phone terminal to the Cell-FACH state, the Cell-PCH state, and the packet idle state in accordance with a decrease in the data amount of packet communication.
- the NW changes the communication state of the mobile phone terminal to one of these communication states according to the amount of packet communication data or the communication time.
- the communication state transitions to the Cell-DCH state.
- the data amount and communication time of packet communication which are parameters for changing the communication state, are eigenvalues on the NW side. For example, different values can be used for each area.
- the transition of the communication state is performed by the NW, and the mobile phone terminal cannot control the transition of the communication state. For this reason, the mobile phone terminal must maintain a communication state in which the current consumption is greater than the other communication states even when packet communication is not being performed. That is, in order to reduce current consumption, there has been a problem that the mobile phone terminal cannot reduce the current consumption by changing the communication state of the mobile phone terminal to a communication state with a lower current consumption.
- Patent Document 1 describes a communication system in which a mobile phone terminal can change the communication state.
- the mobile phone terminal controls transition of the communication state between the Cell-DCH state and the Cell-FACH state based on the past communication history.
- 3GPP 3rd Generation Partnership Program
- the Fast Dormancy function is a function of notifying the RRC connection release (only the RRC connection is disconnected and the PDP Context is maintained) from the mobile phone terminal to the NW when there is no packet communication data for a certain period of time.
- This function enables the mobile phone terminal to make a transition from each communication state to the packet idle state at once. For this reason, realization of communication state transition control in consideration of reduction of current consumption of the mobile phone terminal is expected.
- the current Fast Dormancy function In the current Fast Dormancy function, after a certain period of time has elapsed without packet communication, the communication state transitions to the packet idle state. For this reason, the current Fast Dormancy function does not operate in consideration of different communication environments and usage methods of mobile phone terminals for each user. Furthermore, since the current Fast Dormancy function changes the communication state to the packet idle state all at once, it is necessary to perform RRC connection again when packet communication is resumed. Therefore, the time until the packet communication is resumed after transitioning to the packet idle state is longer than the time until the packet communication is resumed from another communication state. However, there is a problem that the demerit that the operability is deteriorated becomes conspicuous.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a mobile phone terminal and a communication state setting method for the mobile phone terminal that can solve the above-described problems.
- the mobile phone terminal of the present invention When the mobile phone terminal of the present invention is in a state in which packet communication is not performed under the condition of RRC connection with a network, the mobile phone terminal issues a transition request for setting the communication state with the network to the packet idle state.
- a transition request for setting the communication state with the network to a packet idle state is issued.
- a communication state transition method in a mobile phone terminal having a transition request function to be transmitted to a network, the communication history of the mobile phone terminal, a transmission power value in the mobile phone terminal, or a received electric field in the mobile phone terminal The transition request function is controlled based on the value.
- the Fast Dormancy function can be controlled according to the use environment or use situation of the user.
- FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a mobile phone terminal according to a first embodiment of the present invention.
- the mobile phone terminal is a W-CDMA mobile phone terminal, and includes a user interface unit 101, a control unit 102, and a radio unit 107.

- the Fast Dormancy function of a mobile phone terminal communicates with the NW when packet communication is not performed for a predetermined time (hereinafter referred to as “timer value”) when the mobile phone terminal is in RRC connection with the NW. This is a function for transmitting a transition request for changing the state to the packet idle state to the NW.
- the Fast Dormancy function can be generally called a transition request function.
- the mobile phone terminal has a Cell-DCH state, a Cell-FACH state, a Cell-PCH state, and a packet idle state as communication states.
- the user interface unit 101 has an operation function for the user to perform operations related to packet communication and page update at the time of browsing the site, and a display function for displaying site browsing information and the like.
- Control unit 102 can generally be referred to as control means.
- the control unit 102 controls the Fast Dormancy function based on the communication history of the mobile phone terminal, the transmission power value at the mobile phone terminal, or the received electric field value at the mobile phone terminal.
- the control unit 102 includes a data processing unit 103, a data storage unit 104, a channel transition determination unit 105, and a communication control unit 106.
- the data processing unit 103 determines the presence / absence of packet communication data, and records the no-communication time based on the determination result. In the present embodiment, the data processing unit 103 classifies and records the no-communication time for each communication state based on the communication state transition information notified from the communication control unit 106.
- the data storage unit 104 creates history information (communication history information) using the information recorded by the data processing unit 103, and stores the history information.
- the data processing unit 103 and the data storage unit 104 are included in the recording unit 108.
- Recording unit 108 can be generally referred to as recording means.
- the recording unit 108 holds history information.
- the history information indicates the non-communication time of packet communication in a situation where the web page is browsed for each web page browsed by the mobile phone terminal.
- the history information indicates the no communication time of packet communication in the communication state for each communication state.
- Channel transition determination unit 105 can generally be referred to as setting means.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 controls the operation (for example, activation and timer value) of the Fast Dormancy function.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 sets a timer value based on the no-communication time for the Web page indicated in the history information. In this case, for example, the channel transition determination unit 105 decreases the timer value as the non-communication time for the Web page is longer.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 weights the no-communication time for each communication state indicated in the history information, and sets a timer value based on the no-communication time for each weighted communication state. For example, the channel transition determination unit 105 decreases the timer value as the sum of the no-communication time for each weighted communication state increases.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 sets a timer value based on the transmission power value at the mobile phone terminal or the received electric field value at the mobile phone terminal. For example, the channel transition determination unit 105 decreases the timer value as the transmission power value at the mobile phone terminal increases, and decreases the timer value as the reception electric field value at the mobile phone terminal decreases.
- the communication control unit 106 performs overall communication control including packet communication.
- the wireless unit 107 performs wireless communication with the NW.
- the W-CDMA mobile phone terminal relates to packet communication, particularly when communication data is not generated due to browsing with a browser or the like, depending on the wireless environment in which the user is placed or the usage status or usage history. , Voluntarily release radio resources. For this reason, it becomes possible to reduce current consumption efficiently.
- the W-CDMA mobile phone terminal of this embodiment uses a history value of past no communication time for each browsing page or information such as transmission power during packet communication to start a Fast Dormancy function. By adjusting the, the Fast Dormancy function more suitable for the user's usage environment or usage status is realized.
- a time during which packet communication is not performed becomes long after packet communication for receiving the web page is completed.
- a large power saving effect can be obtained by reducing the timer value after receiving the web page, starting the Fast Dormancy function early, and reducing current consumption. It becomes.
- the mobile phone terminal When browsing of a Web page is started by a user operation, the mobile phone terminal performs packet communication in the Cell-DCH state. Thereafter, transition of the communication state is performed in the NW according to parameters such as the data amount of packet communication or the time during which packet communication is not performed.
- the mobile phone terminal (data processing unit 103) considers that the packet is in a no-communication state, and starts counting the no-communication time. This total is recorded for each communication state of the mobile phone terminal. For example, when the communication state transitions from the Cell-DCH state to the Cell-FACH state during recording, the recording result in the Cell-DCH state and the recording result in the Cell-FACH state are managed individually.
- the mobile phone terminal (data processing unit 103) counts the above-mentioned no-communication time according to the transition of the communication state. Data is recorded sequentially from the status, but if the communication status changes due to browsing of another website by user operation or activation of Fast Dormancy, etc., the data processing unit 103 stops counting the non-communication time, and the total The result is output to the data storage unit 104 provided in the mobile phone terminal.
- the data storage unit 104 stores the total result, if there is a history of accessing the website in the past, and there is no communication time accumulated in the past, the new total result and the past total are stored. An average value with the result is calculated, and the calculation result is stored.
- the mobile phone terminal (channel transition determination unit 105) is related to the Web site currently being browsed by the mobile phone terminal in the past.
- the correction amount of the timer value for starting Fast Dormancy is calculated.
- the mobile phone terminal (channel transition determination unit 105) corrects the timer value using the correction amount of the timer value.
- the mobile phone terminal starts counting the corrected timer value from the time when it is determined that there is no packet communication. Note that, since the transmission power value affects the current consumption of the mobile phone terminal and constantly fluctuates during communication, the channel transition determination unit 105 determines the transmission power value depending on the transmission power value even when the timer value is being counted. The timer value may be corrected.
- the mobile phone terminal (channel transition determination unit 105) notifies the NW that the RRC connection is released, and transitions the communication state to the packet idle state. .
- the channel transition determination unit 105 stops counting the timer value. .
- FIG. 2 is a flowchart for explaining a method for recording (A) no communication time for each Web page being viewed.
- the user interface unit 101 When the user performs an operation such as starting browsing of a website (step S201), the user interface unit 101 notifies the data processing unit 103 of site information (for example, URL) (step S202).
- site information for example, URL
- the data processing unit 103 When the data processing unit 103 receives the site information from the user interface unit 101 (step S203), the data processing unit 103 grasps the Web site to be browsed based on the site information, and the current communication state and packet communication data from the communication control unit 106. The quantities are obtained (steps S204 and S205), and thereafter they are monitored (step S206).
- the data processing unit 103 determines that a packet non-communication state has been established based on the amount of packet communication data being monitored (step S207), the data processing unit 103 starts recording no communication time (step S208).
- the data processing unit 103 records the no-communication time separately for the communication state before the transition and the communication state after the transition.
- the case where the data processing unit 103 monitors the no-packet communication state is taken as an example.
- the determination of the no-packet communication state is performed by the communication control unit 106, and the communication control unit 106 When the communication state is determined, the communication control unit 106 may notify the data processing unit 103 to that effect.
- the packet communication data amount is 0 packet, it can be determined that there is no packet communication, or when a threshold is set for each of the uplink / downlink packet communication, and when the uplink / downlink packet communication data amount falls below the threshold It can also be determined that there is no packet communication.
- the method for determining the no-communication state including others is not limited in this embodiment.
- step S210 when new site information is notified from the user interface unit 101 (step S210), the data processing unit 103 stops recording the no-communication time (step S211), and the web site information and each of the data storage unit 104 are recorded.
- the no-communication time in the communication state is notified (step S212).
- the trigger for stopping the recording of the no-communication time is when the packet communication data is generated or when the communication state is changed due to the packet communication data. Note that a case where packet communication is disconnected due to deterioration of the radio wave environment or the like may be used as an opportunity to start recording no-communication time.
- the data storage unit 104 collates the Web site information notified from the data processing unit 103 with the past history stored in itself.
- the data storage unit 104 calculates an average no-communication time from the past no-communication time and the no-communication time recorded this time (step S214).
- the past no-communication time indicated by the stored no-communication time history information is updated to the average no-communication time (step S215).
- the data storage unit 104 stores the current recorded information as history information as it is (step S215).
- FIG. 1 An example of history information stored in the data storage unit 104 is shown in FIG.
- the stored history information includes site information (for example, URL), an average value of no communication time in each communication state, and the number of updates.
- the information stored in the data storage unit 104 may be in any format as long as the parameters for collation with the past browsing history and the parameters for average value calculation are included.
- the average no-communication time value Tave is the past no-communication time average value Tave_old, the update count N, and the current no-load time. From the communication time Tnew, it is calculated as follows.
- FIG. 4 is a flowchart for explaining a correction method of the timer value for starting (B) Fast Dormancy.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 makes an inquiry about history information to the data storage unit 104 based on the Web site information (for example, URL) (steps S401, S402, S403) notified from the user interface unit 101, and the Web site If there is browsing history information, information on average no-communication time of each communication state is obtained (step S404).
- Web site information for example, URL
- the channel transition determination unit 105 When there is browsing history information of the Web site (step S405), the channel transition determination unit 105 performs a correction calculation of a timer value for starting Fast Dormancy based on the information on the average no communication time of each communication state. Execute (Step S406). When there is no history information of the site (step S405), the channel transition determination unit 105 does not perform correction calculation based on information on average no-communication time of each communication state.
- a reference time for no packet communication is provided in the channel transition determination unit 105 for each communication state, and when the average no communication time of history information exceeds the reference time, the channel transition determination unit 105 The timer value is corrected according to the increment.
- T is the timer value before correction.
- the packet non-communication reference time in each communication state is “Db” in the Cell-DCH state, “Fb” in the Cell-FACH state, “Pb” in the Cell-PCH state, and “Ib” in the packet idle state. To do.
- the average no-communication time of the history information is “Da” in the Cell-DCH state, “Fa” in the Cell-FACH state, “Pa” in the Cell-PCH state, and “Ia” in the packet idle state.
- weighting coefficient used in each communication state is that the amount of current consumed in each communication state is different. By weighting so that Dk> Fk> Pk> Ik, it becomes possible to reflect the influence of each communication state on the reduction effect of the current consumption in the correction value.
- the current consumption of the mobile phone terminal is the largest in the Cell-DCH state, the current consumption is reduced as the cell-FACH state and the Cell-PCH state are changed, and the packet idle state is the most consumed.
- the relationship that the current becomes smaller is reflected in the correction value.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 monitors the current communication state and transmission power value notified from the communication control unit 106 (steps S407 and S408), and performs correction calculation of the timer value from the transmission power value (step S409). .
- the correction value is calculated by the channel transition determination unit 105 calculating an average value of the transmission power and comparing the average value of the transmission power with a plurality of transmission power thresholds preset in the channel transition determination unit 105.
- the Note that the correction of the timer value by the transmission power value is executed when the communication state is the Cell-DCH state and the Cell-FACH state.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 corrects the timer value so that the timer value decreases as the average value of transmission power increases.
- the correction value is calculated based on the average value of the transmission power value over a certain period of time. Is called.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 performs the main correction on the correction value, that is, T1. Further, this correction may be performed continuously while the timer value is counted, and the timer value may be updated as needed.
- step S410 determines that a packet non-communication state has been established based on the packet communication data amount information (step S410) from the communication control unit 106 (step S207 in FIG. 2) (step S207).
- step S411 the count of the corrected timer value is started (step S412).
- the channel transition determination unit 105 instructs the communication control unit 106 to release the RRC connection to the NW (step S415), and sets the timer value to the initial value T. Reset (step S416).
- step S413 When new site information is notified from the user interface unit 101 before the timer value count expires (step S413), the channel transition determination unit 105 stops the timer value count (step S416). The process proceeds to step S403.
- the trigger for stopping the count of the timer value may be when packet communication data is generated or when the communication state is changed due to the generation of packet communication data (steps S417 and S407).
- the present embodiment by recording the no-communication time for each browsing page, it is possible to grasp the usage status (preference) of the user, and use the history information to set a timer value for starting Fast Dormancy. By correcting, it is possible to realize an effective power saving operation and suppression of unnecessary channel transitions according to the usage status (preference) of each user.
- the timer value during browsing the page is set shorter than usual according to the present embodiment, so the packet idle state It is possible to make the transition to the earlier and reduce the current consumption.
- the transition time of the communication state performed in the NW may vary depending on the area. In that case, even if it is the same no-communication time, a big difference arises in the electric current consumed in a mobile telephone terminal in the meantime.
- the mobile phone terminal is Cell- Regarding the time for maintaining the DCH state
- the case (Y) is longer than the case (X). For this reason, even if the generation timing of packet communication data and the non-communication time are the same, the case (Y) consumes more current than the case (X).
- the transmission power value is large, and thus the current consumption is very large compared to a strong electric field environment where the reception electric field is good. Therefore, when the transmission power value is large, it is possible to realize efficient reduction of current consumption by reducing the timer value so that the RRC connection is released earlier and the packet idle state is shifted.
- the mobile phone terminal of the second embodiment is obtained by changing the operation of the channel transition determination unit 105 of the mobile phone terminal of the first embodiment.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 is based on the received electric field value at the mobile phone terminal instead of the transmission power value. Correct the timer value. For example, the channel transition determination unit 105 corrects the timer value so that the timer value decreases as the received electric field value decreases.
- the timer value is corrected only when the communication state is the Cell-DCH state or the Cell-FACH state. However, by correcting the Fast Dormancy start timer with the received electric field value, the Cell-PCH state is corrected. Sometimes the timer value can be corrected.
- the mobile phone terminal of the third embodiment is obtained by changing the operation of the channel transition determination unit 105 of the mobile phone terminal of the first embodiment.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 does not use the transmission power value for the timer value correction calculation. It is used as a material for determining whether or not to execute the Fast Dormancy function.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 performs a motion of not performing the Fast Dormancy function itself in a situation where the transmission power value is equal to or less than the threshold value.
- the Fast Dormancy function is a trade-off with user operability such as resumption time of packet communication due to RRC re-establishment, while reducing the current consumption. For this reason, if the transmission power value is low and the current consumption is acceptable, it may be better not to release the RRC connection in consideration of user operability. Also in this case, information on the received electric field value may be used instead of the transmission power value. In this case, the channel transition determination unit 105 performs a motion of not performing the Fast Dormancy function itself when the received electric field value is equal to or greater than the threshold value.
- the mobile phone terminal of the fourth embodiment is obtained by changing the operations of the data storage unit 104 and the channel transition determination unit 105 of the mobile phone terminal of the first embodiment.
- the data storage unit 104 does not record the non-communication time of (A) described in the first embodiment for each Web page, but simply stores history information of the non-communication time by communication state.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 uses this history information for correcting the timer value. Even in this case, since the user-specific history information is stored, it is possible to perform a power saving operation in accordance with the usage status of each user.
- the cellular phone terminal of the fifth embodiment is obtained by changing the operations of the data storage unit 104 and the channel transition determining unit 105 of the cellular phone terminal of the first embodiment.
- the data storage unit 104 does not record the non-communication time of (A) described in the first embodiment for each communication state, but simply stores history information of the non-communication time for each Web page.
- the channel transition determination unit 105 utilizes this history information for correcting the timer value. Even in this case, since the user-specific history information is stored, it is possible to perform a power saving operation in accordance with the usage status of each user.
