- BSR Buffer Status Report
- the UE transmits BCE in the form of MAC CE (Control Element), and in the conventional LTE system, there are two types of Short BSR and Long BSR. This will be described in more detail with reference to the drawings.
- FIG. 7 is a diagram illustrating a structure of a buffer status report (BSR) defined in an LTE system.
- BSR buffer status report
- FIG. 7A illustrates the data structure of the Short BSR
- FIG. 7B illustrates the data structure of the Long BSR.
- the UE determines based on the number of Logical Channel Groups (LCGs) in which the UE selects and transmits a BSR of Short BSR and Long BSR. That is, if there is data to be transmitted to only one LCG, the short BSR is transmitted. If there is data to be transmitted to two or more LCGs, the long BSR is transmitted.
- the LCG is a grouping of logical channels with similar logical channels of QoS (Quality of Service).
- QoS Quality of Service
- the LTE system uses four LCGs having 0 to 3 LCG IDs.
- a LCG (Logical Chanel Group) ID which is an identifier of a logical channel group, is transmitted to indicate to which LCG a buffer size field indicating a buffer size corresponds.
- the buffer size field is transmitted in order from the logical channel group having LCG ID 0 to the logical channel group having LCG ID 3 without an identifier of the logical channel group.
- FIG. 8 is a diagram illustrating a structure of a MAC subheader defined in the LTE system.

- R is set to 0 as a Reserved bit.
- E is an extension field and includes a flag bit indicating whether an additional field exists in the MAC header. That is, when E is set to 1, it indicates that there is another subheader of R / R / E / LCID type.
- the LCID indicates whether a corresponding logical channel or MAC CE exists as a logical channel ID field. For example, in the existing LTE system, when the LCID is set to 11101, it indicates that the MAC CE including the Short BSR exists. When the LCID is set to 11110, it indicates that the MAC CE including the Long BSR BSR exists. .
- the UE transmits the BSR to the base station when the BSR trigger condition is satisfied.
- the following BSR trigger conditions are defined in the current LTE system.
- the padding bit size of the MAC PDU that can be generated based on the allocated uplink radio resource is equal to or larger than the sum of the size of the BSR MAC CE and the size of the corresponding MAC subheader. In a situation that is smaller than the sum of the size and the size of the corresponding MAC subheader, if there is data that can be transmitted in two or more LCGs, a "Truncated BSR" is triggered.
- Period BSR-Timer the timer used for periodic BSR transmission
- the UE determines the buffer status, that is, the buffer size, for each LCG.
- the buffer size is the sum of the amount of data waiting to be transmitted to the RLC and PDCP buffers for each logical channel
- the buffer size for one LCG is the amount of data waiting to be transmitted to the buffers of all logical channels belonging to the LCG. Means total.
- the UE When the buffer size is determined for each LCG, the UE includes a buffer size index corresponding to the buffer size identified using Table 1 quantized below in the buffer size field of the BSR. Since the buffer size field is 6 bits, the buffer size of the LCG is reported as one of a total of 64 ranges, and a buffer size between 0 and 150 kbytes is reported. Currently, buffer sizes larger than 150kbytes are not displayed correctly, only information that is larger than 150kbytes is reported.
- the base station reports only 150 kbytes or more information without any distinction between the buffer size of more than 150 kbytes and 1500 kbytes, so that the base station is more than 150 kbytes Difficulties occur in efficiently scheduling uplink radio resources to terminals.
- a logical channel may have a total of 16 kinds, and one logical channel is included in one of four LCGs according to the logical channel priority. If more LCGs are defined in later systems, reporting buffer sizes for all LCGs all the time would be a waste of radio resources, according to the conventional Long BSR.
- the present invention proposes to newly define a table for reporting a buffer size exceeding 150 kbytes in addition to the existing Table 1, and to selectively select a table according to the amount of data to be reported by the terminal.
- the present invention proposes to efficiently transmit radio resources by transmitting BSR only to LCGs requiring BSR transmission.

- the new buffer size level has a total of 64 levels, and thus can be displayed in a 6-bit BS field as in the prior art.
- Table 2 below is an example of an extended BSR table indicating a buffer size level of 150 to 1500 kbytes.
- the LCID Logical Channel ID
- Short BSR-CA the short BSR-CA will be described. If the buffer size of the LCG exceeds 150 kbytes, use Short BSR-CA. That is, the LCID of the subheader is set to a value corresponding to Short BSR-CA.
- the Short BSR-CA MAC CE format uses the conventional Short BSR MAC CE format, but the BS field is set based on an extended BSR table indicating a buffer size level of 150 to 1500 kbytes as shown in Table 2.
- FIG 9 illustrates a MAC subheader and a MAC CE format of a Short BSR-CA according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- the UE sets the LCID of the MAC subheader to a value corresponding to Short BSR-CA.
- the BS field of MAC CE is set to an index of an extended BSR table indicating 150 to 1500 kbytes.
- the ID of the LCG is added before the BS field.
- Long BSR-CA will be described. If any of the LCGs has a buffer size greater than 150 kbytes, use Long BSR-CA. That is, the LCID of the subheader is set to a value corresponding to Long BSR-CA.
- a bitmap (BITMAP) field indicating the buffer size information for the LCG is added. Only when the bit corresponding to each LCG in the bitmap is set to 1, buffer size information of the corresponding LCG is included.
- a BSR table ID indicating which buffer size level table the BS field for each LCG refers to may be added.
- FIG. 10 illustrates a MAC subheader and a MAC CE format of a Long BSR-CA according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- the UE uses the Long BSR-CA format of FIG. 10. For reference, even if there is only one LCG to transmit data, the Long BSR-CA format may be used.
- the terminal sets the LCID of the MAC subheader to a value corresponding to the Long BSR-CA in order to use the Long BSR-CA format.
- an LCG bitmap is present in the first byte of the MAC CE, indicating which BS field for which LCG is included in the MAC CE.
- Each bit of the LCG bitmap is mapped one-to-one with the LCG ID, and after the LCG bitmap, the buffer size information of each LCG may be included, and the buffer size information is included only for the LCG in which the corresponding bit of the LCG bitmap is set to 1. do.
- the BS field of each LCG contains a corresponding buffer size level, and a BSR table ID is added in front of the BS field to indicate which table, for example, the buffer size level is determined based on which of Tables 1 or 2 .
