Abstract

The present invention relates to an oil-removing agent and to a method and apparatus for preparing same. A method for preparing a hydrophobic aerogel to be used as an oil-removing agent by modifying a wet-gel into a hydrophobic aerogel through widely known processes performed at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, wherein the method involves directly placing a mesh-structured basket into a reactor and placing a wet-gel into the basket, installing an ultrasonic generator in a lower portion of the reactor so as to radiate ultrasonic waves to the reactor, and applying nitrogen from the lower portion of the reactor to promote the reaction, thereby modifying the wet-gel into a hydrophobic aerogel in a short amount of time. An apparatus for preparing an aerogel using a widely known reactor for modifying a wet-gel into a hydrophobic aerogel has a stopper protrusion formed in the reactor such that a basket is arranged inside the reactor, and comprises an ultrasonic generator and nitrogen injection means installed in the lower portion of the reactor, whereby an aerogel can be prepared in a short amount of time and economical advantages can be achieved. Bead-shaped aerogels, each of which has a diameter of 5 mm or larger, are selected from among the thus-prepared aerogels, and used as an oil-removing agent which can easily remove oils from the sea upon the occurrence of oil spill.
