Definitions
- the invention relates to a tooth-cleaning device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a tooth-cleaning device is known from US 5,365,624 A.
- a dental impression tray for upper and lower jaw which has a variety of rotary drivable brushes that clean as much as possible all the teeth when inserted into the mouth.
- the tooth cleaning devices with dental impression trays and driven brushes are mechanically and constructively very expensive.
- dental cleaning devices with a dental impression tray and nozzles do not achieve satisfactory cleaning of the teeth, since plaque and the biofilm adhering to the teeth can only be removed by very high water pressure, which then increases Injury to the gums would result. Therefore, it works with relatively low water pressure.
- the object of the invention is to improve the dental cleaning device of the type mentioned in that with a constructively low cost gentle yet effective tooth cleaning can be performed.
- the tooth cleaning device according to the invention is based on a dental impression tray for the upper and lower jaw and contains for upper and lower jaw a flexible, hardenable dental impression material as well as a drive device which sets the dental impression tray in mechanical vibrations.
- the user fills in a new tooth cleaning device, the recesses or cavities of the dental impression tray for upper and lower jaw with a curable dental impression material, then takes a dental impression of upper and lower jaw and leaves the dental impression material harden.
- the dental impression material is of the type that it still has a flexibility even after curing. Biocompatible silicones or other flexible impression compounds are preferably used for this purpose.
- the dental impression material is composed of two layers, namely a first matrix and an overlying fine layer, which adapts even better to the tooth surface. After curing of the matrix, the user fills the molded cavities with the material of the fine layer, which is, for example, liquid silicone, and takes a second impression, which then forms the fine layer.
- the user fills in the cavities of the dental impression a dentifrice, puts the dental impression tray in the mouth, closes the mouth so that upper and lower jaw teeth engage exactly in the cavities of the dental impressions and turns on the drive device.
- the entire dental impression tray and thus also the flexible dental impression material get into mechanical vibrations, which not only clean the teeth perfectly and evenly, but also massage the gums.
- the mechanical drive device places the dental impression tray in linear oscillations in the plane of the dental impression tray, so that a simple electromotive drive device can be used, such as a motor vehicle. an eccentric motor, a drive device with an oscillating armature or another vibration device with an imbalance mass.
- a simple electromotive drive device such as a motor vehicle.
- an eccentric motor a drive device with an oscillating armature or another vibration device with an imbalance mass.
- the drive device can also be driven in other ways, for example, by water power with a small water turbine, which is connected to a faucet in the bathroom. Also, the drive device may be integrated in the dental impression tray.
- a dividing wall of the dental impression tray which separates the areas between the upper and lower jaws, is provided with apertures, so that the flexible, hardenable dental impression material passes between the areas of the upper and lower jaw through these openings and is thus better anchored in the dental impression tray, which significantly prolongs the life of the tooth cleaning device.
- the dental impression mass is introduced into the cavities of the dental impression tray so that it projects beyond its edges. This ensures that the flexible dental impression also comes into contact with the gums and this massaged and that injuries of the gums are avoided by the harder edge of the dental impression tray.

- the cavities are bounded by common vertical side walls 4 and 5 and separated by a horizontal wall 6, wherein the horizontal wall 6 may have one or more openings 7 through which the two cavities 2 and 3 communicate with each other.
- a curable flexible dental impression material 8 is introduced and the user takes at the same time of the upper and lower jaw a dental impression, so that in the cavities 2 and 3, the flexible dental impression material takes the shape of the dentition. Due to the openings 7 of the partition 6 is the
- the dental impression material 8 is filled so far into the cavities 2 and 3 that it covers the free ends of the walls 4 and 5 before removing the dental impression.
- the dental impression tray 1 is here connected via a connecting rod 9 with an electromotive drive device 10, which sets the dental impression tray 1 in mechanical vibrations.
- the electromotive drive device 10 can lie in the center plane of the dental impression tray 1 and induce a linear movement along the arrow 11.
- the electromotive drive device 10 can also be arranged essentially at right angles to the center life of the dental impression tray 1 and induce a linear movement in the direction of arrow 11 via the connecting rod 9 onto the dental impression tray 1 via an eccentric 12.
- the dental impression material 8 is made of such material that it remains flexible even after curing. As a dental impression material biocompatible silicone material has been proven.
- FIG. 4 shows in cross-section the tooth-cleaning device during operation, in which teeth 13 are inserted into the corresponding cavities 2 and 3.
- the dental impression material is set in vibration and cleans the teeth thoroughly and evenly by adding a dentifrice in the cavities 2 and 3.
- the electromotive driving device 10 causes only a linear movement along the arrow 11, it has been found that the contact surfaces between the dental impression material 8 and the teeth 13 performs vibrations in all spatial directions, since the tooth surfaces are not exactly perpendicular to the direction of movement of the tooth cleaning spoon. 1
- the electromotive drive device is to be chosen in terms of frequency and amplitude of the oscillations so that a relatively high frequency in the order of 10 to 1000 Hz is achieved and an amplitude in the order of 0.1 to 5 mm, wherein an order of about lmm is preferred.
- the dental impression material 8 largely conforms evenly to the teeth 13 and contacts them over the entire area, the result is an excellent cleaning result, whereby interdental spaces between adjacent teeth are largely cleaned and also the gap between teeth and gums and thus at least parts of so-called tooth pockets. Also, the gums are massaged and by vibration collagen fibers of the periodontium are strengthened.
- Fig. 5 shows a greatly enlarged view of the area A of Fig. 2. It can be better seen that the dental impression material consists of a base material 8 and a much thinner layer 16 arranged above it.
- a dental impression is taken in a first operation with the matrix 8.
- liquid silicone is filled into the cavities 2 and 3, and a second finer impression is taken, forming the fine layer 16, which conforms more precisely to the contour of the teeth.
- the tooth cleaning device according to the invention is constructed mechanically very simple and uncomplicated. Even if the dental impression material 8 is wears out, it can be easily replaced by the used dental impression material is replaced and replaced by a new, which then takes again a dental impression. For smaller abrasions, it is also sufficient to rebuild the mentioned fine layer 16 by filling the existing cavities with new liquid silicone and taking a new impression and curing it, whereby the fine layer is rebuilt.
- the dental impression tray 1 may be made of metal, biocompatible plastic or other materials, for which also flexible materials such as silicone come into question.
- the connecting rod 9 between the driving device 10 and the tooth cleaning spoon 11 may be provided with a releasable coupling to separate the driving device 10 from the dental impression tray 1.
- the drive device 10 is preferably powered by rechargeable batteries with electrical energy, as is known by electric toothbrushes.
