Abstract

Disclosed are an illuminator, a backlight unit comprising the illuminator and a display device using the backlight unit, wherein the illuminator has a structure that efficiently emits heat generated while irradiating light from plural light sources installed on plural substrates. The disclosed illuminator is characterized by including: plural substrates that are stacked with a space therebeween, and plural light sources that are respectively mounted on each substrate which irradiate light. A light-transmitting unit is formed on the upper substrate among the plural substrates so that the light irradiated from the light source installed on the lower substrate may pass through the light-transmitting unit.
