Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for purchasing multimedia contents through wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services. More particularly, the present invention is directed to an apparatus for providing multimedia contents which are interactive with wired/wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services, which comprises: means for connecting TV/radio programs, mutimedia services or other application services which are provided over the wired/wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services with a list of the multimedia contents which a user of the wired/ wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services may purchase; means for displaying the list of multimedia contents which the user may purchase upon the user's request; and means for transmitting the multimedia contents which the user selects from the list of the multimedia contents and purchases by inputting a command to a medium specified by the user right after the user purchases the multimedia contents.

[2] Various types of wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services and application services are currently available. Such services include terrestrial TV, satellite TV, cable TV, IPTV, DMB, analog radio, digital radio, wireless Internet, and mobile Internet. Users can access various multimedia contents which are provided by wired/ wireless broadcasting and communication services or application services over wired/ wireless broadcasting and communication networks.
[3] However, users cannot immediately purchase multimedia contents related to the multimedia contents which users are searching, watching, listening to, playing or using.
[4] Some TV services allow users to make purchase of an item which is related to a TV program being broadcasted. However, such a service is a combination of TV broadcasting and home shopping services, and this service delivers physical items that a user purchased online through offline means. Such a service does not provide any means for a user to purchase multimedia contents which are related to the multimedia contents which the user encounters while searching, watching, listening to, playing or using wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services or application services. [5] Most multimedia contents provision services which are currently available are provided through the Internet or mobile phones. Users shall connect to the Internet and visit a certain web site which sells multimedia contents in order to purchase multimedia contents. Users can also purchase multimedia contents by accessing mobile Internet network or a mobile web site which sells multimedia contents using a mobile phone.
[6] These services, however, do not allow users to purchase multimedia contents which are related to the multimedia contents provided over wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks at a time when the users searches, watches, listens to, plays or uses such multimedia contents. As a result, in order to buy multimedia contents which a user encountered while searching, watching, listening to, playing or using multimedia contents provided by wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services or by application services, the user shall remember which multimedia contents he or she wants to buy and shall purchase the multimedia contents through the use of a separate multimedia contents provision service.
[7] Currently available services do not meet the needs of the users who want to immediately purchase multimedia contents which they encounter while searching, watching, listening to, playing or using multimedia contents provided over wired/ wireless broadcasting and communication networks. [8] Therefore, the primary object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus for providing multimedia contents which are interactive with wired/wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services, which comprises: means for connecting TV/radio programs, mutimedia services or other application services which are provided over the wired/wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services with a list of the multimedia contents which a user of the wired/ wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services may purchase; means for displaying the list of multimedia contents which the user may purchase upon the user's request; and means for transmitting the multimedia contents which the user selects from the list of the multimedia contents and purchases by inputting a command to a medium specified by the user right after the user purchases the multimedia contents.
[9] Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for providing multimedia contents which are interactive with wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services or application services, which comprises: i) connecting TV/radio programs, multimedia contents and other application services which are provided over the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services with a list of the multimedia contents which a user of the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services or application service may purchase; ii) displaying the list of multimedia contents which the user may purchase upon the user's request; and iii) transmitting the multimedia contents which the user selects from the list of the multimedia contents and purchases by inputting a command to a medium specified by the user right after the user purchases the multimedia contents. [15] The step i) is carried out by connecting the list of the multimedia contents which are interactive with the TV/radio programs, multimedia contents and other application services which are provided over the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks with the list of the multimedia contents which the user of the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services may purchase.
[16] The step ii) is carried out by displaying on the user's display equipment the list of the multimedia contents which are purchasable upon the user's request while the user searches menus of wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services or application services, watches/listens to TV/radio programs or multimedia contents, or uses other application services.

Advantageous Effects
[18] As described above, according to the present invention, a user can view a list of purchasable multimedia contents which are related to TV programs, radio programs, multimedia contents, or application services while searching, watching, listening to, playing or using these TV programs, radio programs, multimedia contents, or application services over wired/wireless broadcasting and communication or application service network, and can purchase multimedia contents as soon as the user encounters them and decides to purchase them.
[19] For example, a user can immediately purchase multimedia contents which are related to TV programs, radio programs, multimedia contents, or application services provided over wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks such as weather forecasts, music, food recipe, news and so on, and can transmit the purchased contents to to a medium specified by the user. The medium may be a wired terminal, Internet, or wireless terminal.

[25] Referring to Fig. 1, a general service configuration in order to provide multimedia contents purchase service over wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks is comprised of a wired/wireless broadcasting and communication service or application service system 101, an apparatus 102 for providing multimedia contents which are interactive with wired/wireless broadcasting and communication serivces or application services, and a user 103 who views lists of available multimedia contents and purchase multimedia contents which he or she chose, while searching, watching, listening to, playing or using the multimedia contents or application services provided by wired/wireless broadcasting and communication service or by application service systems through wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks.
[26] The apparatus 102 connects lists of the multimedia contents which can be sold in connection with TV/radio programs, multimedia contents, or application services provided through wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks with such TV/radio programs, multimedia contents or application services, and also manages lists of multimedia contents which are related to TV programs, radio programs, multimedia contents, or application services provided by the wired/mobile broadcasting and communication service or application service system 101 and such multimedia contents.

[30] Figure 2 is a flowchart which illustrates a multimedia contents purchase method according to the present invention. The apparatus 102 connects lists of multimedia contents which users can purchase with TV programs, radio programs, multimedia contents, or application services which are provided through the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks 201.
[31] If a user requests a list of multimedia contents which he or she can purchase while searching, watching, listening to, playing or using TV/radio programs or application services provided by the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication service or application service system 101, the list of multimedia contents is displayed on the screen 202.
[32] Users may or may not purchase multimedia contents on the list 203. If the user does not purchase multimedia contents, the list of the multimedia contents will disappear from the user's display equipment 205.

[1] An apparatus for providing multimedia contents which are interactive with wired/wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services, which comprises: means for connecting TV/radio programs, mutimedia services or other application services which are provided over the wired/wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services with a list of the multimedia contents which a user of the wired/wireless broadcasting, communication services or other application services may purchase; means for displaying the list of multimedia contents which the user may purchase upon the user's request; and means for transmitting the multimedia contents which the user selects from the list of the multimedia contents and purchases by inputting a command to a medium specified by the user right after the user purchases the multimedia contents.
[2] The apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein said means for connecting connects the list of the multimedia contents which are interactive with the TV/radio programs, multimedia contents and other application services which are provided over the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks with the list of the multimedia contents which the user of the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services may purchase.
[3] The apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein said means for displaying displays on the user's display equipment the list of the multimedia contents which are purchasable upon the user's request while the user searches menus of wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services, or application services, watches/ listens to TV/radio programs or multimedia contents, or uses other application services.

[6] The method according to Claim 5, wherein said step i) is carried out by connecting the list of the multimedia contents which are interactive with the TV/ radio programs, multimedia contents and other application services which are provided over the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication networks with the list of the multimedia contents which the user of the wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services may purchase.
[7] The method according to Claim 5, wherein said step ii) is carried out by displaying on the user's display equipment the list of the multimedia contents which are purchasable upon the user's request while the user searches menus of wired/wireless broadcasting and communication services or application services, watches/listens to TV/radio programs or multimedia contents, or uses other application services.
[8] The method according to Claim 5, wherein said medium in said step iii) is selected from the group consisting of a wired terminal, a wireless terminal and the Internet.
