Abstract

 本発明による液晶表示装置は、第1、第2副画素SP-A、SP-Bを含む画素を備えている。第1副画素SP-Aの液晶層における液晶分子の基準配向方位は、第3、第4基準配向方位を有することなく、第1、第2基準配向方位を有しており、第2副画素SP-Bの液晶層における液晶分子の基準配向方位は、第1、第2基準配向方位を有することなく、第3、第4基準配向方位を有している。ある垂直走査期間において、第1副画素SP-Aの液晶層に印加される実効電圧の絶対値は第2副画素SP-Bの液晶層に印加される実効電圧の絶対値よりも高く、別の垂直走査期間において、第2副画素SP-Bの液晶層に印加される実効電圧の絶対値は第1副画素SP-Aの液晶層に印加される実効電圧の絶対値よりも高い。
