Abstract

　本発明の目的は、偏光子１の片面に透明保護層２が形成され、偏光子１の他面には、任意に粘着剤層７及び透明高分子フィルム３の順に形成され、最も外側には粘着剤層６が形成されており、当該粘着剤層６を介して画像表示素子２０に貼り合わされる偏光板１２，１３に対して、高温環境下でも良好な耐久性を付与し、特に、画像表示素子２０に貼り合わせて高温環境下に晒されたときに、偏光板端部に発生しやすい盛り上がりや光漏れを抑制することである。 　本発明の偏光板は、上記偏光板１２，１３の最も外側に配置され、画像表示素子２０に貼り合わされる粘着剤層６を、２３～８０°Cにおいて０．１５～１０ＭＰａの貯蔵弾性率を示す層とするものである。このような高い弾性率をもつ粘着層を最外層に配置することで、薄型軽量化されるとともに、高温環境下で良好な耐久性を示す偏光板が得られる。また、上記の偏光板を配置した画像表示装置も提供される。
