Abstract

 揮発ムラおよび塗布ムラがなく、透過率のばらつきが小さく(5%以下)、二色比の高い(20以上)光学異方膜を有する積層体を簡易な操作で安定して製造できる製造方法を提供する。 剪断速度が大きいと粘度が小さくなる性質(チクソトロピー性)を有するコーティング液を用い、基板に塗布するとき大きな剪断速度を加えてコーティング液の粘度を小さくし、塗布ムラを防ぐ。コーティング液を過度に希釈して粘度を小さくしているわけではないため揮発ムラも生じにくい。コーティング液は液晶相を呈する濃度範囲にあるので、コーティング液中のリオトロピック液晶化合物を剪断応力により配向させることができる。
