Abstract

 非磁性基板上に、裏打ち層と、配向制御層と、磁気記録層と、保護層とを少なくとも備える垂直磁気記録媒体であって、前記配向制御層は、前記基板側からシード層と、第1中間層と、第2中間層とを含む3層以上から構成され、前記第1中間層を構成する結晶粒は、前記シード層を構成する結晶粒上にそれぞれエピタキシャル成長され、前記第2中間層を構成する結晶粒は、前記第1中間層を構成する結晶粒上にそれぞれエピタキシャル成長されるとともに、前記第2中間層を構成する結晶粒は、前記第1中間層を構成する結晶粒に比べ微細化されている垂直磁気記録媒体を提供する。
