Abstract

The present invention relates to a single mechanism lock system (1) easily mountable to vehicle sliding doors.

Description

A LOCK SYSTEM
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a single mechanism lock system easily mountable to vehicle sliding doors.
Background of the Invention
In the state of the art, lock systems for sliding doors comprise two different drive mechanisms. Internal and external opening levers operate via a single pivot. An intermediate lever which can receive drive from both of the levers operates the opening mechanism. Its assembly is difficult due to size problems and it increases the weight of the vehicle.
The Japanese patent document No. JP2004308164, an application known in the art, discloses an easily mountable lock system which prevents noises when closing the sliding door.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to realize an easily mountable, lighter and more economical lock system.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The lock system realized to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which,
Figure 1 is the top view of a lock system.
Figure 2 is the exploded view of a lock system. The components given in the figures are individually numbered where the numbers refer to the following:
1. Lock system
2. Locking mechanism
3. Integrated opening mechanism
4. Body
5. Internal lever 6. External lever
7. Support
8. Pin
9. Torsional spring
10. Lock lever 11. Latch
12. Ball
13. Shaft
The inventive sliding door system (1) essentially comprises a locking mechanism (2), an integrated opening mechanism (3) and a body (4) that carries them (2 and
3). The locking mechanism (2) has a latch (11) that provides locking, a lock lever
(10) that moves the latch (11) and a shaft which goes through the lock lever (10) and provides a center for it to rotate around. The integrated opening mechanism
(3) comprises internal and external opening levers (5 and 6); a support (7) on which the said levers (5 and 6) rest; a pin (8) around which the internal lever (5), the external lever (6) and the support (7) can rotate; and a torsional spring (9) for keeping the opening mechanism (3) provided around the pin (8) and the locking mechanism (2) away from each other. The internal lever (5) is stimulated when the door is intended to be opened from inside. The external lever (6) is the piece which is stimulated when the door is intended to be opened from outside. The support (7) is the piece which is located in between and which lies parallel to the wide surfaces of the internal lever (5) and the external lever (6). The support (7) enables the internal lever (5) and the external lever (6) to move synchronized therewith. The pin (8) goes through the internal lever (5), the external lever (6) and the support (7) and provides a central point for them to rotate around. Function of the torsional spring (9) here is to keep the angle formed by the locking mechanism (2) and the opening mechanism (3) fixed (in cases where there is not an impact for opening the door) such that the pin (8) around which it is arranged is the intersection point. The lock lever (10) conveys the force it receives from the ball (12) located at the end of the support (7) to the latch (11). The latch (11) is the piece for keeping the door locked by remaining within the lock hole. The ball (12) is actually an extension of the support (7) and it is in contact with the lock lever (10).
During opening of the lock, when opening from inside the internal lever (5) and when opening from outside the external lever (6) rotates around the pin (8) clockwise (looking at the lock mounted in the vehicle from the top). During this rotation movement, the levers (5 and 6) also enable clockwise movement of the support (7) around the pin (8). The structure shaped like a ball (12) provided at the end of the support (7) is in contact with the lock lever (10). When the support (7) is rotating, the ball (12) ensures that the lock lever (10) rotates around the shaft
(13) by exerting force on the lock lever (10), and the lock lever (10) ensures that the latch (11) connected to it releases the door from the lock.
The torsional lever (9), while keeping the support (7) and the opening levers (5 and 6), that is the opening mechanism (3), far away from the lock lever (10) and tight by means of the force it exerts on the support (7), when there is no force exerted on the door handles for opening the door, it maintains the latch (11) in its place with the force it exerts on the lock lever (10). In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the internal and external levers (5 and 6) and the support (7) are provided together, connected to each other, in the form of a single mechanism.
Thanks to the inventive sliding door lock system (1), the problems of excess weight, and the uncontrolledness and mounting difficulty originating from the sizes, which occur due to the fact that the locks comprise two different drive mechanisms, are eliminated. In addition to these, cost of the sliding door lock mechanism is reduced by providing that the same process can be performed by a single mechanism instead of two different mechanisms.
Within the scope of this basic concept, it is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive lock system (1). The invention can not be limited to the examples described herein; it is essentially according to the claims.

Claims

1. A lock system (1) comprising a body (4) and a locking mechanism (2) which has a latch (11) that provides locking, a lock lever (10) that moves the latch (11), and a shaft that goes through the lock lever (10) and provides a center for it to rotate around; characterized with a support (7) which rotates around the pin (8) upon receiving the drive coming from the internal and external levers (5 and 6) by means of at least one torsional spring (9) that transfers the drive coming from the user to the lock lever (10) and keeps the locking mechanism (2) fixed at locked status when there is no drive coming, and compresses in the case that the user drives the door from inside with an internal lever (5) rotatable around a pin (8) or - the user drives the door from outside with an external lever (5) rotatable around the same pin (8), and which support (7) transfers the drive to the lock lever (10) via the ball (12) that is provided at the end thereof.
