[19] FIG 1 is a perspective view of an assembled peeling equipment, and FIG 2 is a perspective view of a disassembled peeling equipment. The peeling equipment 1 has the following configuration. [20] A cylindrical container 2 that can contain unpeeled materials, such as potatoes and chestnuts, is provided. The cylindrical container 2 is mounted on a supporter 6. A cover 3 is mounted on the cylindrical container 2. And fixing legs 6-1 are attached to the lower edges of the supporter 6. [21] A water supply pipe 13-1 equipped with a water supply valve 13 is connected to the upper portion of the outer circumference of the cylindrical container 2. And, an air pipe
15-1 equipped with an air valve is connected to the lower portion of the outer cir-
cumference of the cylindrical container 2. And a drainage pipe 14-1 equipped with a drainage valve 14 is connected to opposite to the air pipe 15-1.
[22] Further, a door unit 20 is coupled to the outer surface of the cylindrical container 2.
And a motor 7 is located under the cylindrical container 2. The shaft 8 of the motor 7 is protruded from the supporter 6 to the center of the cylindrical container 2. Further, a cutting unit 30 is mounted on the shaft 8. A collection chamber 11 is formed between the cutting unit 30 and the supporter 6. And a drop guiding unit 40 is mounted to the inner circumference of the cylindrical container 2. Reference number 9 is packing member.
[23] The door unit 20 has the following configuration.
[24] A door 21 with a handle 24 is coupled to the side of the cylindrical container 2 for letting out peeled materials. And, a hinge 25 is coupled to the side of the door 21. And a lock 26 is coupled to the door 21. And a guide 22 having curved surfaces is coupled to the inside wall of the door 21.
[25] The guide 22 is provided to guide unpeeled materials to the center of the cylindrical container 2, such that the guide 22 prevents the unpeeled materials from rotating only along the inner circumference of the cylindrical container 2. Further, the curved surface of the guide 22 works regardless of the rotating direction of the cutting unit 30. The guide 22 may be mounted to the inner circumference of the cylindrical container 2.
[26] The cutting unit 30 has the following configuration.
[27] A projection 32 having a bolt hole 32-1 where a bolt 10 is insertable is formed at the center of the upper surface of a rotary plate 31. And air holes 31-1 are formed through the rotary plate 31. And a shaft insertion groove 33 where the shaft 8 is insertable is formed at the center of the lower surface of the rotary plate 31.
[28] Further, an attachment hole 34- 1 is formed on the upper surface of the rotary plate
31, such that a blade 36 is fixed in the attachment hole 34-1. Furthermore, a placing groove 34 is formed on the upper surface of the rotary plate 31, such that a protruding member 38 is fixed in the placing groove 34. The cross section of the placing groove 34 may be either semicircular (
) or triangular (
)•
[29] Further, the attachment hole 34- 1 is closly arranged parallel with the placing grooves
34. The blade 36 is fixed into the attachment hole 34-1 , and the protruding member 38 is fixed in the placing groove 34 . So, the blade 36 parallels with the protruding
member 38. Reference number '37 'is a bolt.
[30] The protruding member 38 is made of soft synthetic resin(such as rubber) having a high frictional coefficient. And the protruding member 38 may be made of metal or other various materials. The protruding member 38 makes unpeeled materials bounce up and rotate using the rotatoryforce of the rotary plate 31, such that the surface of the unpeeled materials is peeled evenly. During the peeling process, all sides of the unpeeled materials are peeled evenly such that the original shape of the materials are kept. And the protruding member 38 lifts the unpeeled materials repeatedly during peeling process.
[31] Further, air is supplied above the rotary plate 31 through the air holes 31-1. Air is injected into the collection chamber 11 through the air pipe 15-1 when the air valve 15 is opened. In other words, the air holes 31-1 allows air to be injected from the lower side to the upper side of the rotary plate 31. It is hard to peel the unpeeled materals when the rotational speed of the rotary plate 31 is equal to the vortex of the water, but the air bubbles solve this problem.
[32] The drop guiding unit 40, which guides dropping of unpeeled materials lifted by the vortexe of water, is coupled to the inside of the cylindrical container 2.
[33] A hollow cylinder 41 has an insertion hole 41-1. And a cylinder 41 has an attachment part 42 having fastening holes 42-1. And a bar 45 is inserted in the cylinder 41.
[34] Loading holes 45-1 are formed at regular intervals penetrating the bar 45. And, an up/down-reciprocating member 44 having a retaining portion 45-2 with connecting holes 45-3 is formed at the lower end of the bar 45. Further, a pressing plate 46 is inserted into the retaining portion 45-2.
[35] The up/down-reciprocating member 44 equipped with the pressing plate 46 is inserted into the cylinder 41 such that the height is adjustable. And, the up/ down-reciprocating member 44 is fixed by a bolt 49-1 and a nut 49-2 to maintain the adjusted height.
[36] The operation of the peeling equipment 1 of the embodiment is described hereafter.
[37] Potatoes, sweet potatoes, and chestnuts are put into the cylindrical container 2 through the hopper 3-1 formed on the cover 3. A chestnut has a shell and a skin. The shell is removed by rotating the rotary plate 31 without supplying water and air.
[38] In detail, since a chestnut has a shell and a skin, the chestnut with the shell is first put into the container 2 and then the shell is removed while rotating the rotary plate 31 in 1000 RPM. After the shell is clearly removed, the skin is removed while rotating the rotary plate 31 in 500 RPM.
[39] After the shells are peeled, the chestnut are put into the cylindrical container 2. The water supply valve 13 connected to the upper portion of the outer circumference of the cylindrical container 2 is opened, and water is supplied. And then the cover 3 is closed
by the lock 5. The lock 5 consists of a hook 5-1 and a locker 5-2.
[40] After the skin is removed, the rotary plate 31 of the cutting unit 30 is rotated by actuating the motor 7 while a compressor is actuated. The air valve 15 is opened and air is blown into the collection chamber 11 through the air pipe 15-1.
[41] Air flown into the cylindrical container 2 through the air holes 31-1 on the rotary plate 31 creates air bubbles. The air bubbles continuously push up and rotate chestnuts to prevent cutting same side cutting. The air bubbles also reduces the impact chestnuts receive when hit by the blade 36.
[42] Potatoes and sweet potatoes can be peeled in the cylindrical container 2 as described above.
[43] Further, the door unit 20 equipped with the guide 22 is attached to the inner circumference of the cylindrical container 2.
