Abstract

In an engine warming-up operation and in case the signal of a sensor for deciding whether or not a vacuum retention is necessary (or a sensor for detecting the movement of a vehicle, for example) is abnormal to indicate that the sensor or a communication system is abnormal, the decision that the vacuum retention is unnecessary is made erroneous, and the ignition timing delay angle is quit or suppressed to perform the vacuum retention. In case the sensor is detecting noises, on the other hand, the decision that the vacuum retention is necessary is made erroneous, and the ignition timing delay angle is neither quit nor suppressed, but the ignition timing delay angle control is continued to continue the engine warming-up operation.
