Abstract

A service outlet floor box includes a base assembly (5) and a lid frame assembly (7) for fastening to the base assembly (5). The lid frame assembly (7) includes a lid frame (35) for fastening to the base assembly (5) and a lid (37) pivotally mounted in the region of a first edge on the lid frame (35). A second edge of the lid (37) opposite the first edge comprises three protrusions (48, 51) between which two recesses are defined. The lid (37) is formed partly of a moulding of plastics material and partly of a metal plate 39, which extends into each of the three protrusions (48, 51). A metal handle (45) is slidably mounted in recesses in the lid, the recesses being closed at their inner ends to prevent the handle contacting cables. A latching module (157) is detachably secured to the lid. Cable outlet units (141) are mounted on the lid frame assembly (107) and cable retainers (153) fixed below them.
