Abstract

 走査電極と維持電極を有する放電セルを複数備えたプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法であって、初期化期間と書込み期間と維持期間とを有するサブフィールドを複数配置して1フィールド期間が構成され、前記維持期間において前記走査電極及び前記維持電極に交互に印加する維持パルスは、1つのピークをもつ発光を前記放電セルで発生させる第1の維持パルスと2つのピークをもつ発光を前記放電セルで発生させる第2の維持パルスとのいずれかであり、前記走査電極に印加する前記第2の維持パルスの立上り時間と前記維持電極に印加する前記第2の維持パルスの立上り時間とを、そのサブフィールドの前記維持期間に発光させる前記放電セルの割合(点灯率)に基づきそれぞれ独立に設定する。
