Description

The present invention relates to a method for protection against insects, including termites of building surfaces. Currently, the antitermite protection of the frame before construction is achieved by the use of the following methods: sprinkling, spraying or spreading liquid products containing a dose of insecticide.
Another method is to unroll a film with pre-existing strips and an insecticide.
The decree of June 27, 2006 relating to the application of articles R 1 12.2 and R 1 12 A of the Code of the construction and the housing regulates the protection of the building against their infestation by termites.
This decree defines the types of methods that can be used for the protection of the building, either by a physical, physicochemical or control barrier.
This decree makes non-compliant treatment of the soil by insecticide spraying.
The present invention aims to provide effective protection against termites in accordance with this new regulation.
For this purpose, it has already been proposed to apply to a surface to be treated a polyurethane-based composition containing an insecticidal agent. It is known that polyurethanes are obtained by condensation of polyisocyanates with polyols.
Such an application of a composition based on polyurethanes is however not likely to be satisfactory given the cost of polyurethanes, and especially the corrosive and harmful, even toxic polyisocyanates whose implementation requires an individual equipment of specific protection and in particular a protective mask.
The present invention aims to overcome this disadvantage. For this purpose, it proposes a method for protection against insects, in particular termites of building surfaces, characterized in that a polymerizable composition consisting of a dispersion or an aqueous emulsion of a binder is sprayed onto the surface to be treated. film forming An insecticide-containing gene capable of curing by evaporation of water in less than 12 hours so as to obtain a continuous uniform protective film at the inner part of which the insecticidal agent is encapsulated. It should be noted that in the context of the invention, the term "polymerizable composition" must be understood in a very broad sense and in fact means any composition that is capable of forming on the soil, after application and drying, a continuous film which is extends over the entire surface to be built, allowing the passage of ducts and pipes. This film perfectly matches the contours of the frame and thus forms a physico-chemical barrier preventing the penetration of insects, including termites throughout the protected area by the presence of the insecticide which is encapsulated in the inner part of the film.
According to the invention, the film-forming binder is chosen from the group formed by acrylic, styrene-acrylic or vinyl polymers or copolymers, as well as by natural latices, siloxanes, dispersions or emulsions of natural or synthetic waxes and dispersions. or polyolefin emulsions and mixtures thereof.
The method according to the invention therefore allows to cover before construction of the frame the surface to be treated with a coating forming a continuous film after drying.
According to the invention, at least 50 ml are applied, as a rule of the order of 50 ml to 500 ml of polymerizable composition per square meter of surface to be treated.
On application, this composition spreads homogeneously over the surface to be protected and forms, after drying, a uniform film whose thickness is generally of the order of 250 μm.
Such a film has the advantage of not penetrating into a support such as sand or embankment after spraying.
It can be applied not only on essentially horizontal surfaces but also on vertical or steeply inclined surfaces (concrete blocks, shuttering panels, external pipe walls, bituminous coatings, waterproof membranes, etc.) so as to to form a continuous and durable physicochemical protective barrier of a nature to satisfy the legislation.
The insecticides added to the polymerizable composition are variable and concern all the molecules belonging to class pt 18 of the biocidal directive.
The following insecticides may be used: bifenthrin, chlorfenapyr, fipronil or permethrin.
By way of example, from 0 to 10% by weight of bifenthrin can be added to the polymerizable composition. According to another characteristic of the invention, the polymerizable composition contains mineral fillers and / or pigments.
These components serve to color the polymerizable composition and thus to better control its application on the surface to be treated. In addition, the mineral filler makes it possible to significantly lower the cost of this composition, and also to facilitate and improve its drying after application.
The mineral fillers thus added to the polymerizable composition may advantageously be chosen from the group consisting of calcium carbonate, dolomite, talc, mica, barium sulfate, alumina hydrate, lithopone, zinc sulphide, and silica and mixtures thereof.
These are common mineral fillers readily available commercially. Such mineral fillers may advantageously have a particle size of between 0.1 and 100 μm, preferably between 5 and 50 μm.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the polymerizable composition contains conformational additives preferably selected from the group consisting of dispersing agents, antifoaming agents, thickening agents, coalescing agents and mixtures thereof.
These conformation additives have the function of making it possible to adapt the polymerizable composition so as to make it possible to obtain a coating which spreads homogeneously over the surface to be protected on application and forms a uniform thin film after drying. According to a particularly advantageous characteristic of the invention, the polymerizable composition contains, in weight proportion, 10 to 50%, preferably 30 to 40% of film-forming binder.
Selon une autre caractéristique particulièrement avanta- geuse de l'invention, la composition polymérisable renferme en proportion pondérale :According to another particularly advantageous characteristic of the invention, the polymerizable composition contains, in a proportion by weight:
- de 0 à 70 % de charges minérales,from 0 to 70% of mineral fillers,
- de 0 à 1 % d'agents dispersants,from 0 to 1% of dispersing agents,
- de 0 à 1 % d'agents antimousse, - de 0 à 5 % d'agents de coalescence,from 0 to 1% of anti-foam agents, from 0 to 5% of coalescence agents,
- de 0,2 à 5 % d'agents épaississants, etfrom 0.2 to 5% of thickening agents, and
- de 0 à 0,5 % d'agents mouillants.from 0 to 0.5% of wetting agents.
In order for the process according to the invention to be completely satisfactory, it is necessary that after its application, the polymerizable composition dries in less than 12 hours in order to enable work to be carried out on the site the day after this application. particular for pouring a concrete slab.
However, such a requirement can sometimes cause problems in cold weather or in the presence of high humidity. To remedy this drawback, it is proposed, according to another characteristic of the invention, to add to such a polymerizable composition a setting activating agent, in particular consisting of a hydraulic binder, preferably dispersed in an organic solvent.
This hydraulic binder can for example be constituted by Portland cement, a calcium aluminate or a calcium sulfate optionally combined with known additives such as to adjust setting times, by delaying or accelerating them, such as as an example lithium carbonate and / or sodium bicarbonate.
According to the invention, 30 to 70% by weight of setting activating agent is preferably added to the polymerizable composition.
The invention also relates to an insect protection film, particularly antitermites obtained by the implementation of the aforementioned method.
This protective film is characterized in that it consists of a continuous uniform film at the inner part of which an insecticidal agent is encapsulated.
It should be noted that such a film can also act as a water repellent film to prevent rising damp. The characteristics of the process and the protective film which are the subject of the invention will be described in more detail with reference to the examples below of polymerizable compositions which can be applied by the process according to the invention.
