Abstract

A snow chain device consisting of couples of elements that may be applied and fixed to any tyre, so as to obtain the complete covering of the same, comprising: - front and back loomes (1) and (2), reciprocally connected by snowbreak chains (3) provided with shock absorber springs (4), respectively provided with reference notches (5) and special bearings (6) that will facilitate the correct placing on the rim (C) of a tyre (P); - further snowbreak chains (7), provided with shock absorber springs (4) fixed onto the back loom (£) and such as to be hooked to the supports of the front loom (1) so as to completely surround said tyre (P); - supports (8), for hooking said snowbreak chains (7), connected, by means of the reciprocal threaded ends (9), to a central clamp (10) able to force the sliding thereof inside the guides (11) of the front loom (1), thus determining the retraction thereof and consequently determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre (P), through putting into traction said snowbreak chains (7) linked thereto.

Description

QUICK APPLICATION DEVICE OF SNOW CHAINS TO THE TYRES
The present invention concerns a new device consisting of snow chains having such a structure as to be applied in an easy and quick way to the tyres.
It is well known that at present often it is very difficult for drivers to apply snow chains, because the application requires many and complex hooking and fixing procedures, specially in bad weather conditions.
It is the aim of the present invention to completely solve above mentioned difficulties by means of a device according to the present invention that may be applied to the tyres in short time and such as to be of high efficiency.
The aim set forth is reached by means of snow chains consisting of couples of elements that may be applied and fixed to any tyre, so as to obtain the complete covering of the same.
In a possible structural variant the device according to the present invention consists of one single element, for the same purpose.
The advantages of the device according to the present invention are evident due to its simplicity and quickness in application. The device according to the present invention will be described more in detail hereinbelow relating to the enclosed drawings.
Figure 1 shows a snow chain device according to the present invention, in an axonometric view.
Figures 2, 3 and 4 show the further stages of application of the snow chains according to the present invention to a tyre. Figure 5 shows an axonometric view of the variant of the device according to the present invention, with One single element, with the relative installation as shown in figure 6. Figure 7 shows a snowbreak chain variant, out of compressed rubber.
The enclosed figures show a snow chain device according to the present invention, consisting of couples of elements A-B that may be applied to the same tyre, following to a 180° rotation, until a complete opening has been obtained, comprising:
- front and back loomes 1 and 2, reciprocally connected by snowbreak chains 3 provided with shock absorber springs 4, respectively provided with reference notches 5 and special bearings 6 that will facilitate the correct placing on the rim C of a tyre P;
- further snowbreak chains 7, provided with shock absorber springs 4 fixed onto the back loom 2 and such as to be hooked to the supports of the front looml so as to completely surround said tyre
P; - supports 8, for hooking said snowbreak chains 7, connected, by means of the reciprocal threaded end§ 9, to a central clamp 10 able to force the sliding thereof inside the guides 11 of the front loom 1, thus determining the retraction thereof and consequently determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre P, through putting into traction said snowbreak chains 7 linked thereto.
As shown in figure 2, the reference notches 5 and the back bearings 6 allow the correct placing of said element A onto the rim of said tyre P, while the operating of said clamps 10 determines the retraction of said supports 8, acting onto the threaded ends 9 thereof, thus determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre P, by putting into traction said snowbreak chains 7 linked thereto.
Furthermore, as shown in figures 3 and 4, the 180° rotation of said tyre P allows to perform the assembling of said element B onto said element A, the correct placing thereof being indicated by the coupling of the pins 12 onto the projections 13 on said front looms 1.
The successive putting into traction of said snowbreak chains 7 of said element B, determines the blocking of the same onto the corresponding element A and consequently onto said tyre P. In the variant shown in figure 5, the device according to the present invention comprises:
- front and back looms 14 and 15, reciprocally connected by snowbreak chains 3 provided with shock absorber springs 4 respectively provided with reference notches 5 and special projections 16 for making easy the correct placing onto the rim C of said tyre P;
- snowbreak chains 17-18, provided with shock absorber springs 4, fixed onto the back loom 15 and such as to be hooked to the special supports of the front loom 14 for completely surrounding said tyre
P;
- couples of supports 8, for hooking said snowbreak chains 17, connected through the reciprocal threaded ends 9, to a central clamp 10 able to force the sliding thereof inside said guides 11 of the front loom 14, thus determining the retraction thereof and consequently determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre P through the putting into traction of the snowbreak chains 17 linked thereto;
- a support 19, for hooking snowbreak chains 18, connected, through a threaded rod 20, to a clamp 21 that forces the sliding thereof inside a guide 22 on said front Iooml4, determining the retraction thereof so as to reinforce the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre P, through the putting into traction of the snowbreak chains 18 linked thereto. As shown in figure 6, the reference notches 5 and the back projections 16 allow the correct placing of the snow chains onto the rim C of said tyre P, while the operating of the clamps 10, operating onto the threaded ends 9 of the supports 8, determines the retraction of the same, and consequently the putting into traction of the snowbreak chains 7 linked thereto, thus determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre P.
The successive operating of the clamp 21, acting onto the threaded rod 20 linked to the support 19, determines the retraction thereof and consequently the putting into traction of the snowbreak chains 18 linked thereto, thus helping to the blocking and the stability of the whole structure onto said tyre P.
According to figure 7, the snowbreak'chains 23 may be realized out of compressed rubber, replacing the above described metal chains.

Claims

1. A snow chain device, consisting of couples of elements (A, B) that may be applied onto the same tyre, following to its rotation of 180°, until the complete covering is obtained, characterized in:
- front and back loomes (1) and (2), reciprocally connected by snowbreak chains (3) provided with shock absorber springs (4), respectively provided with reference notches (5) and special bearings (6) that will facilitate the correct placing on the rim (C) of a tyre (P);
- farther snowbreak chains (7), provided with shock absorber springs (4) fixed onto the back loom (2) and such as to be hooked to the supports of the front loom (1) so as to completely surround said tyre (P);
- supports (8), for hooking said snowbreak chains (7), connected, by means of the reciprocal threaded ends (9), to a central clamp (10) able to force the sliding thereof inside the guides (11) of the front loom (1), thus determining the retraction thereof and consequently determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre (P), through puttingHnto traction said snowbreak chains (7) linked thereto.

A device according to claim 1, characterized in that the reference notches (5) and the back bearings (6) allow the correct placing of said element (A) onto the rim of said tyre (P), while the operating of said clamps (10) determines the retraction of said supports (8), acting onto the threaded ends (9) thereof, thus determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre (P), by putting into traction said snowbreak chains (7) linked thereto. *

A device according to claim 1, characterized in that the correct placing of said element (B) onto said element (A) is indicated by the coupling of the pins (12) onto the projections (13) on said front looms (1), while the successive putting into traction of said snowbreak chains (7) of said element (B), determines the blocking of the same onto the corresponding element (A) and consequently onto said tyre (P).
4. A device according to claim 1, characterized in:
- front and back looms (14) and (1£), reciprocally connected by snowbreak chains (3) provided with shock absorber springs (4) respectively provided with reference notches (5) and special projections (16) for making easy the correct placing onto the rim (C) of said tyre (P);
- snowbreak chains (17-18), provided with shock absorber springs
(4), fixed onto the back loom (15) and such as to be hooked to the special supports of the front loom (14) for completely surrounding said tyre (P); - couples of supports (8), for hooking said snowbreak chains (17), connected through the reciprocal threaded ends (9), to a central clamp (10) able to force the sliding thereof inside said guides (11) of the front loom (14), thus determining the retraction thereof and consequently determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre (P) through the putting into traction of the snowbreak chains (17) linked thereto;
- a support (19), for hooking snowbreak chains (18), connected, through a threaded rod (20), to a clamp (21) that forces the sliding thereof inside a guide (22) on said front loom (14), determining the retraction thereof so as to reinforce the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre (P), through the putting into traction of the snowbreak chains (Iv8) linked thereto.

A device according to claim 1, characterized in the presence of the reference notches (5) and the back projections (16) allow the correct placing of the snow chains onto the rim (C) of said tyre (P), while the operating of the clamps (10), operating onto the threaded ends (9) of the supports (8), determines the retraction of the same, and consequently the putting into traction of the snowbreak chains (7) linked thereto, thus determining the blocking of the whole structure onto said tyre (P), while the successive operating of the clamp (21), acting onto the threaded rod (20) linked to the support (^9), determines the retraction thereof and consequently the putting into traction of the snowbreak chains (18) linked thereto, thus helping to the blocking and the stability of the whole structure onto said tyre (P). A device according to claim 1, characterized in that snowbreak chains (23) may be realized out of compressed rubber, replacing the above described metal chains.
