Description

DISINFECTANT AND DEODORANT DOSER
FOR PURIFICATION OF AIR CONDITIONING AND VENTILATION SYSTEMS OR FOR DISINFECTION AND DEODORIZATION OF ROOMS
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Area of application
This Invention belongs to the category of air conditioning and ventilation maintenance through the disinfection and deodorization of living and working premises. Technical problem
Air conditioning systems consist of air conditioning chambers, ventilation ducts and openings.
Generally, air conditioning operation involves humidification, which, combined with favorable temperature, provides perfect conditions for the growth of microbes, the potential carriers of contagious diseases, such as Legionnaires' disease and other.
The maintenance of air conditioning systems requires human effort and involves costs.
Prior art It appears that there is no effective solution for the disinfection of air conditioning systems without human engagement.
There are some gelatin-like agents being placed in Ventilation ducts, but their efficiency is not such as to significantly reduce the disinfection costs.
At present, the only safe method of disinfecting air conditioning systems is their manual flushing.
The essence of the Invention
The primary purpose of the Invention is the maintenance and purification of air conditioning and ventilation systems and the disinfection of premises to prevent the Legionnaires's disease and the spread of other bacteria which pose a threat to human health.
The Legionnaires's disease is caused by Legionella pneumophila bacterium. The disease is contracted by inhaling air contaminated by the bacterium. This type of pneumonia, after an incubation period of 2 to 10 days, kills 15 to 20 per cent of the diseased. The air conditioning and ventilation systems which are not maintained are hotbeds for the germination and spread of Legionella.
The secondary purpose of the Invention is to ensure continuous deodorization and disinfection of rooms.
The main components of the Doser are Inox casing (DIN 17441) containing a plastic liquid storage tank, an electromotor pump, a sprayer, an electronic unit with serial connection to PC and a battery (hereinafter: "device").
The Doser operates through the electronic unit which controls the electromotor pump by activating it at certain set intervals over a day, a week or a month.
The electronic unit ensures that the pump is switched on and off at adjusted intervals, which is directly reflected on the quantity of liquid pumped out. That is how the disinfecting-deodorizing time is set. Depending on the size of the room or the ventilation opening, we can adjust the quantity of driven fluid as well.
The power of the pump and the sprayer at the side of the device is so adjusted that aerosol or fog is formed which is easily conveyed by natural air streaming through the ventilation opening and further on into the rooms.
The device can be mounted on the wall or the floor of the ventilation duct.
Optimum effect is achieved by placing it at the source of air streaming or the beginning of the ventilation system where air streaming is most intensive.
Before use the device should be connected to 12 V 12 W DC supply, then to PC or the control unit for adjusting the times of pump activation and the length of pump operation.
Upon completed adjustment, the device can be disconnected from PC or the control unit and left to operate independently.
The 12V, 12 W electrical supply is weak enough not to cause an electric shock. In case of unpredictable outage, the device contains a battery which can keep it going for another hour or so, depending on how often the pump is started within an hour and the duration of its operation.
The liquid storage tank is fitted with a level indicator connected to the electronic unit. When the tank is empty, the electronic unit's red light will flash and thus prevent the pump from restarting. Information on the discharge of fluid is also transferred to PC or the control unit.
The front side of the device has a key with which the pump can be directly started, if required, and aerosol ejected. When the key is released, the device continues to operate normally. The device does not require any special servicing, it suffices to make sure that during refilling no impurities escape into the tank in the form of particles or the like, in order to prevent the clogging of the sprayer.
Sketches
The attached sketches constitute a part of the description of the Invention, illustrate its optimum design considered so far and explain its operating principles.
Fig.1 shows the casing (top view, front view, side view).
Detailed description of at least one way in which the Invention can be applied Details of an assumed implementation of the Invention are shown in the attached sketch.
Fig 1. under (1), shows the pump forcing the liquid out of its tank (3) through a hose to a nozzle (5) with which the liquid is dispersed. The process is started by means of a PC-programmed electronic unit or a control unit to ensure that the process runs in desired intervals. The electronic unit is supplied from an external
12 V source (6). In case of outage, the casing (7) contains an extra 12 V battery which will ensure continued supply.
A thinkable problem is the clogging of the nozzle, but it can be easily removed from the casing, blown and cleaned. The casing is made of Inox (DIN 17441) and is resistant to humidity and corrosion.
The liquid storage tank is plastic (ABS), corrosion resistant and requires minimum maintenance.
The area of application The Invention is a highly practical device for disinfecting air conditioning and ventilation systems and for deodorizing rooms. The Invention itself does not require any special maintenance, it suffices to select a convenient location for its installation, adjust the desired operating regime and leave the device there to do its job. Occasional checking of the liquid level and
100 refilling, if required, will be sufficient.
While working with disinfectants or deodorants the inflammability of the liquid should be checked and precautions taken if found that the liquid is inflammable, as recommended in the manufacturer's operating instructions. Several types of room disinfectants and deodorants are available on the market,
105 of which for safe operation of the device we would recommend ZIN products.
