Abstract

The invention relates to a mattress pad (1) for the top face of the mattress (2) of a bed in the form of an outer envelope and a hollow chamber that is enclosed by said outer envelope and can be filled with water. The outer envelope is provided with an inlet valve (5) that communicates with the hollow chamber and encompasses a tightly sealable water filling mechanism. An electrical connection and a heating device that is connected thereto and is used for heating the filled water are assigned to the mattress pad (1). The aim of the invention is to improve a mattress pad in such a way that the hollow chamber is generally free from damping inserts such as randomly oriented materials, fleeces, or similar while keeping the thickness (13) of the mattress pad (1) only as small as is necessary for the damping functions of the water that flows back and forth to create the comfortable feeling of a calm water mattress during lying as a result of the small thickness even though there are no damping inserts.
