Definitions

  • the present invention concerns the technical sector relating to the production and installation of surfaces made of wood or other similar material, used for making floors, tilings, platforms or the like, mainly outside or in wet environments.
  • this invention concerns the technical sector relating to the production of constructing elements necessary to set up a floor or tiling as above mentioned. Together with the construction of said elements, a series of accessories must be provided as well, in order to allow a perfect installation of the single constructing elements.
  • the system and the device object of this invention aim at constructing said accessories as well as wood surfaces made of a series of said constructing elements.
  • wood surfaces for civil or industrial purposes are realized by assembling the various elements forming the surface, without any intersection between each other, according to the so-called "open joint" system.
  • These wooden elements, worked to form the surfaces are placed one close to the other at a prefixed distance, without creating any connection between them; in any case, even when these elements are connected in some way each other, open joints are always used, leaving gaps between the boards.
  • This constructing system is particularly used for wood surfaces, since the wood is a material that is subject per se to size alterations due to temperature changes.
  • the gap between the boards allows the wood to freely dilate, following the moisture produced by the atmospheric agents, without causing pressures and distortions to the wooden boards connected by it. Similarly, when the wood contracts due to dryness, this reversed movement of the boards does not alter the structure.

  • This invention aims at realizing a closed joint that avoids the above-mentioned hygienic drawbacks and additionally cushions any effect of the increase in volume of the same wood, both in radial and longitudinal direction, in the presence of moisture or heavy rain, so preventing the deformation of the wood surfaces, with the result to keep the original stability and uniformity of the same surface.
  • This can be reached, according to the present invention, by the application of a closed joint between the boards, made of any elastic material (rubber, caoutchouc, silicon, plastic) , as long as the boards used, which can take any geometrical shape according to their thickness and wideness.
  • This joint has a central hole that makes it empty inside, for the entire length, so as to give it the flexibility necessary to cushion the natural expansion of the wood.

  • the boards forming the surfaces are specifically made to get the notches where the elastic joint must be fitted, both at the top and on the sides. Abstract
