Abstract

The inventive electromagnetic coupler for transmitting electric power comprises two electric machines provided with two rotors connected to a first shaft (7) and to a second shaft (5), respectively, wherein the armatures of said electric machines are mounted between the two rotors. Said invention is characterised in that the windings (9) of the two armatures are common therefor, a first air gap (E1) is embodied between the part of one rotor and the part of the other rotor, a second air gap (E2) is embodied between the common windings (9) of the two armatures and the other part of one of rotors and an additional air gap (ES) is embodied between the windings (9) and said part of the other rotor in such a way that a main magnetic flux collected in the first air gap (E1) is combined with the magnetic flux from the second air gap (E2).
