Abstract

The method invention relates to a method for the production of metal powder, alloy powder and composite powder having an average particle diameter D50 of no more than 25 µm from an initial powder having a larger than average particle diameter. The particles of the initial powder are processed in a deformation step in order to form platelet-shaped particles. The ratio of the particle diameter to the particle thickness thereof is between 10: 1 and 1000: 1. The platelet-shaped particles are communited in the presence of a grinding aid, and the metal powder, alloy powder and composite powder is obtained.
