Abstract

The invention relates to the use of a directly swollen liquid crystal as reaction medium. The reaction medium comprises a directly swollen liquid crystal with an aqueous phase which is a solution of at least one ionic compound, an organic phase which is an organic solvent which is not soluble in water, a detergent agent phase with an anionic detergent agent and a co-detergent phase. The above is not coloured or opalescent with a hexagonal, cubic, lamellar or sponge structure, of use particularly for the synthesis of mineral particles or the synthesis of polymers.
