Abstract

The invention concerns a new class of deubiquitinating enzymes and methods of deubiquitination using these enzymes or functional fragments or derivates thereof. In one aspect, the invention covers a method for enzymatic deubiquitination of a molecule which has been ubiquitinated to form a ubiquitinated molecule, comprising the step of contacting the ubiquitinated molecule with an enzyme, wherein the enzyme or a domain thereof has at least 20% amino acid sequence identity with the TRAFB domain defined by Cezanne amino acid residues 160-416 (SEQ ID NO:1).
