- a line of least resistance 7 is formed in the covering 4 and delimits a flap 9 for covering the system 2 with an airbag and a peripheral region 10 surrounding the flap 9.
- the flap 9 has, substantially from above, a rectangular shape with rounded corners. Conventionally, and as will be described later, when the airbag 3 deploys in a direction D (FIG. 2), it moves the flap 9 relative to the peripheral region 10. The peripheral region 10 then forms a frame delimiting, in place of the flap 9, a passage opening for the deployment of the airbag.
- the line of least resistance 7 is formed in a conventional manner, for example using a laser beam.
- the line 7 is for example constituted by a succession of spaced cutouts crossing the inner layer 6 and formed from the inner face of the covering 4 so as not to be visible from the outside of the dashboard 1.

- the dashboard 1 comprises a structure 12 for reinforcing the peripheral region 10, a panel 13 for reinforcing the flap 9 and a hinge 14 for connecting the reinforcement panel 13 to the reinforcement structure 12.
- the reinforcing structure 12 comprises in particular a curved web 16, which substantially matches the shape of the peripheral region 10 in the vicinity of the line of least resistance 7, and a channel 18 for guiding the cushion 3 during its deployment.
