Abstract

The invention concerns a container (1) comprising a wall, including an orifice through which the liquid held in the container can exit from the container, a support (11), and a spout (12) having a first end (22), for drinking or pouring out the content of the container, and a second base end (23). The spout (12) is pivotally supported by the support (11) so as to be able to pivot about an axis of rotation (18) which forms an acute angle with the region of the wall enclosing the orifice, such that the rotation of the spout (12) about its axis of rotation from a first closed position towards an open position, causes part of the base end (23) of the spout to penetrate inside the orifice and enables the liquid to pass through the orifice in the spout (12) and out of the first end (22). The orifice is initially sealed with a sealing material layer. The rotation of the spout (12) from the closed position to the open position causes the sealing layer to be perforated by said end base (23) of the spout (12), and hence causes the orifice to be opened.

Description

The present invention relates to a container for liquid, in particular a container for beverages, and a cap for such a container.
It is known to use a straw for drinking with a beverage container. For example, straw can be offered as a separate item, initially wrapped in a plastic wrap that is attached to the beverage container. Such an arrangement, while being relatively inexpensive, may however not prove practical since the plastic envelope containing the straw may detach from the container at the point of sale or shortly thereafter, so that the consumer notices that the straw is absent at the time of consumption.
Another arrangement is to integrate the drinking straw into the beverage container. An example of such an arrangement is disclosed in document JP-A-2000- 77947. In this patent application, there is disclosed a beverage container having an integrated straw of generally J shape. The straw can pivot around a axis which is parallel to a wall of the container. The rotation of the straw around this axis induces that a first end of the straw pierces the wall of the container and at the same time presents the second end, for drinking, of the straw at a practical angle for the user. According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a container for liquid comprising: a wall having an orifice through which the liquid contained in the container can exit the container; a support ; and a beak having a first end for drinking or pouring the liquid and a second base end, the spout being pivotally supported by the support so as to be able to pivot around an axis of rotation which forms an acute angle with the region of the wall surrounding the orifice, so that the rotation of the spout about its axis of rotation from a closed position to an open position, allowing to drink 'or pour the liquid from the container, causes the penetration of a part of the base end of the spout in the orifice to allow liquid to pass through the orifice in the spout and outside the first end, while the orifice is initially sealed with a layer of sealing material and that the rotation of the spout from the closed position to the open position causes the sealing layer to be pierced by the part of the base end of the spout and, consequently, the opening of the orifice.
This arrangement provides an alternative for providing a spout or drinking straw which is attached "permanently" to the liquid container. It allows the spout to be fully contained in the container area if desired, which can be particularly important for those who have to transport or otherwise store containers, such as beverage containers or the like.
The support can be a part of the wall of the container. As an alternative, the holder can be a separate component which is attached to the wall of the container.
Preferably, the support has a closing portion intended to close the first end of the spout when the spout is in the closed position. This simply allows a new tight closure of the container because the spout can be simply pivoted in the closed position to be then closed by the closing portion. The closing portion of the support can for example be a vertical wall against which the first end of the spout bears when the spout is in the closed position.
The spout can be supported by the support so as to be able to pivot by means of a ball joint, the spout carrying the ball joint of the joint and the support carrying the ball joint housing of the joint. As a variant, a part of the base end of the spout is supported, with the possibility of rotation, in a housing, the interior of this housing being provided with an annular recess in which a complementary part of this base end is received to retain the aforementioned end in the housing. This complementary part can be a ball joint.
A breakable strip can connect the spout to the support, the strip being broken when the spout is rotated from the closed position. The consumer can see that the breakable strip has been broken, which can then be proof that someone has handled the container.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a cap for a container for liquid which has a wall having an opening through which liquid can exit from the container and which is initially sealed by a layer of sealing material, stopper comprising: a support having a through hole for alignment with the opening of the container when the stopper is fixed to the container and a spout having a first end for drinking or pouring the liquid from the container and a second base end, the spout being pivotally supported by the support so as to pivot about an axis of rotation which forms an acute angle with the surrounding region of the support the through hole of the support, so that the rotation of the spout about its axis of rotation from a closed position to an open position, allowing the liquid to be drunk or poured, causes the sealing layer to be pierced by the base end of the spout and the penetration of part of the base end of the spout into the through hole of the holder, whereby, when the stopper is attached to the beverage container, liquid can pass through an orifice of a container for beverage, through the orifice passing through the support, into the spout and outside the first end for drinking.
The spout can be supported with the possibility of rotation by the support by means of a ball joint, the spout carrying the ball joint of the joint and the support carrying the ball joint housing.
A breakable strip can connect the spout to the support, the strip being broken by rotation of the spout from the closed position.
The support may have a closing portion allowing the first end to be closed for drinking from the spout, when the spout is in the closed position.
Une forme de réalisation de la présente invention sera maintenant décrite au moyen d'un exemple non limitatif et en faisant référence aux dessins d'accompagnement, parmi lesquels :An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by means of a nonlimiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, among which:
- La figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'un exemple d'un récipient pour boisson en accord avec la présente invention avec un bec dans une position fermée ;- Figure 1 is a perspective view of an example of a beverage container in accordance with the present invention with a spout in a closed position;
- la figure 2 est une vue en perspective du récipient pour boisson de la figure 1 avec le bec dans une position pour boire ;- Figure 2 is a perspective view of the beverage container of Figure 1 with the spout in a position for drinking;
As is known in drink containers of this type, the upper wall 3 has an orifice for drinking (not shown) which is initially sealed by a portion of a plastic material and a sheet forming a seal provided in the container 1.
In the example presented, a plug 10 is in two parts, namely a support 11 and a spout 12. In the example presented, the support 11 is produced as a separate component which is connected to the upper wall 3 of the beverage container 1. In other embodiments, the support 11 may be integrally formed as part of the top wall 3 of the beverage container 1. The support 11 and the spout 12 are suitably made of plastic . The support 11 has a generally flat base portion 13 which has a through hole 14. In the specific example shown, the base portion 13 is thermofused or welded by micro-flame to the upper wall 3 of the beverage container 1, so that the through hole 14 of the base portion 13 rests on the drink hole (not shown) of the upper wall 3 of the drink container 1. The support 11 also has a ball joint housing 15 of a ball joint. An annular housing 16 is provided just inside the mouth 17 of the ball joint housing 15. The mouth 17 and the annular housing 16 of the ball joint housing 15 are bevelled so that the planes on which the housing rests annular 16 and the mouth 17 of the ball joint housing 15 form an angle relative to the plane of the base portion 13 of the support 11, as indicated by the axes 18, 19. The angle α between the axes 18, 19 can so appropriate be equal to 40 ° or equivalent. The support 11 also has a vertical wall 20 at the end opposite to the ball joint housing 15. The vertical wall 20 has a recess 21 in its upper portion.
The spout 12 is a hollow tubular structure which, in the example shown, has a rectangular cross section, although other shapes, of section can be used. The spout 12 has a first end for drinking 22 and a second base end 23. The base end 23 is formed with a ball or ball 24 which cooperates with the ball housing 15 of the support 11 to form the ball joint. An annular rib 25 around the ball joint 24 of the spout 12 engages in the housing 16 of the ball joint housing 15 of the support 11 to retain the spout 12 in the support 11. The ball joint 24 of the spout 12 can be adapted to be snapped into place. the ball joint housing 15 of the support 11.
In the normally closed position shown in Figures 1 and 3, the drinking end 22 of the spout 12 is housed in the housing 21 of the vertical wall 20 of the support 11. The base end 23 of the spout 12 is formed in such a way that it is coplanar with the plane of the base portion 13 of the support 11 in the closed position, as can be seen in particular clearly in FIG. 3. A breakable strip (not shown) can be welded or otherwise formed on the vertical wall 20 and the drinking end 22 of the spout 12 to provide a tamper-evident feature. When the consumer wishes to consume the beverage contained in the beverage container 1, the consumer rotates the spout 12 around the ball joint. This rotation around the axis 19 results in the fact that an edge of the base end 23 of the spout 12 describes an arc below the plane of the base portion 13 of the support 11. This action consequently cuts the layer sealing provided in a conventional manner on the orifice for drinking from the upper wall 3 of the beverage container 1, thereby opening the orifice for drinking. The rotation of the spout 12 by 180 ° fully opens the spout 12. As can clearly be seen from FIGS. 2 and 4, this rotation around the axis 19 presents the drinking end 22 of the spout 12 at an appropriate angle for the consumer.
If the consumer does not wish to consume all of the contents of the beverage container 1 at a particular time, then the spout 12 can simply be returned to its closed position. In this position, the drinking end 22 of the spout 12 is relocated in the housing 21 of the vertical wall 20 of the support 11, which effectively closes the drinking opening of the container 1.
As can be seen, the plug 10 can be entirely contained in the zone. of the beverage container 1, which makes the packaging and storage of the beverage containers 1 more direct and practical. The stopper 10 can be fixedly connected or integrally formed with a wall, preferably the upper wall 3, of the container for drink 1, minimizing or eliminating at the same time the risk that the spout 12 is lost during storage or transport. The spout 12 is very simple to open, in particular since there is a large portion which can be gripped, which is particularly suitable for young or older consumers. The preferred embodiment also provides an ability to be closed since the drinking end 22 of the spout 12 can be closed by the vertical wall 20 of the support 11, when the stopper 10 is in the closed position.
Embodiments of the present invention have been described with reference to the illustrated example. However, it will be understood that variations and modifications can be made to the examples described, while remaining within the scope of the present invention. In particular, the spout 12 can be used not to drink directly from the end 22 but to pour the liquid contained in the container 1. In addition, the content of this container is not necessarily a drink but can be any liquid to be stored in a container.
