Definitions
- the present invention relates to a communication line separator, to be installed to a socket on a wall of a residential or business building, capable of providing communication services with maximum efficiency by utilizing a PCB board with preset circuits in order to allow use of maximum capacity of the telephone jacks without installation of additional jacks and to allow easy installation, additional installation, or change of communication lines, and, further, capable of preventing possible data loss through separation of voice lines and high speed data lines.
- the conventional process for addition of a voice data line in a residential building proceeds in a manner that a new external line is connected to a M. D. E, the wall-type telephone socket plate (cover) connected to a 2-pair or 4-pair communication cable is separated, and then an additional telephone socket for the new line is installed after the corresponding line has been line checked. Since this conventional process for addition of an external line requires professional skill, a common user cannot undertake the installation personally, demanding him additional time and costs.
- the conventional communication device connection assembly can be classified in general into two classes: the centipede type assembly and the so-called 110 block type assembly.
- the former being designed to allow one to three external input lines to be inputted into each household, and lined serially to telephone jack of the household, is a means not usable in the future, for it does not comply with the International Communication Standard (T568A).
- the communication device connection assembly using a 110 block is similar to that of the present invention in that the inputted external line and the data line are directly connected to the cable as pre- wired with the telephone jacks of the household.
- the punch-down type "110 block" is complicated in installation in case an external line of future generation or express data line such as xDSL shall be added; it is further known to require much time and high costs in case an independent line (exclusive line) shall be used for each telephone jack; and since the data flows even to unnecessary locations where the external line is connected, speed of the transmission is lowered and loss of the data may occur.
- the present invention conceived to solve the above problems, aims to provide a communication line separator, to be connected to a conventional wall type telephone jack, comprising outlets for insertion of modular plugs therein, so that the communication line separator complies with the communication standard, allows a user to easily use the maximum capacity of a line, and overcomes the above technical and economic difficulties.
- Another objective of the present invention is to overcome the above technical and economic difficulties, to comply with the communication standard, and to allow a user easy use by application of a pr- wired PCB board in modularjack assembly.
- Fig. 1 illustrates a communication line separator in accordance with the present invention as it is installed.
- Fig. 2 is a plane view of the circuit board of the communication line separator in accordance with the present invention.
- Fig. 3 illustrates another embodiment of the communication line separator in accordance with the present invention
- Fig. 4 is a front view of a modular jack assembly equipped with the communication line separator in accordance with the present invention.
- Fig. 5 is a plane view of another circuit board of the communication line separator in accordance with the present invention.
- Fig. 6 is a bottom view of the circuit board in Fig. 5.
- Fig. 7 illustrates a circuit board of a supplementary modular jack assembly in accordance with the present invention.
- the communication line separator 110 in box form comprises, at one side, a modular adaptor type input modular jack 120 which is to be connected to a wall-side output phone jack 100 installed at a wall, and, at another side, two output modular jacks 130, 130'.
- Inside of the communication line separator 110 contains a circuit board 140 which connects the input modular jack 120 to the output modular jacks 130, 130' in a manner that the usable 4 pins among a total of 8 pins of the input modularjack 120 are separated to each pair and then connected to the respective output modular jacks 130, 130'.
- the input modular jack 120 needs first be connected to the wall-side output phone jack 100.
- the wall-side output phone jack 100 is of a conventional socket type having 4 holes
- a separate connecting cable having, at one end, a plug capable of insertion into the wall-side output modular jack 100 and, at the other end, a module plug
- the wall-side output modularjack 100 is of a modularjack type
- a separate connection cable having modular plugs at both ends may be used, or the communication line separator 110 can also be so constructed that its input modular jack 120 is made to fit the wall- side output phone jack 100 to allow a direct combination therewith.
- a telephone can be connected to the output modular jack 130, to which an external line may preferably be connected via the International Standard T568A, among the output modular jacks 130, 130' at another side of the communication line separator 110; and, in case an external line is added to, another telephone needs to be connected to the other output modular jack 130' of the communication line separator 110, after a connection to the M. D. F. has been established.
- FIG. 3 illustrating another embodiment of the communication line separator in accordance with the present invention, shows a communication line separator 110' using all 8 pins for connection with 4 external lines, comprising 4 output modular jacks
- 130a, 130b, 130c, and 130d and an inside circuit board which connects the 8 pins, as separated by pair, to their respective output modular jacks 130a, 130b, 130c, and 130d.
- FIGs. 4 and 5 illustrating, respectively, the front view and circuit board of a modular jack box installed with a communication line separator in accordance with the present invention, show that the box 200 comprises box type modular jack assembly 210, here an example with two modularjack assemblies 210, inside of the box.
- Each modular jack assembly 210 comprises, an input modular adaptor 220 located at one side, a plurality of output modular adaptors located in sequence to the input modular adaptor, and a circuit board 240 which, located in the inside of the modular jack assembly 210, connects the input modular adaptor 220 to each output modular adaptors 230.
- each connecting edge 250 of the circuit board 240 to be extruded inside of the corresponding input or output modular adaptors 220, 230, comprises 8 pins
- a separate supplementary modularjack assembly 310 shall be installed, comprising an input modular adaptor 320, an output modular adaptor 330, and an internal circuit board 340 to be constructed to perform the same connection function as the circuit board 240 of the above modular jack assembly 210.
- the present invention allows two telephones to be used over two lines in voice communication, by connecting two voice level communication lines (UTP lines) inputted from outside to the corresponding input module adaptors 220 of the two module jack assemblies 210, and by connecting the output module adaptors 230 to phone jacks to which the telephones are to be installed. Furthermore, since the input modular adaptor 220 is connected to the output module adaptors 230 through the circuit board 240 as described above, an immediate contact can be established by a simple insertion of a modular plug linked to a phone jack for a location of communication into any one of the output modular jacks 230, making an installation, additional installation, or change very easy.
- UTP lines voice level communication lines
- a supplementary modular jack assembly 310 is installed adjacent to the above modular jack assembly 210, whereby the exclusive data line from outside is connected to the input modular adaptor 320 while a modular plug linked to a desired location of data receipt/transmission is inserted into the output modular adaptor 330, in order to ensure that the data are received only by terminals such as a computer at pre-determined locations.
- the present invention as described above, by providing a line separator comprising a PCB within it, to be used as connected to a wall-side output phone jack, allows a user to use an additional telephone through simple connection thereof to another output modular jack of the communication line separator, making a line checking and installation of an additional telephone socket for an additional telephone line unnecessary, and thus, allowing the user to save time and costs for the addition of a line.
- the voice line modular jack assembly 210 and of the express data line modular jack assembly 310 not only enables the inside of the modular jack assemblies to be neatly cleaned, but also enables easy installation, additional installation, or change of communication lines.
- the present invention allows to prevent loss of speed and data in data communication via computers, and to provide modular jack assemblies which are conform to the International Communication Standard. In other words, the present invention, capable of solving the problems of the prior arts as stated above, is industrially very useful.
