Abstract

The present invention relates to a metal surface treatment agent that characteristically contains (A) at least 1 vanadium compound and (B) at least one metal compound containing at least 1 metal selected from the group consisting of zirconium, titanium, molybdenum, tungsten, manganese, and cerium. The present invention also relates to a metal surface treatment method using the foregoing treatment agent and the corresponding surface-treated metals. The present invention provides a metal surface treatment agent that does not contain chromium and that can be used to impart an excellent corrosion resistance and alkali resistance to metals. The present invention provides a metal surface treatment method that uses the foregoing treatment agent and also provides the corresponding surface-treated metals.
