Description

Vereinzelungseinrichtung mit einstellbarem Vereinzelungs- spaltSeparating device with adjustable separating gap
The invention relates to a separating device for the individual removal of notes of value, in particular banknotes from a stack of sheets arranged in a magazine with drive rollers which are drivable for abutment against the end face of the stack of sheets, transport rollers which can be driven in the pulling direction and opposite to these drivable retaining rollers which run parallel to the transport rollers form a separating gap extending to an edge of the stack end face, the take-off, transport and retaining rollers each being mounted on mutually parallel shafts in a frame such that the width of the separating gap between the transport rollers and the retaining rollers is adjustable.
Separation devices of the type mentioned above with friction separation of the banknotes, in particular banknotes, produce the separating effect in the separation gap, which is formed by larger transport rolls and smaller, slowly counter-rotating return rolls. The separating effect depends strongly on the gap size and is also influenced by the properties of the notes to be removed, for example the paper quality of banknotes or their condition of use. The separation gap, for example, for thinner notes or in the case of poor separation properties such as strong friction or sticking of the notes to one another, must be set more narrowly in order to keep the number of double prints or multiple prints within permissible limits. The same applies to wear on the retaining rollers. However, if the separation gap is set too narrow, the notes to be removed are compressed and / or damaged and traffic jams can occur. An unfavorable gap setting does not always have an immediate effect, it can only become apparent when there are a large number of separations or when the apparent quality fluctuates.
With today's separating devices of the type mentioned at the outset, as are used, for example, in automated teller machines, a standard setting is first specified, which is corrected manually by the customer service or by the operator at the place of use. Since the banknote magazines have to be reloaded relatively frequently in an automated teller machine and, in particular, the state of use of the banknotes fluctuates greatly, the separating gap of the separating device has to be set frequently, it depending on the experience of the operator concerned how quickly the correct setting value can be found. Usually, a few proofs are required to find the right setting.
The invention is based on the object of designing a separating device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that a reliable individual deduction can be ensured without the customer service department having to constantly strive to adjust the separating device.
To achieve this object, the individualization device according to the invention has a device for detecting withdrawal errors, an actuating device which can be driven by an actuator to adjust the width of the separating gap and a programmable control device for controlling the actuator depending on the type or frequency of the detected withdrawal errors.
The solution according to the invention thus enables the separating gap to be readjusted itself, incorrect settings being caused by inexperience of the service person. nals can be avoided in that the control device can fall back on optimal setting values determined in the laboratory and stored in the control device.
One possibility for detecting deduction errors is that the separating device comprises means for detecting the number of multiple deductions per unit of time. For example, if the double deduction rate, i.e. the number of double deductions per unit of time too high, the separation gap must be narrowed. An adjustment value can be assigned to the measured number of double deductions, which is output as a difference value compared to a basic setting or as an absolute value. The assignment between the double deduction rate and the readjustment value represents an empirical value, taking into account the banknote type and the banknote quality. These values are preferably stored in tables in the program of the control device. The separating gap is then narrowed via the adjusting device in accordance with the predetermined readjustment value.
Discharge errors which result from an excessively narrow separation gap can be detected, for example, by providing a time measuring device for measuring the period of time that elapses between the emission of a trigger signal and the execution of the sheet trigger. Deduction problems that are based on a narrow separation gap usually result in a delay time. The withdrawal time can be defined, for example, by energizing the withdrawal clutch (withdrawal signal) to recognizing the front edge of the banknotes by a sensor downstream of the separating gap. The average of several deductions must remain below a specified limit. If this limit is exceeded, the gap is made wider. If the gap is too narrow, depending on the Leaf stiffness and the surface quality of the leaves buckle them, compress them and block the separating gap. This situation will occur earlier with used banknotes in poor condition than with new banknotes that are still smooth and stiff.
The setting of the separating gap can be carried out in such a way that the shaft carrying the retaining rollers is mounted in the frame in an adjustable manner radially to the shaft carrying the transport rollers and is connected via connecting arms to an eccentric drive, the actuator comprising a stepper motor coupled to the eccentric drive via a gear .

The banknotes 12 stand upright on a magazine base 14 and are pressed against a front wall of the magazine, not shown, by means of a stamp 16 under the pressure of a spring 18.
Mit dem Magazin 10 verbunden ist eine allgemein mit 20 bezeichnete Vereinzelungseinrichtung, die in bekannterConnected to the magazine 10 is a separating device, generally designated 20, which is known in the art
Way serves the front sheet or the to remove the foremost banknote 22 from the stack 12 individually in the illustrated case.
The separating device 20 comprises a frame with frame side parts 24 (FIG. 2) which are connected to one another by cross struts (not shown). In the frame side parts 24, take-off rollers 28 are mounted on a shaft 26 such that they pass through the end wall of the magazine 10, not shown, on the end face of the stack of banknotes 12, i.e. rest against the foremost sheet 22 to be removed. The take-off rollers 28 can be driven in the direction of the arrow 30, so that they can push out the foremost sheet 22 downward through an opening provided in the magazine 10. Near this opening below the take-off rollers 28, transport rollers 34 are rotatably mounted in the frame side parts 24 by means of a shaft 32. The transport rollers 34 are assigned retaining rollers 36 which are mounted in the frame side parts 24 by means of a shaft 38. The ends of the shaft 38 lie in slots 40 formed in the frame side parts 24, which are directed in such a way that the shaft 38 of the retaining rollers 40 directed parallel to the shaft 32 of the transport rollers 34 can be adjusted radially to the shaft 32. The transport rollers 34 and the retaining rollers 38 together form a separating gap 42 that is aligned with the plane of the foremost bank note 22, the width of which can be changed by adjusting the shaft 38 in the slots 40. The transport rollers 34 and the retaining rollers 36 are driven by means of drive rollers 44 which are in common in the direction of the arrows 46 shown in FIG. 1.
Downstream of the separating gap 42 is a deflection guide 48, which coaxially surrounds the transport rollers 34 and which is attached to a belt conveyor 50. det, which in conjunction with a stationary guide plate 52 feeds the withdrawn banknotes upwards in the direction of arrow 54 for their further use. The belt conveyor 50 can comprise, in a manner known per se, a plurality of endless belts 56, each of which wraps around the upper and lower deflection rollers 58, which in turn are rotatably mounted with shafts 60 in the frame side parts 24.
According to the invention, the separating gap 42 between the transport rollers 34 and the retaining rollers 36 can be set automatically as a function of certain criteria. For this purpose, the ends of the shaft 38 of the retaining rollers 36 are connected to an actuating device 66 via connecting arms 64 running parallel to the frame side parts 24 outside the same. The actuating device comprises an actuating shaft 68 which is rotatably mounted in the frame side parts 24. A worm gear 70, which is in engagement with a worm shaft 72, is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the actuating shaft 68. This is driven by a stepper motor 74 which is arranged on a side flange 76 which is bent at right angles to the frame side part 24 on the right in FIG. The connecting arms 64 are rotatably supported on the ends of the adjusting shaft 68 by means of eccentric bushings 78 which are non-rotatably connected to the adjusting shaft 68.
If the eccentric shaft 68 is rotated via the stepper motor 74 and the worm drive 72, 70, the eccentric bushings 78 cause the connecting arms 64 to be displaced in their longitudinal direction and thus to adjust the shaft 38 of the retaining rollers 36 radially to the shaft 32 of the transport rollers 34. The separating gap 42 is thus adjustable in width using the adjusting mechanism described.
The stepper motor 74 is connected to a programmable control device 80 and is controlled by it. The control device 80 is also equipped with a flow Downstream of the separating device 20 in the transport path of the withdrawn banknotes arranged device 82 for detecting double and multiple deductions. Such devices are known per se and are not explained in more detail here. Furthermore, the control device 80 is connected to a sensor 84, which is arranged downstream of the singling gap 42 in the transport path of the withdrawn banknotes and which responds to the front edge of a withdrawn banknote. Such a sensor can be a light barrier, for example.
On the one hand, the control device receives information from the device 82 as to whether double and multiple withdrawals of banknotes take place. If the number of double deductions exceeds a certain value in a given period of time, this is an indication that the separating gap 42 is too wide. In this case, the program in the control device 80 uses a stored table in which empirical values for a readjustment of the separating gap 42 are stored for a given type of banknote and possibly also for a certain state of preservation. In accordance with the readjustment value determined in this way, the control device 80 activates the stepping motor 74, which makes the separating gap 42 narrower by rotating the actuating shaft 68. This procedure may be repeated if the double deduction rate does not fall below the specified limit.
On the other hand, the control device 80 can determine on the basis of a signal received from the sensor 84 whether the leading edge of a withdrawn banknote 22 has covered a certain distance in a given period of time after the trigger rollers 28 have been activated or after a trigger signal has been given. If this predetermined time value is exceeded, this is an indication that the separation gap 42 is too narrow. Then the control device controls device 80 the stepper motor 74 in such a way that the gap 42 is made wider. If it is determined via the sensor 84 that no banknote has ever passed through the separating gap 42, that is to say that a jam may have occurred in front of the separating gap 42, the gap 42 can be opened via the control device 80 and the actuating device to such an extent that the retained banknote or the pent-up banknotes can pass through the separating gap in any case and the jam is thus eliminated. The gap can then be adjusted to the desired width.
The above description shows that the solution according to the invention enables the width of the separating gap to be set automatically, as a result of which the availability of a cash dispenser equipped with the separating device according to the invention and the maintenance intervals can be considerably extended.
