Definitions
- the invention relates to a hydraulic vehicle brake system with a traction and / or driving dynamics control device according to the preamble of the main claim.
- Known vehicle brake systems of this type have a brake pressure modulation valve arrangement with an inlet and an outlet valve for each wheel brake cylinder and a return pump.
- the return pump delivers brake fluid released from it back into the master brake cylinder or for raising the brake pressure in the wheel brake cylinder.
- DE-OS 33 37 545 discloses a precharging pump which is arranged between a brake fluid reservoir and the master brake cylinder and feeds into one of the two pressure chambers of the tandem master brake cylinder.
- the known vehicle brake system however, has the disadvantage that the precharging pump must be able to flow through in both directions for conventional brake actuation without anti-lock, traction slip or driving dynamics control in order to ensure the necessary brake fluid flow from the reservoir in the master brake cylinder and in the opposite direction.
- precharging pumps only special types of pumps can be used as precharging pumps, namely hydrodynamic pumps such as centrifugal or centrifugal pumps, through which brake fluid can flow in both directions when the brake fluid is at a standstill.
- a centrifugal pump would have to be carried out in several stages in order to meet the requirements for a pre-charging pump. This makes it expensive. In addition, due to the high pump speed, cavitation and gas bubbles are to be expected, which would damage the centrifugal pump and impair the function of the brake system.
- a hydraulic element ensures the free flow of brake fluid from the reservoir into the master brake cylinder and in the opposite direction when the precharging pump is at a standstill.
- the flow of brake fluid between the reservoir and the master brake cylinder is not hindered by the precharge pump, so that the precharge pump, when not in operation, has no effect on the function of the vehicle brake system. If the master brake cylinder is not actuated, a pre-pressure can be built up in the master brake cylinder and thus in the vehicle brake system with the precharge pump, which can be quickly increased to a necessary brake pressure with the return pump in order to enable a quick response of the drive slip and driving dynamics control.
- Another advantage of the invention is that the precharge pump does not have to be able to flow through in both directions at a standstill, which is why a large number of different pump types are available. Also, no high-quality pump with good efficiency is necessary, since the precharge pump only generates a pre-pressure, which is increased to the necessary braking pressure by the return pump. Inexpensive, already existing and proven pumps can therefore be used. Furthermore, hydraulic elements can be used which have already proven themselves in such vehicle brake systems.
- the invention has the advantage that the overall height of the master brake cylinder with the reservoir does not increase, since the precharge pump does not have to be arranged between these two components. but can be attached to a place where there is installation space.
- the precharge pump delivers directly into the master brake cylinder and through a throttle as a hydraulic element into the reservoir. There is therefore a division of the brake fluid flow into the reservoir and into the master brake cylinder.
- a special throttle is not absolutely necessary; the flow resistance of a brake fluid line may also suffice, or a bore in the pressure line from the precharge pump to the tank connection.
- the hydraulic element is preferably a valve which, in a basic position, releases an unimpeded flow from the reservoir into the master brake cylinder and in the opposite direction and in a switch position connects the pressure side of the precharge pump to the master brake cylinder (claim 3).
- the valve can be a solenoid valve that is controlled, for example, by a control device required for the drive slip or driving dynamics control (claim 4) or a hydraulically operated valve that is controlled by the delivery pressure of the precharging pump (claim 5).
- the precharge pump according to claim 8 By arranging the precharge pump according to claim 8 below a brake fluid level in the reservoir, even with the brake fluid container largely empty, it is ensured that the precharge pump when switched on is filled with brake fluid and can therefore build up brake pressure in the vehicle brake system without delay.
- the precharge pump For rapid resetting of a hydraulically operated precharge valve, the precharge pump is switched off and sucked in with the return pump brake fluid through the precharge valve in its switch position, which in this position connects the pressure side of the precharge pump to the master brake cylinder.
- the brake fluid pressure on the pressure side of the precharge pump which holds the hydraulically operated precharge valve in its switch position, drops rapidly and the precharge valve reaches its basic position, in which it connects the master brake cylinder to the reservoir, so that the brake fluid is unimpeded the vehicle brake system can flow back into the storage container through the master brake cylinder.
- FIG. 1 shows a hydraulic circuit diagram of a vehicle brake system according to the invention
- FIGS. 2a, c and d details of embodiments of the vehicle brake system from FIG. 1,
- FIG. 2b shows a single part from FIGS. 2a, c and d
- Figure 5 shows a possibility of attaching a precharge pump according to the invention.
- FIG. 1 shows a brake circuit I of a dual-circuit vehicle brake system 10 according to the invention.
- the brake circuit II is constructed in accordance with the brake circuit I shown and functions in the same way.
- the vehicle brake system 10 has a tandem master brake cylinder 12 with a reservoir 14.
- a branching main brake line 16 leads to wheel brake cylinders 18 connected to this brake circuit I.
- a switch valve 20, which is open in its basic position and has an integrated pressure limiting valve 22, is switched into the main brake line 16.
- An inlet valve 24 which is open in its basic position is connected upstream of each wheel brake cylinder 18.
- each wheel brake cylinder 18 has an outlet valve 26 closed in its basic position, from which a common return line 28 leads to the main brake line 16 and opens between the changeover valve 20 and the inlet valves 24.
- a return pump 30 is switched on, which is followed by a memory 32 and a damper 34.
- the inlet and outlet valves 24, 26 form a brake pressure modulation valve arrangement of the respective wheel brake cylinder 18, with which the brake pressure in the wheel brake cylinder 18 can be modulated in a manner known per se To prevent or limit slippage of the corresponding vehicle wheel when braking (anti-lock control), when starting off (drive slip control) or to reduce the cornering force by targeted braking of a vehicle wheel in order to prevent the vehicle from skidding (driving dynamics control).
- the brake pressure modulation takes place with the aid of the return pump 30.
- the changeover valve 20 can be closed during the brake pressure modulation in order to prevent repercussions on the master brake cylinder 12.
- Inlet and outlet valves 24, 26 can, for example, also be combined to form a 3/3 valve instead of the separate 2/2 valves shown.
- An intake line 36 leads from the master brake cylinder 12 to a suction side of the return pump 30.
- An intake valve 38 which is closed in its basic position is arranged in the intake line 36.
- the return pump 30 receives brake fluid directly from the master brake cylinder 12 when the intake valve 38 is open, which is a prerequisite for rapid pressure build-up.
- a pressure sensor 40 is connected to the master brake cylinder 12. All valves 20, 24, 26, 38 are solenoid valves.
- the vehicle brake system 10 In order to supply the return pump 30 with brake fluid in sufficient quantity in a short time when the master brake cylinder 12 is not actuated, the vehicle brake system 10 according to the invention has a precharging pump 42 which can be arranged directly on the reservoir 14 and whose suction side receives brake fluid from the reservoir 14.
- the precharge pump 42 delivers brake fluid through a 3/2-precharge valve 44 into the master brake cylinder 12.
- the precharge valve 44 is in the reservoir 14 directly on Connection of the master cylinder 12 arranged. In its basic position, the precharge valve 44 opens a passage from the reservoir 14 into the master brake cylinder 12, so that braking takes place as usual.
- the precharging valve 44 When the precharging pump 42 is in operation, the precharging valve 44 is switched over, it closes the passage from the storage container 14 into the master brake cylinder 12 and connects a pressure side of the precharging pump 42 to the master brake cylinder 12. In this way, pressure can be built up in the master brake cylinder 12 with the precharging pump 42 if this is not operated.
- the return pump 30 Through the suction line 36 and the opened suction valve 38, the return pump 30 can be supplied with brake fluid in sufficient quantity for a rapid pressure build-up in the wheel brake cylinders 18, even if the master brake cylinder 12 is not actuated.
- the precharge pump 42 preferably feeds into a primary or "rod circuit" pressure chamber 50 of the master brake cylinder 12 (see FIG. 2a), in which brake pressure is built up directly by a brake pedal 48 via a pedal rod 46 and a rod piston 49.
- brake pressure in the secondary or "floating circuit” pressure chamber 54 is built up indirectly via the pressure in the rod circuit.
- the connection of the precharge pump 42 to the rod circuit has the advantage that pressure is also generated in the floating circuit via the pressure generation in the rod circuit, i. H. it is generated in both brake circuits I, II with a pre-charge pump 42 pressure. Nevertheless, both brake circuits I, II remain separate from one another, so that failure of one brake circuit does not impair the function of the other brake circuit.
- FIG. 2a shows the hydraulic connection of the precharge pump 42. It sucks from the storage container 14, its pressure side is connected to the rod circuit 50 of the master brake cylinder 12 by the 3/2 precharge valve 44.
- the preload valve 44 connects in its basic position the reservoir 14 with the pressure chamber 50 of the rod circuit, so that a brake fluid exchange between the reservoir 14 and the master cylinder 12 can take place as usual.
- the precharge valve 44 connects the pressure side of the precharge pump 42 to the pressure chamber 50 of the master brake cylinder 12 and separates the reservoir 14 from the master brake cylinder 12, so that brake fluid is conveyed from the reservoir 14 by the precharge pump 42 under pressure into the master brake cylinder 12 and from arrives there in the brake circuits I shown in FIG. 1.
- the pressure generation in the pressure chamber 50 of the rod circuit displaces a floating piston 52 of the master brake cylinder 12, as a result of which brake fluid pressure is also built up in a pressure chamber 54 of the floating circuit, so that pressure is also generated in the second, not shown, brake circuit II.
- the precharge valve 44 is hydraulically actuated and actuated by pressurizing the pressure side of the precharge pump 42. As a result, the precharge valve 44 connects the precharge pump 42 to the master brake cylinder 12 when the precharge pump 42 is started and generates pressure.
- a pressure relief valve 56 is connected to the pressure side of the precharge pump 42, the outlet of which is into the reservoir 14.
- brake fluid can only pass through the precharge valve 44 and not past it into the pressure chamber 50 of the rod circuit of the master brake cylinder 12.
- Both pistons 49, 52 of the master brake cylinder 12 have a central valve 51, 53, which is open when the master brake cylinder is not actuated, so that brake fluid can flow from the reservoir 14 into the two pressure chambers 50, 54 of the master brake cylinder 12 and in the opposite direction.
- the central valve 51 of the rod piston 49 is held in the open position by a control ring 55 with a cross pin 57 (FIG. 2b) when the master brake cylinder 12 is not actuated.
- the cross pin 57 of the control ring 55 passes through a transverse opening 59 in the rod piston 49, the control ring 55 thereby has a defined axial play on the rod piston 49. It moves with the rod piston 49.
- the control ring 55 bears against the master brake cylinder 12 and thereby opens the central valve 51 of the rod piston 49 via its transverse pin 57.
- the two central valves 51, 53 act as check valves which open in the direction of the respective pressure chamber 50, 54 of the master brake cylinder 12.
- the precharge pump 42 In order to quickly reset the hydraulically actuated precharge valve 44 to its basic position when the master brake cylinder 12 is not actuated after it has been put into its switch position by the operation of the precharge pump 42, the precharge pump 42 is switched off and with the Return pump 30 briefly sucked in brake fluid through the precharge valve 44. As a result, the pressure on the pressure side of the precharging pump 42, which holds the precharging valve 44 in its switch position, drops rapidly and the precharging valve 44 returns to its basic position, in which it connects the master brake cylinder 12 to the reservoir 14.
- brake fluid can be conveyed from the wheel brake cylinders 18 through the master brake cylinder 12 into the storage container 14 with the return pump 30.
- the changeover valve 20 is closed, and the intake valve 38, and the inlet and outlet valves 24, 26 are opened.
- FIG. 2c shows a modification of the embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 2a.
- the precharge valve 44 is missing from it, instead the pressure side of the precharge pump 42 is connected directly to the pressure chamber 50 of the master brake cylinder 12 and parallel to it by a throttle 58 to the reservoir 14.
- the reservoir 14 is connected through the throttle 58 to the master brake cylinder 12, so the vehicle brake system 10 functions as usual.
- the precharge pump 42 delivers the brake fluid flow is divided between the pressure chamber 50 of the master brake cylinder 12 and, through the throttle 58, the reservoir 14.
- the throttle 58 therefore causes a pressure build-up in the master brake cylinder 12 and thus in the connected vehicle brake system 10.
- the pressure relief valve 56 known from FIG.
- the throttle 58 can be implemented by means of a line, the length and cross section of which cause a throttling. A special throttle element is not absolutely necessary.
- Figure 2d shows a further embodiment of the invention.
- the precharge valve is designed as a solenoid valve 60.
- these two embodiments correspond to one another; reference is made to the explanations for FIG. 2a.
- the use of a solenoid valve as a precharge valve 60 has the advantage that it can be brought very quickly into its basic position, in which the passage from the pressure chamber 50 of the rod circuit of the master brake cylinder 12 into the reservoir 14 is open to a brake pressure in the vehicle brake system 10 according to the invention to be able to dismantle quickly.
- FIG. 3a shows the installation of the precharge valve 44 and the pressure relief valve 56 in the reservoir 14.
- the brake fluid container 14 has a lateral connection piece 62 for the suction side of the precharging pump 42 shown symbolically at a deep point in the storage container 14.
- a line 65 leads from the pressure side of the precharge pump 42 to a structural unit containing the precharge valve 44 and the pressure relief valve 56. This is inserted into a connecting piece 66 of the storage container 14 and sealed with an O-ring 68.
- With the connecting piece 66 Storage container 14 flanged to master brake cylinder 12 in a manner known per se (FIG. 2a).
- FIG. 3b the line 65 is led from the pressure side of the precharge pump 42 through a refill cover 70 of the storage container 14 and fastened with a rubber strap 72.
- this embodiment of the invention is constructed like that in FIG. 3a. Please refer to the corresponding explanations.
- FIGS. 4a to c show precharging and pressure limiting valves 44, 56 comprising units on average for installation in the storage container 14. These have a connection 74 for the pressure side of the precharging pump 42, a connection 76 for the pressure chamber 50 of the rod circuit of the master brake cylinder 12 and one or two openings 78 for the inlet and outlet of brake fluid in the reservoir 14.
- the precharge valve 44 has two valve seats 80, 82 lying opposite one another and a ball 84 as a valve closing body or a valve closing body 86 with two valve cones 88, 90.
- the valve bodies 84, 86 release a flow from the opening 78 on the container side to the connection 76 on the master cylinder side.
- the precharge pump 42 delivers brake fluid into the connection 74, it moves the valve body 84, 86 against the opposite Venil seat 82 and thereby closes the passage from the reservoir into the master brake cylinder and opens the passage from the pressure side of the precharge pump into the master brake cylinder.
- the precharge valves 44 shown in FIGS. 4a to c are therefore hydraulically operated valves which are controlled by the delivery pressure of the precharge pump 42.
- the structural units according to FIGS. 4a and c have a pressure relief valve known per se with a spring-loaded valve ball 92. 4b, the valve body is 86 spring-loaded, it is pressed by a helical compression spring 94 against the valve seat 80 connected to the pressure side of the precharge pump 42.
- the precharge valve 44 according to FIG. 4b thus simultaneously forms the pressure relief valve 56 for the precharge pump 42.
- the precharging pump 42 is attached directly to the storage container 14 together with an electric drive motor 94 to which it is flanged.
- the storage container 14 has a shoulder 96 protruding laterally on its underside, into which the precharging pump 42 is flanged with a peg-like suction connection 98.
- An angled channel 100 leads from the storage container 14 to the suction connection 98 of the precharging pump 42.
- the assembly comprising the precharge pump 42 and the drive motor 94 is held by means of a spring clip 102 in the form of a metal clip which engages over an underside of the attachment 96 of the reservoir 14 and an upper end face of the pump drive motor 94.
- a pressure line 65 is connected to the circumference of the precharge pump 42 and, as shown in FIG. 3b, is led into the reservoir 14. In FIG. 5, the pressure line 65 runs behind the precharge pump 42 and the pump motor 94.
- This type of attachment of the precharge pump 42 with its pump motor 94 directly to the brake fluid reservoir 14 has the advantage of a compact construction and a short suction connection of the reservoir pump 42 to the reservoir 14, which therefore has little flow resistance.
- Another advantage is that the precharge pump 42 is mounted under a brake fluid level in the reservoir 14 and is therefore always filled with brake fluid so that it builds up pressure immediately when switched on.
- the attachment of the precharge pump 42 to the reservoir 14 is ⁇ o low that it is below the brake fluid level even with a minimal brake fluid level.
- the test cycle described below is carried out: after switching on the ignition of the vehicle or even while the vehicle is stationary or running, the inlet valves 24 of the wheel brake cylinders 18 are closed and the precharge pump 42 is switched on when the master brake cylinder 12 is not actuated.
- the pressure increase in the master cylinder 12 is monitored with the pressure sensor 40. If a specified pressure is not reached within a specified time, there is a fault. If the predetermined pressure is reached within the predetermined time, the precharge pump 42 is switched off again and the brake fluid pressure drop in the master brake cylinder 12 is monitored with the pressure sensor 40. If the pressure in master brake cylinder 12 does not drop to zero within a predetermined time (possibly plus a tolerance), there is also an error.
