Abstract

The lock according to the present invention comprises a slide (3) that, when the door comes near to the wing, is freed and released by a spring latch (2) and performs a downward movement until a lower dead point, thus causing the insertion of the bolts into the respective seats and the operation of a stop (13).

Description

"A LOCK FOR THE AUTOMATIC CLOSING"
The present invention concerns a lock for the automatic closing of doors, main doors, shutters and similar, of the kind that determines a block without any intervention by the user.
The ' lock according to the present invention solves the problem of performing, at each closing, the automatic insertion of safety means by means of purely mechanical controls making use of the force of gravity acting of the single components.
The advantages of the lock according to the present " invention are many and considerable:
- it determines the automatic closing of the bolt due to the force of gravity;
- it allows the opening from inside by means of a handle; - from the outside, due to the particular shape of the key, the same may be inserted, through an eyelet much smaller than the safety cylinder, and the opening is possible in whatever position the lock mechanism is placed at the moment of use.
The lock accoding to the present invention will be described more in detail hereinbelow according to the enclosed drawings, in which a preferred embo¬ diment is shown.
Figure 1 shows a plan view of the automatic closing lock
../.. with the components in the position of open door. Figure 2 shows the lock in the closing step, with the spring latch nearly completely returned. Figure 3 shows the outlet position of the bolts CA in a door being already in safety conditions. Figures 4 and 5 show, in an exemplified form, the sin¬ gle elements of the lock.
The figures show an automatic closing lock, comprisin the following elements:
- a box and cover 1
- a spring latch 2
- a slide 3 - a bolt connecting rod 4
- a rotating bolt 5
- a safety cylinder 6
- a pinion 7
- a gear segment 8 - a lever 9 with square joint
- a connecting rod 10 with an eyelet
- a lever 11 for the return of the spring latch
- a return spring 12
- a gear stop 13 - a support for fixing cylinder 14
- a spring 15
- a cylinder 16 - a pin 17 with a shaped end blind hole
- a pin 18 with enlarged base blind hole
- a key 19, having such a shape as to allow the protec¬ tion of the lock behind an apposite autotempering steel plate .
Relating now to the details of the figures for what concerns the functioning of the closing, when the door comes near the wing the spring latch 2 enters
10 in the lock and releases and frees, by means of the inclined plane H resting in F, the slide 3. Said slide, due to the force of gravity, performs the downwards movement until the lower dead point cuasing, due to the connections and to the connecting
!5 rod of the rotating bolt, the insertion of the bolts in the respective seats and the operation of stop 13 by means of a push that D performs onto Q; in the same time, the insertion of the lock stop takes placft through the three stop steps of B on P, that
20 stops the opposite sliding of said slide 3 and of all elements connected thereto.
At the same time, said spring latch 2, being pushed by said lever 11 due to said spring 12, enter the
25 apposite hole provided in the wing of the door.
For what concerns the functioning of the opening from the outside, through the rotation of the key 19 the movement is transmitted to said pinion 7
.../ inserted in the gear segment 8; this latter one, by means of its pin M, acts on the upper side of hole C making rise the slide 3; by moving, said slide 3 causes the drawing of bolts CA and, performing the " last part of its run, releases stop 13 through a push of E on S and, by a push of element G onto part I of the return lever 11, moves the spring latch 2 inside the lock by means of hole N inserted into pin 0.
The opening from the inside occurs by rotating the handle or knob, without using the key. The lever 8, having its fulcrum by means of a pin Y inserted therein, is provided with a square joint at the end of said pin, where the handle through which said lever may rotate is jointed. Said lever is provided, at the opposite end of the fulcrum, with a pin K that connects it to the connecting rod 10 with eyelet so that, during the rotation of the handle, the movement of the connecting rod takes place and, through the eyelet hooked to pin M, the movement is brough back to the gear segment, thus causing the opening process as already described for the key.
A main feature of the lock according to the present invention consists in that the pinion is made free to rotate according to any movement of the lock mechanism by means of two springs 15, a cylinder
/ 16, a pin with an enlarged end blind hole 18 and a shaped end blind hole 17. The latter one transfers the rotating movement of the key 19 to pinion 7 due to an obliged joint that occurs, between pin 18 -and pinion 7, in whatever position the mechanism of the lock is found in the moment the key is used.

Claims

1. An automatic closing lock, characterized in a slide (3) that, when the door gets near to the wing, is freed and released by a spring latch (2) by means of an inclined plane (H) resting in (F) and, sliding down to the the force of gravity, causes through the connections and the connecting rod of the rotating bolt, the insertion of the bolts into the respective seats and the operating of a stop (13), through a push that (D) performs on (Q), while at the same time the insertion of the lock stop takes place through the three stop steps of (B) on (P) that blocks the opposite sliding of said slide (3) and of all elements connected thereto, and while, still, said spring latch (2) being pushed by lever (11) due to spring (12), gets inserted in the apposite hole provided in the wing.
2. An automatic closing lock according to claim 1, characterized in that in the opening from outside through the rotation of the key (19), said movement is transferred to pinion (7), jointed in the gear segment (8) that; ' with its pin (M), acts onto the upper side of the hole (C) making rise the slide (3) that, by moving, causes first the drawing 'of bolts (CA) and, in the last part of its run, releases the stop (13) by means of the push of (E) on (S) and by means of element (G) onto part (I) of the return lever (11), moves the spring latch (2) inside the lock through the hole (N) jointed to pin 0.
3. An automatic closing lock according to claim 1, characterized in that the opening from inside takes place due to the rotation of the handle, without the use of the key, by means of a lever (8) having its fulcrum with a pin (Y) inserted therein, and provided with a square joint at the end of said pin where it gets jointed and, at the opposite end, provided with a pin (K) that connects said lever to a connecting rod (10) provided with eyelet so that, during the rotation of the handle, the moving of the connecting rod takes place and, through the eyelet hooked to pin (M), the movement will be brought back to the gear segment causing the opening process, similar to the one already described for the key.
4. An automatic closing lock according to claim 1, characterized in that the pinion is made free to rotate following any movement of the lock mechanism by means of two springs (15), a cylinder (16), an enlarged end blind hole (18) and a shaped end blind hole (17), that will transfer the rotating movement of the key (19) to pinion (7) due to an obliged joint that occurs, between pin (18) and pinion (7), in whatever position the lock mechanism is found when the key is used.
