Abstract

A method of reversibly arresting muscle activity (e.g. cardioplegia) by administering a reagent such as 2,3-butanedione monoxime which selectively and reversibly blocks the interaction of the contractile proteins actin and myosin is described. Compositions for arresting muscle activity are also described.
