Abstract

Un appareil et un procédé permettant de procéder à un essai de traction sur des fibres, utilisent un crochet (24) sur lequel une fibre (22) est tendue, ainsi qu'une pince (26) destinée à serrer les extrémités opposées de ladite fibre (22) ensemble. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, on utilise deux pinces (94, 96) au lieu d'un crochet (24) et d'une pince (26). Lors d'une opération d'essai, on déplace le crochet (24) et la pince (26) l'un par rapport à l'autre afin de tendre la fibre (22), et on utilise des instruments de contrôle (58, 114) afin de contrôler au moins une caractéristique de la fibre (22) lorsqu'on la tend. On contrôle les forces de tension exercées sur la fibre à l'aide d'un transducteur piézoélectrique (58), et on contrôle les caractéristiques de section transversale de ladite fibre à l'aide d'un système à source de lumière (112) et à détecteur (114) orientant un faisceau de lumière (116) vers la fibre (22), et mesurant la lumière diffusée par cette dernière (22). On obtient des données multiples relatives à la fibre par essai d'un certain nombre de fibres d'un échantillon, et par superposition de représentations graphiques de caractéristiques de traction des fibres individuelles afin d'obtenir une représentation composite constituant des données multiples relatives à la fibre.
