Abstract

The conveyor belt (A) has wires or rods transverse to the direction of motion of the belt which are equipped with short, loose-fitting tubes (C). When the belt moves across the support (B), the tubes will rotate, thus causing the object (D) to roll on the conveyor belt. In this way, during operation, the support surfaces will move, and less tractive force is needed. Furthermore, the tubes will isolate the object from the conveyor belt, provided that they are made of insulating material.

Description

Roller tube conveyor belt
The invention concerns an open wire mesh conveyor belt equipped with short pieces of tubes or rollers.
Roller conveyance has been known for a long time and used in the form of roller chains, among other things.
what is special about this conveyor belt is the equipment of the transverse wires of a very open weaved conveyor belt of metal wires with tubes which rotate round the wires distributed all over the surface of the belt.
This secures a more careful conveyance of e.g. cheece or ether objects with soft and vulnerable undersurface requiring conveyance on a very open belt; this, however, involves a large surface pressure on the point of contact.
The mounting of tubes on the carrying wires will reduce surface pressure by the larger diameter; furthermore, as. the belt is allowed to run on a fixed support, the rolling of the tubes will continuously cause the support points of the object to be moved, which in turn will extend the pressure to the whole surface instead of a few points.
The tubes of the conveyor belt reduce the resistance, cause the object to move in relation to the belt and isolate the object from the belt.
Less tractive force is needed, the object gets no pressure marks and it is possible to work under extreme temperature, magnetic, or electric conditions. The form of embodiment shown consists of a conveyor belt of wire mesh; the load-bearing part of the belt consists of wire rods transverse to the direction of motion equipped with tubes, and the various wire rods hooked together transmit the tractive force. It is possible to use the system of rollers/tubes with other kinds of steel conveyor belts.
The drawing shows a roller tube belt, fig. 1 showing an embodiment seen from above and fig. 2 showing a side view with object.
The movement of the conveyor belt A across the support B will cause the roller C to rotate ccunt er-clockwise which in turn will move the object D forward in relation to the conveyor belt A. If, moreover, the rollers are made of polyamide or teflon, there will be an effective thermal cr electric indulation between the belt and the object.
The embodiment of steel belt shown is chosen at random, as the priciples can he used on other forms.

Claims

PATENT CLAIMS
"The conveyor A has a number of rollers C connected with tractive organs which move the rollers across a fixed support in such a way that the rollers will roll on the support B and that the υp-turned parts of the roller surface will serve as support for goods. The conveyor is characterized in that the tractive organs consist of a wire mesh conveyor belt with a number of transverse, rectilinear rods and that the rollers are suspended on these rods; thus, in the transverse direction of the conveyor, there is a number of seperate rows of rollers."
