Abstract
The guts are comprised of braided, twisted or perforated metal wires which, compared to the natural or plastic material guts, are less sensitive to outer effects and exhibit a higher tensile strength and constant flexibility and tension. Stringing thus produced has a longer life and at least an equal playing quality.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Saite zum Bespannen von Ball- schlägern für Tennis und verwandte Spiele, wie Badminton und Squash.The invention relates to a string for stringing rackets for tennis and related games, such as badminton and squash.
Herkömmliche Ballschläger dieser Art haben eine Bespannung aus Darm- oder Kunststoffsaiten. Wie die Erfahrung zeigt, sind solche Saiten gegen äussere Einflüsse, insbesondere gegen Wärme und Feuchtigkeit, ziemlich empfindlich, was sich durch Nachlassen der Spannung bzw. durch Weichwerden der Bespannung äussert. Kunststoff- wie Darmsaiten haben ausserde bei stärkerer Beanspruchung, insbesondere bei Verwendung der Ballschläger durch professionelle Spieler, eine meist nur geringe Lebensdauer, und zwar wegen der ver- hältnismässig geringen Zerreissfestigkeit, die unter den genannten äusseren Einflüssen eher noch abnimmt. Unter Um¬ ständen kann sich auch Luft bestimmter Beschaffenheit auf die Materialbeständigkeit ungünstig auswirken, z.B. salz¬ haltige Luft in Meeresgegenden.Conventional ball racquets of this type are covered with gut or plastic strings. Alle diese Nachteile lassen sich vermeiden, wenn die Ball¬ schläger mit einer Saite bespannt werden, die erfindungs- gemäss aus verseiltem, verlitztem oder drilliertem Metall¬ draht besteht. Aehn- liche Elastizitätswerte wie bei einer üblichen Darmsaite erreicht man beispielsweise mit einer derartigen Metall¬ saite, deren Kunststoffseele einen Durchmesser von 0,7 mm hat und mit sechs Stahldrähten bewickelt ist, deren Durch¬ messer 0,28 mm beträgt. Bei einer grösseren Anzahl paral¬ lel laufender Metalldrähte ergibt sich eine grössere Stei- gung der Drahtwindungen und damit eine geringere Elastizi-
