To (Ill whom {I may concern .Ile it known that l, Amos HANK of Salem, in the county o1lfohnnhiana and State ol Ohio, have invented a Design for (ii-ave- Guards, of which the following is a specification:
The nature ot my invention is lully repre sentcd in the aeei'nnpanyingdrawing to which reference is here made.
The guard is nearly or quite flat as regards its upper and under surfaces, and in its external eircunil'erenee it is approximately of oval shape, the end portions being formed on a short or acute curve, as from a to u, and the side portions on a longer curve, or on. one much more nearly approaching a straight line, as at b b. The top or upper surface of the guard is narrower and shorter than the under side thereofl and consequently the eireuml'ercntial suri'aee is made flaring and sloping outward and downward. as l'ull shown in the drawing. The guard is hollowed outat its central pal-1121s shown at A, so that it has more or less the form of an oblong; or oval annulus, thieker horizontally at the ends than at the lateral portions, the form of the open space thus provided within the guard approximating in any desired degree to the outline of the guard.
\Vhat, 1 claim as my invention is The d sign for a grave-guard in which the outer eirenint'ercntial surface is of oral eontiguration, and flaring outwardly toward its base, as shown and described.
