Description

DESIGN" Patented Apr. 2, IQOL WITNIESIEL INK/ENTER.
UNITED STATES- PATENT OFFICE.
ARTHUR A. MCRAE, OF ATTLEB ORO, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO MGRAE AND KEELER, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A SPRING-SUPPORT FOR HAT-PIN ORNAMENTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,310, dated April 2, 1901.
Application filed February 7, 1901. Serial No. 46,449. Term of patent 7 years.
T0 (112/ whmn it may concern;
Be it known that I, ARTHUR A. MCRAE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Spring-Support for Hat-Pin Ornaments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
' Figure 1 isa side view of my newly-designed spring-support for the ornament forming the crown or finial of a hat-pin. Fig. 2 is an end view, on an enlarged scale, of the spring-support. Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the springsupport.
Hat-pins are usually provided with ornamental heads. These are frequently jeweled, and it is desirable to give to these heads a spring-support whereby a tremulous movement is imparted to the head, so that the jewels or facets of the head may reflect constantly-varying lights or colors.
As shown in the drawings, the leading and material feature of my design consists in the goblet-shaped outline of the spiral wire spring. The stem-like portion of smaller diameter is usually connected to the pin, and the cup-shaped end of larger diameter forms the base or support of the ornamental head.
The vertical outline of the spring-support forms a double or reverse curve by the union of the concave outline of the stem with the convex outline of the cup portion of the spring-support.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for the spring-support for hatpin ornaments as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ARTHUR A. MORAE.
