DESIGN FOR A SCISSORS MEMBER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,097, dated February 19, 1901.
Application filed January 11, 1901. Serial No. 42,929. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES C. SMITH, a citizen of the United States,residingat Led uc, in the county of Logan and State of Idaho, have invented and produced anewand original Design for Scissors Members; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
This invention relates to a new and original design in scissors members, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is an elevation of one side of said member. Fig. 2 is an elevation of the opposite side, and Fig. 3 is a plan view.
As shown in the drawings, the design comprises an elongated relatively thin portion 4, tapered to the edge 6, constituting a blade, the substantially rectangular open portion 5 of somewhat greater thickness than the portion 4 and having an inclined inner edge adjacent thereto constituting-a handle, and the offset or projection 7 arranged to one side of the member intermediate the portions 4 and 5 and having a centrally-arranged aperture or opening, as shown.
The essential feature of the design is the elongated blade portion having the offset or projecting portion provided with the aperture and the thickened handle portion having the inner inclined edge arranged substantially as shown.
